Greetings from across the pond. My father volunteered his piloting skills to the RAF before the US was involved. Flew Spitfires. I have a photo of him in some makeshift grassy British airfield, next to his plane. Have his medals/pins, RAF and USAAC flight caps, a few "crash" map/hankies and some other items. Watching this its hard to believe my dad did this sh/t. He was old when I was born, other kids thought he was my grampa lol. Lived through war, than cancer killed him. I have no children, hope my great nefuw takes interest in these WWII artifacts when Im gone. War is as stupid as the leaders who want to conquer. Humans suck.

He was away for four years and when he came back home from the war my mum , who was 3 at the time, didn't know he was her father. I never heard him talk about the war. Perhaps he just wanted to put it behind him and get on with life. He might have been suffering from what is nowadays known as PTSD because he would go berserk every now and then over nothing. An old WW2 RAF veteran who fought in the Battle of Britain told me that the war years were the best years of his life because the people he was with were living in the moment without worrying about the future. They would live it up in between battles and some of them never came back.

You got shot twice and even had to spend one day at sea waiting to be rescued. You are a hero to me and many others. You've passed 3 years ago, having made it to 97 years old. I hope you are flying again up there were you are now. We won't forget you.
You know who didn't forget ? The japs after they played fuck around and find out and got nuked twice. The Germans also after having their country leveled
What a glorious tribute to the Battle of Britain, most epic aerial battle in aviation history! The German Luftwaffe and the British RAF met head-to-head like two lions! What valor those British pilots showed as they went up against Hitler's Luftwaffe! Truly Iron Maiden has paid right proper homage to that glorious battle, from the perspective of the RAF. It was the ultimate DOGFIGHT!
RF code for Polish 303 fighter squadron. my grandfather fought and defended England in the 303 Squadron in which he died and was buried in a cemetery in England. I heard that Poles shot at Germans when they saw the pilot's eyes. That's why they were the best
In my eyes all the pilots were just young men who were no different from one an other and were just flying for their home Countries. That's why I showed both German and British planes going down.
I love his speech and his old fashioned British grit. What i despise about him is how he betrayed the foreign pilots that fought for Britain. Polish fighter aces that hated the Nazis more than anyone fled to the UK to defend the isle. After the end of the war, the British government sent them back home to newly controlled Soviet Poland, where Stalins bloodthirsty regime would label them as traitors and spies for fighting with the British. Many of these men should've been given a heroes welcome upon return. Instead, the were tried and executed.

He made it thru war and then to 97..wow. My pops would have been 100 in Dec 2022. RIP.
