    My stepfather was born on a farm on the fallout path from the Nevada sites. He got prostate cancer at 40, colon cancer at 58, died at 61. There can be no justice for any of us, no real apology or payout - there's just too many of us. When I get cancer in my 60's, who will be able to tell if it's from the nuclear fallout, or the cigarettes my grandmother smoked for 50 years, the Teflon on my mother's frying pans, or the microplastics in my hamburger?

      They can now find the source of cancers. When my dad got cancer they went through his entire past down to how he liked burnt toast. It ended up being genetic but the first male in my family to get the genetic hpv strain & die from it. They research the source nowadays for a more personalized treatment. Only reason he died was that we can't afford insurance so he signed up for an unc medical study. The study was "is less chemo just as effective as the normal amount of chemo". Guess what, it doesn't.

      As long as we as a country continue to value profits over quality, customers, and the well-being of employees… nothing will ever change. Honestly, I think we are too far gone. It’s going to take national crisis of epic proportions (worse than Covid and 9/11) to snap us out of this funk.

    For the last story on atomic tests, i am one of thousands of employees at the hanford nuclear site in richland Wa. We have safety measures that are drilled into us, and we are told these measures were fought by the literial deaths of former employees. Iv heard stories from older employees where in the 80s they where told to straight up ignore safety measures. Thank god this is starting to see more light. My Grandpa was a Marine back in the day and ended up passing away due to ALS in 2003 when he was in his 70s. I asked my Dad about it and he said that there are three possibilities: he was in Vietnam and possibly exposed to agent orange, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune and exposed to contaminated water, and/or he volunteered to be troops on the ground during Nevada nuclear bomb testing in the late 50's. He participated in all of these. Could be all or one of these things - but it’s crazy it’s taken so long for ANY compensation to those involved. My thoughts go out to those still suffering from the testing they did with those bombs.

And 2 the NRP thing we really can’t take the moral high ground of respecting the dead when we don’t even have full bodily autonomy for all humans, so arguing about morality is moot, as long as there are rules in place to make sure doctors are trying everything to save a patient before they NRP them I think it’s fine. While knowing perfectly well, that chemical warfare was illegal.. they claimed it wasn’t a chemical, but a defoliant or herbicide, something ridiculous along those lines. It wasn't just the veterans that were screwed over, but their families as well. My grandfather worked in nuclear weapons testing while in the USMC. After years of weapons testing he developed cancer and died while my mom was young and still in school. What made it even worse was the fact that because his work was classified, my grandmother was denied any assistance after he passed. This left my grandmother alone with 6 kids to raise on her own. My mom would tell me how my grandma worked three jobs and often relied on family and our community. She also had health problems as she grew older and it took our family years of trying to get her the assistance that she was owed and the recognition that my grandfather deserved. I think it literally took my grandma threatening to release information, documents, and certificates that my grandpa gave her before she finally got help. This story hits home for a lot of my family. Dear UA-cam,
    Simple fix. If a third-party claimant on behalf of a channel makes a strike, why don't you have an automatic message going to that channel's primary contact e-mail asking to verify the strike? Surely with how many software engineers at your company, you could implement something like that.

    • @wesleyfravel5149
      @wesleyfravel5149 17 днів тому +23

      Can't. DMCA is technically a legal matter, and UA-cam isn't allowed to be involved other than the company going "Of course, we'll oblige". Otherwise they can be held for legit copyright infringement.

    • @taycrolyn
      @taycrolyn 17 днів тому +16

      @wesleyfravel5149 They could implement a two factor authentication for content being struck. Sending an email to confirm with the company the person striking is legit doesn't get them in trouble, if the company says no, then the claim is fraudulent. If the company says yes then UA-cam still does what it does.
      The fact that you can strike a channel to begin with involves youtube because otherwise someone would have to serve you a cease and desist for copyright infringement, which would have a timelimit for the infringementy to cease and desist or go to court to be sued. There's no perminant strike that could cause you to lose your channel, there's no pause on income durring the grace period, although you wouldn't want the thing your being sued for to make you much because if you lose your likely to pay double back, it's not very social content.
      Social media companies especially streaming services are well within their terms of service to require two factor Authentication for strikes on content. Especially content from the site. Channel to channel strikes.
      They could do a number of things. But they punish the channel, give the earnings of the video to the bad actor and they only provide twofactor review for brands like ABC and Disney who actually do the legal work for a real copyright claim, have lawyers that send the cease and desist as well as make the strike, that sort of thing.
      You can't be sued by some company in Bangladesh on behalf of a channel based in Canada because the cease and desist paperwork would not match the legal preceding from the country of the company or entity making the claim, in the senerio where youtube used a two-factor confirmation for strike managment. UA-cam is lazy and has no reason to devote resource to the department of claim support

He was on a sub tender and the ship closer to the blast and the ship behind his both sunk. Because of it, he finally passed about 10 years ago due to a crazy aggressive cancer. But we were not able to get any assistance from the government or VA because his cancer was too unique. I remember growing up with him telling us all sorts of crazy stories about the blast, like the fact that the higher-ups expected his ship to sink even though it was fully Croud. And One of my best friends. His family was downwind from the Nevada bomb testing. Downwinder syndrome took out 85% of his family. He was an amazing friend and he died due to a second bout with cancer.

I've heard the story tons of time over the years about how they would sometimes get fallout dusting their home and were often told by the authorities way too early that it was safe to be outside. Thankfully my great grandfather was a scientist and owned a geiger counter and knew enough about the science behind radiation to be able to check radiation levels and hose down their home while keeping my grandma and her sisters inside. So far we haven't seen any ill effects, everyone involved lived a very long time/ is still alive, but I can't even imagine what some other families there or closer to the testing might have experienced.

    My grandfather passed away from his second fight with cancer that started in his nose and cheeks. He was a army vet that worked security and cleanup on the Nevada test site. When the government signed that compensation package into law he received a payout on condition that he could not sue the government about the exposure.
    He took the payout as he was financially unsound and relying on family to make ends meet, but a few years later his first round of cancer appeared. Despite being a veteran, his treatment wasn't covered at the VA hospital as he was exposed after he retired from active duty. He easily spend all the money he was given and far more getting treatment so even with the payout he was screwed by the government.
    He loved this country to the end despite how much he knew they had screwed him over. He never was told he was exposed to radiation until he got the check in the mail.

Those deemed deceased will never be awake and alert again. Their body has naturally died. It was their time to go so they went. Keeping the organs in the best shape possible can save so many more of my patients who are awake and alert and some working jobs and having families and all that still.

Those on Medicare or Medicaid have to run circles for years even sometime, to then be canceled randomly without notice. Or going in for something routine and being charged thousands that the insurance won't cover. Or not having insurance and the hospital charging you more because of it. Frankly it's our political leaders as well as permanent factions of the government that are all corrupt. It's them and the corporations vs everyone else. I digress, you can tell I'm fed up.😅

    I'm an organ donor. My late mother was also an organ donor and while she had been dead for a few hours before she was found, I learned at her funeral what parts of her went to others. It's fucking incredible. She lives on in improving the lives of others. If I'm dead with no chance of being saved, and full of fresh viable organs, and the doctors need to do something that will cause me no pain or suffering so they can give someone else a second chance... by all fucking means, dude. Honestly even if I had to be briefly necromancied and was told "hey we need you to be alive on machines for another hour and there's no way you're going to make it out of here", I'd consent to that ahead of time. Giving someone a second chance at life as one's final act is one of the greatest things a person can do, in my opinion. That I could save a child from losing their mother young like I did is what always comes to mind for me. The people that don't like it should just have the option to opt out of it.

    If NRP makes them concious in any way, I'd be 100% against it. If it makes the brain start up again as well, that's monstrous and should be stopped at all costs. There's absolutely no world that more organ viability is worth whatever someone might endure feeling while the NRP brings them back from death.
    That's a big if though, I do not believe it does, I believe it's ONLY electrical signals to the heart. So I support that. If you are a donor, it should be important to you that your stuff is as viable as possible as quickly as possible. if they've attempted to revive you for the amount of time they usually would, and you remain dead, NRP should be used ASAP to preserve as much organ viability as possible.

I honestly do not understand where react channels get off on even being allowed to be put into the copyright id check system on youtube in the first place.

    I've never commented on a video before, but that Dept of Energy map in the last story that showed the spread of the nuclear fallout around the country, was genuinely one of the most terrifying images I've ever seen! You mean to tell me that they blew up nukes so fucking big, that their radiation blanketed nearly all of the country?!!? Holy Shit!! The people of this country are riddled with health problems, many of which families had zero history of until sometime in the last 60 years. If this radiation got into the soil, into the crops, into the water AND the fallout spread that far across the country? We could be seeing a multi-generational poisoning of the country by its government, and one that could far outreach impacting only the Atomic Vets! How is THAT aspect not a bigger story? Not to mention that an irradiated crop from one part of the country could easily make its way to a less radiated part, furthering the spread. This seems like pure chaos, and a problem that is going to be impacting ALL of us for many, many more generations!

    story1:
    My thoughts and opinions are that I am happy you decided not to include the drama in the prior video, but _did_ decide to include the corrections to ensure their maximal reach.
    Too often corrections are the content that gets no coverage and at best you can hope that only sources which spread the incorrect info bothers to even make them (which is not being anywhere near enough now that content is pushed and recommended by an algorithm and not merely from a weekly newspaper you subscribed to). And even then most of them does it as some kind of tiny footnote instead of similarly first-page clickbaity title as the content that needed said correction had received.
    So while I didn't care about the drama or corrections themselves, I did like to see the effort to spread the latter to such an extent you covered even when the original former was deemed uninteresting.
