- On Eil Malk Island in Palau, you can swim with jellyfish without getting stung. This marine lake was once connected to the ocean, but as the island changed, it was cut off. Now in isolation, it's filled with a jellyfish species found nowhere else. With no predators to keep them in check and plentiful algae to feed on, these golden jellyfish swarm and fill the lake like a cloudy dream. Ready for a swim?

How do you get there?
It's closed due to the terrible drought we experienced in Palau, killing off many of the jellyfish... but they're growing by the numbers by the weeks so it will open maybe sometime soon

not only in Palau. but you can also find stingless jellyfish in three different lakes in Indonesia: Lake Kakaban in East of Borneo Island, Togean Island in Central Sulawesi, Misool in West Papua.
hello hello It is pretty to go and swim with the stingless jellyfish. But the main problem would be swimming below, because there's natural chemicals underneath the deep and it could be harmful to humans.
@@notinmyworld8239 apparantly there's an anoxic layer under the lake in Palau that is concentrated with hydrogen sulfide which can penetrate through the human skin and cause problems
I wanna also mention though it is safe to be with the jelly fish, if you go too far down its deadly, due to a build up of toxic elements, fumes, toxins.
It looked so peaceful, till the swimmer appeared hitting those poor jellyfish. Thanks for sharing.

There is also a jellyfish lake in Derawan Islands, Indonesia too.. Kakaban Island to be exact.. so technically, palau isn't the only place that has it..

Yes they have a stinger but it's too small to sting you so you can't feel anything
That's really cool except that swimming with fins damages the jellies. I've been in 4 stingless jellyfish lakes and all of them ban the use of fins. I hope they will do this as well as the fins are really harmful to these gentle creatures.
and there is also a lake called Sembilan Island in Komodo National Park, Indonesia where yoi can find stingless blue jellyfish

"There is a lake like no other?" Please do your research. Indonesia has at least 6 stingless jellyfish lakes discovered so far, 3 of them already been known since long time ago, Philippines has at least 1 jellyfish lake. And many more in other parts of the world. Stingless jellyfish lake is not only a Palau thing..lol. in fact in Palau there is only one of such lake.

Funny This lake was formed 12000 years ago when Ocean levels were higher and then receded. That would mean humans existed at that time and the climate changed and we survived. Well I'll be damned the world will not end if the climate gets warmer. (or colder) and we didn't even change it back then.
