    That is a super film. They can be funny to watch! Sad 1 didn't make it.
    I like how you call the newly hatched Ospreys " Bob ". 🙂 They make a Bonnie couple.❤

      'Bob' is short for bobblehead, because they wobble about in the early days while they strengthen their muscles.

    Hello. What do the experts say when will those lovely 3 youngsters take to the air and say goodbye to their home. How long after that will mom and dad keep on feeding them. First time I watch an Osprey nest almost daily. I noticed mom or dad no longer sleep with them. Any chance an owl may attack them during night?

      usually Aila leaves first and Louis will hang around a bit to keep being fish monger. as you see in this video with the date timestamps, we only have a a couple more weeks to enjoy Aila, with Louis and the 3 leaving first part of September. although I've known of owls attacking other nests, I suppose anything is possible in this world of nature. I think I recall an encounter with Aila and an owl but dont recall if it was this year or in years' past. this is my favorite nest to watch, I love this family. I think I started watching in 2017

      Parents will keep feeding them until they leave on migration, end of August beginning of September. Mainly dad Louis, but mum Aila will bring a few fish too. From beginning of August she'll be preparing for migration, she always goes first, last year 2019 on August 13th. Once they're big enough to protect themselves, Aila sleeps off the nest but nearby, the males never sleep on the nest. Owl attack unlikely now as their own chicks will have fledged so they won't see the Ospreys as threats anymore.

      @@susandhifaoui You're right with your timings, I think we have maybe another week of seeing Aila. She suffered owl strikes this year and last year, some just flybys but others where she was actually struck. Here's a recent one: ua-cam.com/video/PdagA1kpccY/v-deo.html

      The licensed raptor expert Lewis Pate ringed them on July 4th, it's at 10:58 on the video.

    Amusing and lovely video! Thank you for posting it! ❤ Is there a gps in the leg band? Do you know where Mallie and Rannoch are?

    • @GeemeffGeemeff
      @GeemeffGeemeff  4 роки тому +3

      No, there's no tracker on the birds. We suspect Mallie and Rannoch are in Africa, probably the Gambia, where many UK Ospreys go to over-winter. The young ones, first-years, tend to stay there for a couple of years and return as three-year olds. Unlikely we'll see them back in Loch Arkaig as females never return to the natal area, unlike the males.
