This will go pretty good with my buckler. I'm personally kind of glad Windlass is now making no nonsense blades. They may not be shiny, but the black and still shiny stonewash look is VERY interesting to me. I think the coating has much more style than CS's MAA lineup. the stonewash especially looks wicked on the Viking sword!
Thanks for the video, made up my mind after watching it, seems to have great handling characteristics. On another note, I wonder how much white powder did that guy snort before recording haha!
I'm debating between the Windlass Agincourt warsword or the Bosworth longsword. Which would you recommend, just as far as build, construction and attention to detail is concerned? Is the Bosworth heavier and larger?
The first commercially produced and sold sword I "fell in love with" as a kid was a not really accurate replica of "The Kurgan"'s sword from the first Highlander movie. I don't know which manufacturer produced and sold it, because I only knew pictures of it from some magazine article about a dude who had that thing. It was different from the movie sword in that it had a narrower blade and a different pommel (a disc pommel instead of a ball pommel like in the movie). Also it had fixed spikes, protruding in a roughly 45 degree angle above the cross guard, or between the guard and the blade, better said, instead of 2 smaller blades that spring out, like in the movie. To clarify, I didn't like that sword because of the movie. I just liked it for its basic shape and for its dimensions. That it was linked to the movie was just accidental and even back then, as a kid, I would have preferred a more simplistic and practical version of the sword without those spikes. As I said, it wasn't all too similar to the movie sword, with the exception of the spikes and the shape of the cross guard, but in my opinion, it looked much better than the movie original. Now that I'm old enough to have the money to buy a sword, I tried to find that thing, knowing that if I found it, it would probably be one of those cheaply made wall-hangers, made pretty much of tinfoil, which would bend the first time you'd try to hit something with it, which seemed to have been typical in the 80s and 90s. Still, I would have bought it if the price would have been right, just because I find it so beautiful and out of nostalgia, remembering how I stared at that magazine as a kid, wishing I could have that sword. But I never found it. This sword here in the video has the exact same blade shape as my old dream sword, which makes me guess that it perhaps was the Windlass company, which must have produced that old Kurgan sword and now they are probably reusing that blade design for this new sword. Or, if it actually is a accurate replica of an historical sword, whoever made that Kurgan sword borrowed the blade shape from the same historical model. In any case, this is great news for me, because this seems like an even better version of the sword I always wanted. The same sexy blade shape, made of a good high carbon steel, sharp (or at least sharp enough that making it actually sharp wouldn't be too hard, I guess) and without silly, superfluous addons like the spikes/"guard-blades".
Idk i bought this thing and yea it is good looking but it kind of feels like im holding a tooth pick... that tip is more narrow than any of my pocket knives lol
Happens with every "mass" produced sword from time to time; there were even Albions that broke (VERY few), along with Hanwei, my Valiant Armoury Warder saber, LOTS of Darksword Armory crap. Shit happens... Windlass swords may not be the prettiest, but they know their stuff - especially heat treat, usually.
@@brandonjenkins7569 Blade broke at like 15 cm below the top. It just snapped. Its beautifull Decoratio but nothing more wouldnt suggest trying it on anything else than fruits and water bottles
i own this sword, it was sharp allready, but not enought, i sharpened it jo maximun, it was easy to do so, steel and blade is ok! definetly go through human. :D tactical killing machine even for anorher swords, will ya?

Now THIS is what I've been looking for in mass-produced edged weapons reviews. Keep up the great work! Ever though about reviewing the Honshu line?

I have the agincourt sword. The longsword is slightly heavier because it's longer, but both swords are very light and nimble.

The Kurgan blade was much more straight in profile, with a short taper at the tip.
Holy shit what the fuck are you saying

Yer telling me the pool noodle and pumpkin DIDN"T dull the blade?! Get the F---- outa here!
Bought this and was left very unstatisfied after it broke when i was lightly hacking into a rotten stake
Hounskull It was rotten i could have hacked it with my fist and it would have broken

@@roarimbeast2807 I would have fisted that steak for you. Silly billy.
Where did the sword end up breaking? Pommel? Blade? Or at the crossguard. I just ordered one

Sorry John but I don't think that pumpkin is going to dull your blade, lol! But a very nice sword for a very nice price!
That was the Pumpkin of Power, easily a level 37 boss.
I tested it on a pig leg a friend gave me and it severed it in one swing. In my opinion it cuts well 😁
Is this video too dramatic?
