Hello Stranger. I slowed down the video and watched the whole thing. I was lost once or twice. They've built all the new buildings but they have not replaced the street signs since the 1950's. Tiny strips of green here and there. No kidding. Someone hasn't kept up with the times. And buildings that you would have thought would have been the first to be torn down are still there. Occupied, just as they were in the 1960's. And small ones too. Nothing fancy. But those shops are still there with people living above. Someone has refused to sell their property. Interesting to see it all after all these years. I used the buses back then, to go everywhere. I saw buildings that I used to look into the windows every Sunday when I was 11. Little old places back then, and they're still there. Street signs. Tell someone at City Hall. Good video. Thank you. Any illuminated cats in your life?
yes I still have Lil Steve my flashing cat, he's 11 now. I have watched kw grow from year to year, about 400,000 population the 2 cities together, over 600,000 in the Waterloo region.
So you still have Lil Steve? That's wonderful. When I first noticed the population sign when it was for Kitchener only, it was 50,000. It was posted by the stockyards on Victoria Street. My older brother and I would go there to see the animals. We didn't see any cows, etc., in England after the War. That was in the summer of 1955 and it was hot. We both sang on the first CKCO T.V. Xmas Show in 1954. Heavy, heavy snow that year. Long ago. So the stores I'm talking about that are still there today on your video are from 1954/55 too. I am truly happy to know about your cat. So, we are BOTH ''still kicking."

most of those new highrises were built in the last 5 years because of the housing shortage which caused rents to double in 5 or 6 years.
Always good to see what's happening in K-dub. Take a trek around the Strausburg/Chandler area if you ever have time. Would love to see the old 'hood.
