    That's what I've been doing so, that i can sperate myself from the other writes I've already writen the entire plot line and table of contents for seven books about 400 - 500 each and just have to work out the little details. I've actually wrote the first book's draft all the way through and now just increasing its volcabuary and placing extra details where needed.
    Thanks for you reply it's good to here from another aspring writer.

    In my opinion , all the 3 book I have read are exciting ! I read all of them in a couple of days just because I was '' stucked '' with them ! Excellent story , characters , language and mysterious things ! I am really fond of his books ! That's impressive enough for his age !! Definitely out of the ordinary !! Christopher keep on ! I cant wait for the 4th book =)

    man, I love this series. It is in the top favorites, which is a hard place to get. That was a horrible place to leave off on, they are all standing under a gilaten?! th is a really mean cliff hanger. the end of Brisngr was tantalizing enough. I always thought it would be really hard to write a book as good as Eragon.

CP is a GREAT writer and if u guys are all authors were are ur books on the top 100? yes, harshness, but dony any of u have imagination? harry potter spells are from latin and acient greek, yet none of u filp out about that. he inspired me to write a book one day, and ideas from other books makes a masterpiece

    Wait, auto correct messed me up :P anyway, he isn't plagiarizing, he's using an ARCHETYPE. this means that hes borrowing from a story that a lot of writers are borrowoing from, like Tolkien did, like star wars did, etc.

    Yes, I agree. I don't see where people get off saying that Paolini is a terrible writer! Okay, yes there are so recycled ideas that he has used from other people, but writing something that is totally original is extremely hard! Trust me, I've been trying for three years, and yes, writing a book is the most tedious job in the world if you want to write something worth reading! I've been editing for the past two years!

    Why is everyone saying that the fans are mostly really young girls [under 11!]? Which normal 11 year old girl is reading a book over 700 pages long ? I know I didn't. XD
    Well, I really like those books [I'm 17] and my sister loves them too [she's 25].
    I'm not saying it's not similar to lotr, but only to a certain point. He made up a lot and you're all saying it as if he's copied 75% of the book.
    He's a good writer and deserves respect.

    Everyone has their own opinions; true, I totally agree.
    Personally, I loved all the books. They were great. Yeah, each chapter wasnt based on action. Is your life a constant battle? If it is, you have my sympathy.
    How can I put this.... ah, let me see.

    The chapters aren't uneventful, even though it may seem like they do at first, they all contribute to the end result. I've read all 3 books and enjoyed them immensely, although I was kind of disappointed by the ending of Brisingr, I thought it should have been more exciting. But keep reading and I'm sure you'll understand the book. At least the boring chapters make it seem a lot more like real-life, instead of everything being fast moving. I like the way it seems so realistic.

    guys don't fight, I love fantasy story, I am writing them too, and I think both HP and Eragon is amazing. LotR became one of the basis of fantasy story (elf and dwarf) are the magical race that you will see in almost every single fantasy story. But like eragon, christopher also being original (dragon rider, urgal, ra'zac, even the elf is vegetarian lol) so don' be hating. HP is great too, but for everybody that think it's original, go check a famous book called the books of magic" by neil gaiman

    the emotional and mental struggles one goes through. Paolini expresses the thoughts and feelings that one has when in war. You might view it as stupid, but do you honestly think its easy to kill a person? To live with the thought of taking away another life? Eragon goes through a lot of issues. Like the bit with Sloan. Those few chapters, &the way Eragon dealt with the situation all reveal bits of Eragon's character. Who knows, maybe these are all clues to his true name. Either way, those

    Outline can be kinda of hard it wasn't until two months ago did I completely see the potential of my hard work. I started off with a simply and straight forward idea that subconsciously in the back of my head grew into a massive storyline with many plots, twist, and realistic dialogue. To outline a story, you need to at least have some idea of how you want to begin and end your story(s). Along with major events that will happen in between them. But, I don'tt know if I'm the best to explain it.

  • @Lumophage
    @Lumophage 14 років тому

    @TheMavonduriTrilogy I wasn't saying all fantasy books have elves or dwarves. It's just a general fact about fantasy stories. If you look at the majority of the stories they involve at least one of those races. You aren't copying another author by using the same/similar races.

  • @poppanna
    @poppanna 15 років тому

    Okay, I don't wanna fight, but would it be okay if I explain what I meant?
    He was talking about his own book, listed a few things and then said those are "all the things a good book need".
    To me, that's basically saying "my book is good", and since I think that his books are immature and boring (no offense to the readers, to each his own, aiight?), I think he made a completely nitwitty statement.
    Okay? That's just my opinion, I hope you can live with that.

  • @TheMavonduriTrilogy
    @TheMavonduriTrilogy 14 років тому

    @Lumophage Agreed, most fantasy stories use those kinds of characters, but as Paolini wrote them his elves and dwarves are very similar to Tolkienian elves and dwarves. If you're going to use those characters you've got to do something fresh with them.

    I'm currently writing a book and I firgured it wouldn't be too bad to final start reading some books. You know to see the material that mine would be competing with. I'm currently reading book one of Eragon its the first fictional book that I've preceded to open and read. But, I got on question. Do all writers have these uneventful chapters. Don't get me wrong its obviuos he has talent or his book wouldn't be doing so, well. I personal would have like more action mixed into the story.

    @WelcomeToHyrule 15 років тому

    I agree, and I'm a fan of the books. Well, I don't completely agree, but I know what you mean. There are no 'epic battles' or whatever. There's a not-so-special fight, and a small amount of romance. The books need more meat, hopefully a bit more excitement. But not to make it too unrealisitic.

    @Lumophage it's also a known fact that Paolini retroactively engineered the history of Alagaësia after his fans demanded it. That's another problem I have with his stories. If you're going to create a fantasy world, you should write the history first, so the characters have something to draw from. It's also a well known fact that Paolini uses a LOT of Quenya and Sindarin words in his ancient and dwarves languages, not to mention Old Icelandic. It's just not fresh enough. It's a good story, but

  • @MaskedMeldoy

    'boring' chapters show depth. Another topic I'd like to adress is the one concerning the fact that his works are not original. Some people were saying that his usage or (correct me if I'm wrong) the Norse language in creating the Ancient Language was unoriginal. How? He took something from the real world and turned it into something magical. There will always be similarites between books because lets face it; we're all humans. As much as we'd all like to think that we're 'unigue' and 'different'

  • @MaskedMeldoy
    @MaskedMeldoy 13 років тому

    we are all human. (and, if we are all unique, doesn't that make us all the same?)
    we all have similar ideas. As much as we'd like to think every single idea we have is never before thought by someone else, that's not true.
    What Paolini has created is a wonderful world. Its not perfect because its realistic. His style is unique, and his character's dialogue shows wisness.
    But hey, I'm only fifteen and I want to be a writer, so maybe I'm only blinded by admiriaton. (:

    @azerskater you need to look deeper. eragon= aragorn and his elf girl friend who happens to be royalty ariel=arwen. and its even more like star wars. kid get an object from a princess and joins a fallen order and is taught by an old master who is killed and ends up leading a resistance. and also at the battle of the burning plains when eragon sees a ship arriving and thinks its an enemy ship but turns out to be unexpected help, doesn't that sound like the battle of pellenor fields.

    True, but any book with original ideas can outsell Eragon. Most of the inheritance fans are either girls, or are younger than 11. Kinda like twilight. No, anyone loves knew ideas. If poalini had made eragon with his own ideas then he might be a much better writer than he is now. I wonder if he will be sued for copying starwars, lotr, or if he has a bad reputation now. But he really should have focused on the story and not on chracters. His chapter ending weren't siffhangerish like pendragon

    @Lumophage There is nothing really to doubt about it. It's a fact that he copied some of the best works of fantasy and has very little original content in his books.
    People do not say Eragon is a copycat because of elves, dwarfs and orcs (I mean Urgals). It's because they are almost identical to how they are described in LotR, with tiny differences.
    I can also say that the sky is not the kind of thing that has a sun in it, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a sun.

  • @42Nightsyesterday

    @TheKingdomeOfOldKing so he couldn't even come up with a word for fire. and you are obviously confused with danish folklore. and even if you were right, the elves in tolkiens works were much more like humans than spirits like in norse mythology. and tolkien was the one who had them live in forests and shoot bows.

    should happen is the author's voice should be good enough to make us forget him and just live the story. I find some of the dialogue to be a little stiff and the characters, at least in this book, don't know about the others, aren't very convincing.

    um, in regards to Dwarfs, Elves, and Humans, it is kinda general fantasy stuff from what I understand. Elves value knowledge and the forest, dwarfs value minerals (earth dwellers) and humans value advancement and domination. In every series that I have read involving these races there has been bloody conflict between the races.
