The thing is, when you know better, you do better. In 2008-2009, there was one extreme example. Here are the facts in short form:
a) Israel led a military operation against a tunnel used to bypass the blockade they imposed in 2007 : two soldiers died, ONE was captured ;
b) For that one soldier captured (and later released), Israel killed 1,387 people, amongst which 774 civilians (252 were children under the age of 16) ;
c) 5,300 people were wounded (!) ;
d) On the Israeli side, 3 civilians died. 10 soldiers were killed... by Israel itself by mistake.
Unless someone is extremely racist, or cannot do math, we can see this was not a proportional military response.
- I am Canadian by the way and the above are attested facts, that even Israel would not deny.

However during our fight with Japan we also specifically tried to avoid bombing culturally important places, while the IDF has bombed historic buildings including one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. We also didn’t specifically try to bomb refugee areas, we’re not monsters (unlike the IDF). And after the war we helped them rebuild, while Israel has mostly just sabotaged Palestinian attempts to have a functional economy.
