Problem is that not every Agent on his security detail is qualified or authorized to commandeer the vehicle in case of emergency. The Driver of the vehicle is never more than a few feet from the vehicle for obvious reasons. I'm sure that there are backups should a Driver become incapacitated or injured. The more people that know it's capabilities, the more risk you run of compromising it's and the President's security. He travels with a small army - everyone can't know about it
