Love the massive amounts of gear in this clip. It seems that Bozzio has always had a big kit and Eddie's rig probably takes three articulated trucks to deliver. Love it!
Totally awesome band with a powerhouse of a lineup...Wetton's vocals are so commanding and lots of emotion, control and forceful...up high and down low Wetton could get it with impeccable bass.....Jobson...totally awesome...bozio....well awesome as well.........Too bad they only could put together a few albums...but hey it was a good run....saw them with Tull........amazing...outshone tull.........thanks for the posting of this vid...
This track paved the way to Asia's musical style and songwriting. UK were the right band in the wrong time, even a commercial single like this was largely unnoticed. A short life, a couple of great line ups and three fantastic albums.
was amazed to run across Eddie Jobson At NAMM demoing a keyboard and later that eveing at a restuarant at the next table- He will be at nearfest this year
The reunion took place few days ago, but it was an one-off event, and probably never again (3 gigs in Poland: Krakow, Warsaw, Bydgoszcz). Lots of clips on youtube already :)
saw them open for jethro tull , then the next thing you know, eddie's playing with tull ! one of the best 3 pc. bands i've ever seen. i saw bozio with zappa 1976 boston...
Yeah but man when I saw this line up at the Paladium in NYC in '79 and they played 'Carrying No Cross', 'The Only Thing She Needs', Bozzio tore it up..it was an amazing show
Note on 0:47 about Eddie Jobson keyboard arrangement . Think, the CS-80, the Electric Grand, the Hammond organ. All of them cumbersome, and heavy as tanks. So, roadies probably hated EJ when moving his equipment. They pulled a serious prank on him the last date on their tour with Jethro Tull. Since EJ played "like Emerson", i e with front facing audience and one keyboard (or stack of keyboard to the right) and the CP-70, and CS-80 at stage left, he played in that position most of the time. Now, each night it had to be exact distance between left and right keyboard stacks and they couldn't be moved the slightest inch either way, while the show was on. No casters on anything! Now on the last night they expanded the distance so EJ had to struggle with the stretches. Ian (Anderson) said "and he's stretched ever since". EJ got furiously mad, as he couldn't pull or drag the keyboards towards him.
i actually auditioned for eddie jobson right around this period. percy jones set it up for me, but not long afterwards, jobson decided not to do the solo project he was auditioning me for.
Good quality vid. As for who's better than who; Jeez, they're all top of the pile dudes. I always thought the best UK would have been John, Alan, Bill, and Eddie. Not that I don't think Terry is one of the best pounders in the business; Just that Bill's style fit the nucleus better on the first exploration.
Probably the best band of prog, for total skill and because with a few records they made the impossible for all the others! But perfection was with allan holdsworth!
@joergen100 My comment was meant as a teaser It's beautiful, now very famous instrument The whole story regarding Eddie Jobson's clear violin is available on Eddie Jobson Forum The shortcut there, enter clear violin in google images then click on Eddie's photo, it takes you right there Ampeg makes guitars like that As for not using timber by New Zealanders to build warships, I guess you skipped history lesson when they were talking about Waitangi war canoe :-)
The finest bubblegum. I wish the radio market in the US appreciated UK, or at least given them a chance. Not much King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Roxy Music, was played in middle-sized markets. College radio stations would occasionally play a song or two. You had to know when to listen. For me, it was 6:30 a.m. (ugh).
@tomnook111 Well, this clip was intended to be a TV promo, yeah? If so, I don't believe stereo sound came to television until the 80's, so maybe it was mixed to mono originally on film from the album, rather than build a mono from scratch. Not like it makes the song or band any less awesome. :P
This time in Dutch. Een band die niet meer bekend is bij de huidige media maar wel zaken op een rijtje heeft gezet muzikaal. Geschiedenis is geweldig maar je moet je er wel in verdiepen. Groetjes Rob eyes@online.nl

Sure this video isn't quite reality, but Eddie is technically proficient with sequencers set to play repeating parts. His violin has effect pedals and could mimic a guitar or keyboard or...hah hah, it's technology paired with genius. John Wetton also did a bit of that, too.
@TosiekDegutis :-) When you put a violin through a PA it doesn't actually matter that much anyway. It look cool though, don't you think? We are also ready to supply timber from NZ if that is the main problem, never used our timber on warship like the Europeans:-)
Saw the Golden Bear marquee (Huntington Bch. CA) Back in the early 80s. Listed was UK Squeeze. O.K. two bands. ARGHHHH Noooo it was Jools Holland UK/Squeeze. Band was decent but I really wanted these guys up there. Oh well back to the drawing board.
Rare shows in 1986. I think MP only had a few on the west coast. I was ready to buy tickets for any east coast show that never materialized. Was not aware of the internal bad issues & the fact they owed 700K to capital for over production costs on Color in your life. Not sure why they gambled again go with a dance type of record with BE, why not go get Ken Scott who made there only hit record, Sping Session M & go back to basics.
So I know that they just overlaid the studio version of the song, but it sounds different (like no double-tracking on JW's voice). Was this a mono sound source or stereo mixed down to mono?
Killer footage. It would be nice to see U.K. reform although I doubt Allan Holdsworth would ever have anything to do with it. This line-up could be a possibility (?)
Everything? They just lost a great guitarist. They replaced one great drummer with another great drummer. They didn't lose the lead singer and lyricist. And they didn't lose the composer of 95% of the music (Jobson) --- surely the UK music is the most important ingredient.
@@artrock5741 true, they replaced great players with other great players but I felt holdsworth really took the music to another level. When he left I felt UK wasn't the same. I could not appreciate Holdsworth on his own either but together their debut is one of my all time favorites.
Always one of my favourite band. Great song.
The best rock band of all times; by far; Nothing to Lose.

the only way to describe this band to others that never heard of them is to tell them it's pre Asia
