    I developed a nervous system disorder 5 years ago. I used to be very active outside and lost that ability. I found you and adapted your ideas to build aquaponics systems in the mudroom off our garage. My life has been nothing but pain and fatigue since I developed this. You got me through the worst parts of my life. The knowledge and lessons I learned from you helped to distract me from the hell I was going through. You truly saved my life. I'll forever appreciate it. Please leave your aquaponics stuff up so my kids can learn from it as well. They're getting into their teenage years now. God bless and take care.

    What kept me from aquaponics for 20 years or so was the fear of failing because it seems so complicated. I'm so glad I came across sandponics. IAVS sandponics is so simple there's no filters needed the sand bed is a filter. The ph is perfectly stable. Typically there are no nutrient deficiencies. Sandponics is balanced vs aquaponics is a balancing act.
    Good luck with all your future endeavors. If you ever get the itch again try iavs it's everything you were searching for.

    • @farmerjhemp
      @farmerjhemp 6 місяців тому +1

      @@drzero1563 I'm familiar with someone speculating that was the cause of their fish's death. I don't think there's been any proven cases and there's many systems operating all throughout the Middle East well over 5 years with no issues.

      @drzero1563 6 місяців тому

      @@farmerjhemp Murray Hallam and his team tried sand based media beds for number of years and they were having fish losses regularly. After many tests they found out fishes were being killed due to silica poisoning hence they didn’t continue the pilot project. Maybe, you have different filter mechanisms perhaps you can enlighten us with regard to sand based media bed n your way of filtration. I have never built sand media bed based Aquaponics but I would love to build future farms if indeed silica poisoning doesn’t kill fishes. I have been designing & building Aquaponics commercial farms for 7 years now and sand based media bed will help us a lot if we can stop silica poisoning.

    • @farmerjhemp
      @farmerjhemp 6 місяців тому +1

      @@drzero1563 I'm familiar with that Murray project but I don't think they ever tested for silica poisoning. I'm fairly certain it was just an assumption that silica killed the fish. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. My aquaponics has a channel on here they've been operating their sandponics system over 5 years with no issues. My aquaponics describes sandponics as aquaponics on steroids. Another commercial Farm I'm familiar with is Kewa Egypt. They also started with aquaponics several years ago and have since switched the mostly iavs because they say it's Superior. I understand your hesitation with Murray being an authority and his system not working for whatever reasons. You can always start with a small trial that's completely decoupled from your main system. I don't think silica killed Murray's fish and I only say this because there's at this point there's dozens if not hundreds of systems across the world that have been operating for multiple years without issues. My experience is somewhat limited. My system has only been operating less than a year but I've been educating about sandponics for a few years.
      There is no additional filtration needed. The waste will completely break down in the furrow. A solid waste filter could be used to collect the solids mineralized and then add back. It's hard for me to recommend doing something like this because it hasn't been tested at scale as far as I'm aware. Somewhat recently I started using jadam ferments on my sandbeds and have been seeing very good plant responses.

    Hooooo! That's the first time you've left me teary. It's always hard to say good bye, but this is really hard. What can I say? From all the people I've learned acquaponics from, you inspired the most. I think that any community that has people like you is blessed because this is more than just knowledge, or even dreams. It's a calling, and who knows what the significance of this work will be in the future? Our planet needs to create new ways to grow food and you've been on the cutting edge of that research, sharing your thoughts, experiences, and passion consistently. My dream is to build a truly scalable, commercial organic farm that incorporates, fish, plants, and insects and has an output in the millions of tonnes for both protein and vegetable. When I achieve it, and become a big corporation, one of the reasons why I'll continue to contribute to communities such as this one is people like you freely sharing their knowledge and inspiration who helped so many of us find our calling and grow in it. Words can not say how thankful we are as a community. Thank you, wish you the best - I pray God's blessing over you... Don't you go and be a biscuit headed whatever!

    I've been missing you. It's sad to see you go, but I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. I saw where you were hit by a hurricane and another was on the way when you quit.
    As for anything technical, there is a simplicity that works, but can always be improved, be it aquaponics, electronics, woodworking and more.
    Often I find that in spite of a possible improvement, keeping some of the "drudgery" is more efficient. In the case of aquariums, like aquaponics, I find it is kind of like chasing the perpetual motion machine -- getting the perfect biosphere. I've been doing aquariums all my life, since 16YO. Instead of chasing that perfect aquarium, I discovered certain "bisquit head" tricks that give me my ideal aquarium with minimum maintenance. I clean my external filter once or twice a year at most, and that's the extent of my water changes as well. Once every few years, I may clean and replace some of the gravel. A few plants, a few fish and feed once a day and my tank always looks great. But, no really serious aquarists will ever agree with my method. But, it works.
    I've watched many different aquaponics videos. No other videos compare to the scientific knowledge and expertise you teach! I used to chuckle and call you conceited calling yourself a "god". Now I laugh at the fact I did, LOL... I have not seen anyone in your league!
    I saw you quickly move from small systems to professional farm sized systems, which is where you left me. I'm just a hobbyist working in a small corner of a room in my home. The trick to the small system, and possibly to the larger one, is keeping the system mechanically clean while keeping a bio balance that feeds both the plants and fish. This is where I find most of the "simple" turn to "complex". This is where I saw your systems grow from simple to complex as well.
    Automating the clean fish tanks and bacteria balance is easy. Once I introduce plants, it gets dirty, really fast, and keeping the aquarium clean and bacteria/chemicals for plants and fish balanced, is where things get complicated. I find the cleaning process affecting the nitrogen cycle.
    I would love to have picked your brain for ideas.
    I really appreciate everything you shared. It has been wonderful learning from you.
    God Bless and do well.

    I used to have a dirt garden. And I always had to hoe weeds, fight insects and water, water water and bend over all the time. When I started doing aquaponics, I stood upright and just picked tomatoes off the vines. It was so easy in comparison. No weeds and no watering with aquaponics. So from that perspective aquaponics is so easy. I think that many people who haven't gardened in dirt, growing aquaponically seems like it's not working efficiently, that it takes too much time and needs more work. I loved your story, you really contributed a lot to the art of aquaponics.

    Shalom family, will you be posting any videos of different content? In particular, more videos like the ones you once did on who the true Biblical children of Isreal are? I'm sure you get this question a lot from our community. I know it goes w/o saying but don't allow some wicked camps to shake you faith family. It would be great to have you back in that capacity again. APTTMH!

    I definitely understand what you are saying about having to let go of your preconceptions about the future to see the path you were meant to be on. I definitely learned alot from you when I started my journey in agriculture. Though I grow mostly in the dirt these days, the science and engineering I learned from you and others in the community still are part of what my wife and I do today on our small farm. Thank you for the work you put into the channel and all the best to you and your wife.

    i finally saw your new upload with this title, and thought that you were just kidding..

    my only request is for you NOT to delete this channel and the videos that you have uploaded as i will still watch them as reference when i encounter some challenges in my own aquaponics system..
    GOD BLESS YOU, BROOKLYN!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your inspirational videos! I loved building my chop & flip system. Then went on to build an indoor shelf sized system. Had success & failures, tore everything down. Turned it into self watering outdoor grow beds. I had no clue why I was so driven to build & grow!? Finally decided to sell the HOA restricted house, bought land and getting into homesteading. Now I realized that God did not want us to “eat ze bugs”, own nothing & be happy!
