Municipal Planning By-law amended to encourage development of affordable rental accommodation

The City is proposing amendments to the Municipal Planning By-law, one of which provides for the development of affordable rental flats as an additional use right in 194 selected residential areas. This is to encourage micro- and small developers to invest in areas with a high demand for affordable rental accommodation. The revised MPBL is available for comment at www.capetown.gov.za/haveyoursay.
