Most definitely. Ice is a bigger novelty and hip hop was as popular back when this series aired as it was when Ice Ice Baby was recorded. New Wave? Not so much. Also, Ice hadn’t been obscure as long as The Knack had been (approximately 10 years vs. 30 years). That’s why VI won even though The Knack was totally better.
They went full Knack over load and made to many albums to fast and burnt the fans out. That’s what killed the Knack. I still love the music because it’s damn good.
Short version they must have needed the gig. They were labeled the new future fab four. Another hit was Good girls don't.. to many songs about girls .. not versatile enough .
Just a fun bunch of guys! Thanks for the smiles!
I STILL can't believe that Vanilla Ice won over The Knack. The studio audience BLEW IT.

Saw them at the state fair in Phoenix in 1980. They were amazing. RIP Doug. F**k cancer!
I really miss Doug and The Knack. Rip Bruce Gary too. Thank you for the videos.
this is a great idea for a show. i wish it was still on. i'd definitely watch it.
R.I.P. Doug
R.I.P Doug. He was pretty great in this, just like he never aged.
The guitar solo is one of the greatest ever. They should've included that!
No solo on My Sharona? That's the best part!
No amps either.
Voodoo magic.
Featuring Pat Torpey (of Mr. Big) on the drums. Rest in peace, Doug & Pat.
Yup. Bruce Gary and Doug just couldn't get along, so, Pat was The Knack's drummer for a while.
RIP Doug Figier
The Knack, what a fun band!
Wow. I totally missed this one, like I missed seeing Jet at The Engine Room in Houston in 2004. 2001-2007. Rock and Roll's last stand.
I remember watching this in 2005 and thinking, "Crap, we need some new Knack songs!"
Zoom was criminally underrated.
@@PhillipRemaker Righto! Near flawless, thundering 'Zoom' into immortality!!!
💪🤟ขอบคุณครับผม ชอบมากเลยค่ะ🙏💰
Da tobt der Saal einfach Klasse!
I had tickets to see them perform in Philly years ago and a snowstorm came by and made them cancel. I never got to see them and I wish I had.
❤...
The lead singer looks exactly the same as he did back in the late seventies!!
RIP Doug.
Doug. Miss you brother.
Great cover!
Proof the Knack could have still been huge if later they had songs like AYGBMG?
sorry nevermind, my computer skipped the end O.o

Cool find
Yaaaassss!
@catfeces Yeah, I think it would even be better if it wasn't a competition. Just bring up older acts to show off they still got chops.
WWWHHHHOOOOOO
I've never seen more girls than at a Backstreet Boys concert.
great video, but the title's wrong..
I thought so too but they do cover it in the latter part of the clip.

This show sucked. Real bad. This performance was the only bright spot. This band deserved better than this. RIP Doug Fiegler.
