Interesting thing about the King Tigers- the P and H's turrets weren't designed by Porsche and Henschel, respectively. Krupp manufactured both the pre-production and production variants. The 'Porsche' turret was meant to be mounted on Porsche hulls, but as no Porsche designs were successfully approved, Krupp gave the curved turrets to Henschel to use on their hull design that was approved for production, and those were used until they ran out and switched to the flatter design.
They realized the shot trap wasn't doing any favors to them, so they redesigned the turret. The first 50 king tigers had that turret, while every other ones after had the "Henschel" variant.

Another sad example of a beautiful design, but doesn't work in combat. Another example is the Panther's turrets. It's a sexy design, but again it also suffered a shot trap. If the war went kept going into '46 we would have been seeing more of the "pig nosed" Panthers.
He never actualy says that a tank is bad. He always just says that some tanks are worse then others. Every german tank is extremely powerfull and non of them suffer.
Just looked in the game: The wiki is indeed wrong, it is 6.3 in RB and 6.7 in AB and SB but the wiki put's it a 6.7 in all gamemodes. Thank you for pointing that out.

Hey oxy, I know phly dominates the "meme" style of war thunder, which he is great at, but one thing he lacks is the informative style. I think that style suits you. You should start a series on tactics, war thunder news and tank/plane reviews. Quickybaby does this for WoT while jingles does the meme. There is a good balance over there for that. I hope you do more regular videos, cause your content is great

Note for the Porsche Tiger: These models (which include Ferdie) have the same forward and reverse speeds. A gimmicky play that some players used to do was driving the Tiger in reverse with the turret facing forward (like the Archer) so that when an enemy was encountered, the Engine would eat the shot and protect the crew.
i can tell that you played all of these tanks, and i agree with all the recommendations and skipping of tanks. You really show off the advantages and disadvantages, also overlooked ones like reverse speed, gun bouncing etc wich can decide if you get a kill or survive.Wich ammo or guns are dangerous for your tanks, if mg fire is dangerous etc etc. Great video, More, longer, for every nation, please

Thanks a lot for all the amazing stuff! I started the game a few months ago after watching your beginner guide, and I'm really having a blast. I'm still derping around in arcade while learning the maps and weak spots of different tanks. Your videos + reddit have been my main sources of info about the game. I must say that many things are very different in arcade, especially the optimal lineups, as the respawn mechanics and BRs of many vehicles are not the same. But these videos will surely be even more useful on the day when I eventually feel brave enough to start playing realistic. So I really hope to see many more videos coming up in the future!
Love your channel and videos, as a very new player grinding away on Germans, thanks to your intros to them I have been able to grind faster and have more fun doing so. Also gotten some friends to play with me and since they are grinding Russians I sent them links to your channel and they love it as well. Thank you for the video. I think you should have mentioned that Tiger II (H) is very susceptible to being one shot by anything piercing the turret from the front as there is an ammo rack that you cannot empty and so every shot that penetrates the turret almost guarantees death.

one of the biggest advantages of the ostwind ii is that it not only has 2 guns, but both are independently modeled. Which means if one has a breech destroyed or a barrel shot off, the other can keep shooting. You can even keep shooting while repairing. this is a life saver.

I've had to rewind and slo-mo that 1st kill down 3 times and still did not get visual on what you saw. I'm usually that dude in the Blackcat blasting through thinking no ones pushed up because of my fast AF style of play. Another down side of the Panther G is that the 0,3 BR increase makes the extra armor irrelevant. and the chin becomes as easy if not easier to pen then the maintlet of Panther A because it is facing better guns, which against the Panther A still had a slight chance to bounce on the upward angle of the maintet The chin on the G was specificaly designed to counter 75mm American and 76mm russian guns from shottrapping while at the same time being strong enough to take the full hit of such a shell on it,s own but facing guns having more then enough pen to go right through it makes it a huge weakspot. most of the time.
Yeah IMO Gaijin should have brought the Panther G down to 5.7 if anything. The Panther A should go back up to 6.0 and the Panther D could be argued to see a reduction to 5.3 because the slow turret is crippling.
I've been to Bovington Tank Museum and been in the famous tiger room. You have a Tiger I, Tiger II and Ferdinand in all one room and your spine just tingles. You just can't believe how big they are. I walked up to the front of the Tiger II and gave the front plate a massive slap and the gorgeous girl just made the sound of slapping an backside. A few people looked at me like i was weird but I didn't care. As far as I was concerned, for 10 minutes...she was mine.
Another advantage of the Waffeln strictly in AB and mostly at medium range, is that if you're sideways and expose only your turret the enemy will really get confused, because your nametag is offsetted from your turret, and might end up shooting at thin air

I've been away from the game for about a year so finding out Gaijin finally gave Germany a good light tank in the 6.0-7.0 area is nice. The US M41 is good bit of fun to use and I can always rely on it even in my 7.7 line-ups so seeing that Germany gets one too is pretty great.
Fun fact, the techtree and premium Jagdpanthers are slightly different. The premium is an early version with the thin rim around the gun's porthole, while the TT variant is a late model with the up-armored rim.
You could have mentioned that the Panther F, while technically having thicker turret armour, does not have the mantlet the A and G have, so at mid to close range enemies will have a far easier time shooting and penetrating your turret since there are no overlapping armour plates and no trolly angles. Honestly I think it's in that aspect by far the worst Panther for close range, aside from the Panther D. In that regard I'd even rather use the Panther G.
10:14 my tip for the tiger II turret is to angle the turret ~20 degrees to the side. And also wiggle it a bit(but that isn’t really necessary in my opinion).
FYI - the real Panther-II wouldn't have had a Panther Ausf.G turret. The existing prototype in the US only has a G turret because the US Army mated it with the hull for ordnance testing after capturing it. The real Panther-II turret designed by the Germans would have been entirely new and unlike earlier Panther turrets or the F schmalturm. There were several proposals, but the most likely used would have had 150mm front plate with 60mm sides and rear. The shape would have been squarish with a large flat front plate, slightly sloping sides (aprox 25 degrees) and rear. The gun mantlet would have been a new design, quite small, most closely resembling the "Topfblede" gun mantlet on the Jagdpanzer-IVs. It would have also retained the 7.5cm KwK L/70 and not the 8.8cm KwK L/71. There was a proposal to equip a schmalturm with an 8.8cm KwK L71 but that was a separate project unrelated to the Panther-II. The reason we have the image of a Panther-II with an Ausf.F schmalturm and an 8.8cm KwK L71 is entirely due to plastic model companies combining separate German projects into a single tank design for marketing purposes.
One year later and German 6.7 is at a period of revival, since British sabots got moved to 7.3 and US line up got up tiered a bit as well. I started playing German 6.7 again recently and it’s super enjoyable.
The Tiger II H Sla.16 was the first premium tank I bought and to be honest, I think it's the most fun one I have, probably because I just love playing the Tiger IIs. From a premium standpoint it's also one of the most "fair" ones as it's just a Tiger II with an extra MG, almost negligible extra turret protection and that accelerates slightly faster.
I still love my Command Tiger P. The reverse speed is really handy and people tend to see the turret and immediately assume it's an unangled tiger. so you very often get at least one free hit which gives you time to react. And sicne the hull armor protects the driver and transmission you can always back off quickly if they do pen the turret.
little history knowledge the panther 2 removed was a different project for the panther, the panther 2 we have in the game is from the other panther project witch si the panther 88 witch never left the drawing board, the actual panther 2 witch did have 2 prototypes here basically up armored panther Gs and the turret was also slightly smaller and the side angels where coming in some mroe so the turret was smaller overall the flak panzer 341 only the turret was wooden
I would say that if you get a 50% discount on the Tiger 2 pack and you havent grinded germany its the better option. It will give you the experience of the german tech tree and help you grind up to tier 5 while still being a good tank
i completely agree with the verdict on the Jagdpanther, i played a lot of hetzer at 4.3 so i thought hmm might unlock the jagdpanther and see if i like it. Completely fell in love, made a 6.3 lineup, propably one of my favourite tanks now and havent really played any other lineups since.
@@catbear3294 no, dedicated aircraft won't be coming anytime soon. Here's what you need for Germany in props. 109G2 100K4 190D9 Ta 152H1(learn this bird before taking it out) The rest Cas centric aircraft are mentioned by oxy in his lineup part of the video and they're perfect.
The grind is tough. btw, the premium jagpanther used to be an event reward for doing certain mission during the time period. Instead of wasting away 6k, you could get one for free like I had. That was when I had lots of time to waste as a kid. not sure if the event will come back, haven't seen it since. it should be one of the December event in 2014-2015 (I don't know correctly). sadly i didn't unlocked the russian one cause i didn't invested in Russian tank tree at that time.

Note for the Porsche Tiger: These models (which include Ferdie) have the same forward and reverse speeds. A gimmicky play that some players used to do was driving the Tiger in reverse with the turret facing forward (like the Archer) so that when an enemy was encountered, the Engine would eat the shot and protect the crew.
i can tell that you played all of these tanks, and i agree with all the recommendations and skipping of tanks. You really show off the advantages and disadvantages, also overlooked ones like reverse speed, gun bouncing etc wich can decide if you get a kill or survive.Wich ammo or guns are dangerous for your tanks, if mg fire is dangerous etc etc. Great video, More, longer, for every nation, please

Thanks a lot for all the amazing stuff! I started the game a few months ago after watching your beginner guide, and I'm really having a blast. I'm still derping around in arcade while learning the maps and weak spots of different tanks. Your videos + reddit have been my main sources of info about the game. I must say that many things are very different in arcade, especially the optimal lineups, as the respawn mechanics and BRs of many vehicles are not the same. But these videos will surely be even more useful on the day when I eventually feel brave enough to start playing realistic. So I really hope to see many more videos coming up in the future!
Love your channel and videos, as a very new player grinding away on Germans, thanks to your intros to them I have been able to grind faster and have more fun doing so. Also gotten some friends to play with me and since they are grinding Russians I sent them links to your channel and they love it as well. Sure I do not get insane kill results like you do but it has become less frustrating and more fun. Even if matchmaking Gods don't bless me every time

I think you should have mentioned that Tiger II (H) is very susceptible to being one shot by anything piercing the turret from the front as there is an ammo rack that you cannot empty and so every shot that penetrates the turret almost guarantees death.
I don't know how he can spot a couple of pixels and get the most accurate shot in only 2 seconds

21:12 sorry, I have no idea what you said because I was too busy dieing over the fact that a T -34 didn't notice a panzer panther weighing 50+ tonnes if I remember correctly tumbling down a cliff right behind him
one of the biggest advantages of the ostwind ii is that it not only has 2 guns, but both are independently modeled. Which means if one has a breech destroyed or a barrel shot off, the other can keep shooting. You can even keep shooting while repairing. this is a life saver.

Another down side of the Panther G is that the 0,3 BR increase makes the extra armor irrelevant. and the chin becomes as easy if not easier to pen then the maintlet of Panther A because it is facing better guns, which against the Panther A still had a slight chance to bounce on the upward angle of the maintet
The chin on the G was specificaly designed to counter 75mm American and 76mm russian guns from shottrapping while at the same time being strong enough to take the full hit of
such a shell on it,s own but facing guns having more then enough pen to go right through it makes it a huge weakspot. most of the time.
Yeah IMO Gaijin should have brought the Panther G down to 5.7 if anything. The Panther A should go back up to 6.0 and the Panther D could be argued to see a reduction to 5.3 because the slow turret is crippling.
I've been to Bovington Tank Museum and been in the famous tiger room. You have a Tiger I, Tiger II and Ferdinand in all one room and your spine just tingles. You just can't believe how big they are. I walked up to the front of the Tiger II and gave the front plate a massive slap and the gorgeous girl just made the sound of slapping an backside. A few people looked at me like i was weird but I didn't care. As far as I was concerned, for 10 minutes...she was mine.
Another advantage of the Waffeln strictly in AB and mostly at medium range, is that if you're sideways and expose only your turret the enemy will really get confused, because your nametag is offsetted from your turret, and might end up shooting at thin air

I've been away from the game for about a year so finding out Gaijin finally gave Germany a good light tank in the 6.0-7.0 area is nice. The US M41 is good bit of fun to use and I can always rely on it even in my 7.7 line-ups so seeing that Germany gets one too is pretty great.
Fun fact, the techtree and premium Jagdpanthers are slightly different.
The premium is an early version with the thin rim around the gun's porthole, while the TT variant is a late model with the up-armored rim.
You could have mentioned that the Panther F, while technically having thicker turret armour, does not have the mantlet the A and G have, so at mid to close range enemies will have a far easier time shooting and penetrating your turret since there are no overlapping armour plates and no trolly angles. Honestly I think it's in that aspect by far the worst Panther for close range, aside from the Panther D. In that regard I'd even rather use the Panther G.
I like the A the most, it has the highest HP/ton ratio and turret rotation speed while being at a lower BR
10:14 my tip for the tiger II turret is to angle the turret ~20 degrees to the side. And also wiggle it a bit(but that isn’t really necessary in my opinion).
FYI - the real Panther-II wouldn't have had a Panther Ausf.G turret. The existing prototype in the US only has a G turret because the US Army mated it with the hull for ordnance testing after capturing it. The real Panther-II turret designed by the Germans would have been entirely new and unlike earlier Panther turrets or the F schmalturm. There were several proposals, but the most likely used would have had 150mm front plate with 60mm sides and rear. The shape would have been squarish with a large flat front plate, slightly sloping sides (aprox 25 degrees) and rear. The gun mantlet would have been a new design, quite small, most closely resembling the "Topfblede" gun mantlet on the Jagdpanzer-IVs. It would have also retained the 7.5cm KwK L/70 and not the 8.8cm KwK L/71. There was a proposal to equip a schmalturm with an 8.8cm KwK L71 but that was a separate project unrelated to the Panther-II. The reason we have the image of a Panther-II with an Ausf.F schmalturm and an 8.8cm KwK L71 is entirely due to plastic model companies combining separate German projects into a single tank design for marketing purposes.

One year later and German 6.7 is at a period of revival, since British sabots got moved to 7.3 and US line up got up tiered a bit as well. I started playing German 6.7 again recently and it’s super enjoyable.
The Tiger II H Sla.16 was the first premium tank I bought and to be honest, I think it's the most fun one I have, probably because I just love playing the Tiger IIs. From a premium standpoint it's also one of the most "fair" ones as it's just a Tiger II with an extra MG, almost negligible extra turret protection and that accelerates slightly faster.

FYI, the Tiger II (P) turret wasn't made by Porche. That's a common misconception. It's a Krupp turret.
I still love my Command Tiger P. The reverse speed is really handy and people tend to see the turret and immediately assume it's an unangled tiger. so you very often get at least one free hit which gives you time to react. And sicne the hull armor protects the driver and transmission you can always back off quickly if they do pen the turret.
little history knowledge the panther 2 removed was a different project for the panther, the panther 2 we have in the game is from the other panther project witch si the panther 88 witch never left the drawing board, the actual panther 2 witch did have 2 prototypes here basically up armored panther Gs and the turret was also slightly smaller and the side angels where coming in some mroe so the turret was smaller overall

I would say that if you get a 50% discount on the Tiger 2 pack and you havent grinded germany its the better option.
It will give you the experience of the german tech tree and help you grind up to tier 5 while still being a good tank
i completely agree with the verdict on the Jagdpanther, i played a lot of hetzer at 4.3 so i thought hmm might unlock the jagdpanther and see if i like it. Completely fell in love, made a 6.3 lineup, propably one of my favourite tanks now and havent really played any other lineups since.

I literally got it yesterday, and it has been absolutely excellent so far. Two aces in about five matches, all uptiers. Good periscopic sight too.

btw, the premium jagpanther used to be an event reward for doing certain mission during the time period. Instead of wasting away 6k, you could get one for free like I had. That was when I had lots of time to waste as a kid. not sure if the event will come back, haven't seen it since. it should be one of the December event in 2014-2015 (I don't know correctly).
sadly i didn't unlocked the russian one cause i didn't invested in Russian tank tree at that time.
