- In this Signal Colors: Layers video, I'm pairing up the OTO BAM and the Chroma Console from Hologram Electronics. A powerful duo with a lot of sonic bending abilities. I had the BAM in the non-VU mode by accident, so it's not as visually entertaining as it could be, but just pay attention the the Active light to know what's what haha.

As usual, a great video! I love the form factor and design of chroma console…. But i don’t love its sounds. I have it, and i find all the effects sound very thin to me. It’s hard to describe exactly, but i hear it making everything sound smaller, thinner, and flatter. I always want to like it, but end up removing it from the chain and using something purpose built
Thanks for the kind words! Also, I mostly agree with you here. Their design and approach is always solid, I love the features and the physical pedals, but they're never the "warmest" sounding effects. There's a place for them though, I'd say, but maybe only where there's a lot of "air" and maybe you just keep your low-end and low-mids out of their path?
sounds great!
Fun pairing! Chroma adding some flavor to the BAM 💥
Wouldn't it be the most 'correct' option to turn on BAM after Chroma?
You definitely could, but also why not this way - sticking to standards isn’t exactly my thing :). I often like delay after reverb, but in this case I mostly wanted to apply effects like the Diffusion and Texture modes after the reverb here, for noise and compression and broken/weirdness. :)
Man, what is going on with the algorhytm? I missed the last 8 videos.
Oh no! That’s not cool lol, but hey welcome back!! 🙌
