Hands down... The Gretsch Custom Shop is the coolest place on earth! I wish i could go there or order from there. Gretsch's Guitars are craftsmanship. Somewhere in time i will own one.
Stephen Stern sounded emotional when he said "I'm so excited to see them with their guitars", finding people who want their employees to take pride in their work is such a rarity, this was just amazing.
As beautiful as the Penguin is, I love seeing the pride Gonzalos has in his work. Without that, pieces like these do not exist..Excellent work gentlemen !!!
Just bought a Vintage 57 duo jet in cadillac green from the Chicago Music Exchange. Its easily the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever owned. Thank you to Gretsch and all these hard working men that still take pride in what they do.
Being a perfectionist in the machinist trade, I am blown away by the craftsmanship of these guitar artisans. Each of their guitars are works of beauty beyond my comprehension. Thank you for sharing this in video that can be enjoyed and watched over again. Having purchased a 6122 Country Gentleman, I am just amazed at the workmanship of my Gretsch. This takes it up several notches.
Most important ingredient in the making of a great guitar: Passion. All builders in the vid stand for that. Gonzalo's part was particularly emotional. It's obvious the love he put in that Penguin. And its a hell of a guitar... After hearing him saying that "It's my dream guitar"... if I would have been his boss... I would give it to him. The binding in his guitar is INSANE. Proud to own my DuoJet DC
I recently acquired a 5120T. I was so impressed that I immediately added a 5230T to the collection. Gretsch guitars are truly very, very good and beautiful instruments.
God damn it Gonzalo, that guitar is insane. Voy a tener que visitar esta fabrica algún dia para darte la mano. Hope everyone at the shop is safe in these times.
WOW, wish my grandfather could see these wonderful instruments. I have fond memories of us jamming together at a vintage guitar store on white Falcons, me the bass him the single cutaway. (too bad we couldn't of purchased them both !!) Anyway thank you gentlemen on your creations, more than art, Gretsch guitars are still in my top 7 guitars
I would have loved to work in an environment like this! Gibson was the opposite when I worked for them, sadly, they only cared about mass production. To have had my input in something would have been so fulfilling.
I would like a 6118 single-pickup without any additional inside bracing (just the parallel tone bars to mount the pickup to) and those don’t usually have f-hole binding. But, now that we’ve met Gonzalo….”Make it so.” A gloss black top to match the headstock veneer and the sweet black ebony fretboard (unbound, because cellos & violins don’t have fingerboard binding) and then everything not front-facing, natural or orange transparent shellac.. ❤❤❤
6120...? Nobody bothered to build the King of guitars! Wow if I worked for gretsch I would build a 6120 RatRod. Nice job guys lovely guitars The builds done are beyond excellent.
Guitars are much more than looks. Who on a budget would spend $8 to $10k extra for esthetics considering the extra gear they need? Crazy 🤪. And at California prices.
I have a question, I have a 5120. What gauge strings should I use. I just put a set of GHS .009 flat wound (same string I use on my Tele). I like them on the Tele The Gretsch sounded better with the old strings than the new ones, I like the flat wound , but I'm wondering if I might need to go up to 10's or 11's. I don't know what was on it to begin with
Build quality is top notch and you have to take your hat off to that. That being said....I want to like those penguins but they seem less like guitars with a fun vintage history and more like grandma furniture where gold, brass, and extensive use of veneers are considered hallmarks of great design. They also kind of remind me of interiors of luxury cars in the 80s/90s where manufacturers would put plastic wood inserts in the dash and door panels to make it a "luxury" car. Also, tune-o-matic bridges on custom shop guitars are kinda hacky. I kinda get why they do that on the cheaper guitars because it's a cheap and ubiquitous part to source. Just my two cents. I'm sure a lot of people will love them though.
Oh man, chads penguin ... Oh man. Also I wish string makers would quit colour coding their strings, you have this amazing looking guitar but the strings have a freaking rainbow to ruin it haha

Yeah man, that was beautiful to see. Felt like he needed a hug then lol
Good Lord that burst on that Penguin is nothing short of perfection. My goodness that guitar is absolutely stunning!!!!

Proudly part of the Gretsch Family...
I recently acquired a 5120T. I was so impressed that I immediately added a 5230T to the collection. Gretsch guitars are truly very, very good and beautiful instruments.
Gonzalo’s is my favorite. Has a flair to it.
God damn it Gonzalo, that guitar is insane. Voy a tener que visitar esta fabrica algún dia para darte la mano.

These guys are so genuine. Proud to be a Gretsch player 👍
Love how much passion flows into making a Gretsch guitar.
I’ll always cherish my years at Gretsch

J.L.
Very nice looking guitars. Great job guys.
All are beautiful, but I'm especially excited to see the Artist Model 150.
I wish two things in this video. One a demo of the guitars and 2 the finish of the 150
Gonzalo Rules!
6120...? Nobody bothered to build the King of guitars!
Wow if I worked for gretsch I would build a 6120 RatRod.
Nice job guys lovely guitars
The builds done are beyond excellent.
I now want to make guitars...I'm about to buy a Gretsch, though I am still a little undecided.
Beautiful
So glad these guys make guitars. If they made bombs the world would be over by now...
I'm definitely a Gretsch guy
magic!
that super broadkaster looks like the Roy Orbison guitar
What Specifically do the 5 Switches and 5 Knobs on the Broadkaster do?
Passion
Happy birthday !
They need to share their work ethic with Gibson. Maybe they will learn how to pay attention to detail.
Guitars are much more than looks. Who on a budget would spend $8 to $10k extra for esthetics considering the extra gear they need? Crazy 🤪. And at California prices.
My ears are watering I want to hear each one .. dang it .. Im going insane
artist 150 was awsome!!!!!!!
I love your guitars and their quality, but I think it is the second time in a row that you have spelling errors in the title :)
What do the 4 switches do on the upper bout on the super broadkaster
do they leave the wood inside the guitars for the retro models

So if I was to have one of the master builders from Gretsch custom shop who to have it built by. Stephen or Gonzolos
Oh and they still won't use Hot Hide Glue like they did in the `50's & `60's... Every major guitar maker will use Hide Glue except Gretsch...

A Penguin that stepped into the Gibson Custom shop..
Wait, so he's using the pickups from the streamliner range for a custom shop guitar?
Some of the electromatics have them too, they’re great pickups though
Buiders?
Ok Gibson, >THIS< is how you make guitars.
6120 model 3k Japan USA 12 k very expensive
Buiders??
3
I hope its not a real tortoise shell.
Nope. Tortoise shell has been outlawed since the late 60s and early 70s for guitar making.
Oh man, chads penguin ... Oh man. Also I wish string makers would quit colour coding their strings, you have this amazing looking guitar but the strings have a freaking rainbow to ruin it haha
