Reason why mumbai and pune resell cars are cheaper is very specific. Most of the Mumbai car have rust in their underbody due to weather conditions hence they are sold at cheaper rates , these mumbai car seeps into pune resell market and due to market forces pune car rates also get normalise to these lower rates. But due to general price rise in whole automotive industry, these cheaper resell market also aren’t very cheap these days
Lovely to see folks sharing same pastimes. The Civic is a spectacular car. Just came back from a 300 km road trip in my 2008 FD1 Civic. I cruised at ~110 km/h through the highways, some backroads, and it returned ~15 km/l of fuel efficiency. You can cruise around at high speeds in comfort and relative silence pretty much the entire day in this car. Feels special everytime I drive it and an absolute peach to look at!
Thank you for the video. The BMW 3gt is from my area lol.. PS : Pune prices are 10% higher more than mumbai, the reason is especially in the luxury segment, is the sheer volume of luxury cars in mumbai. Where every 6th car is a Import; in pune the number is 20-25 for a luxury car. Also parking costs a bomb in mumbai, not so much in pune. Although rust is a issue in mumbai due to humidity. But i am glad to hear we get better deals in maharashtra than other states.

I really liked how you guys managed to put a good price tag on it. This really gives me more clarity to roam around in market as I'm really novice. Sorry for a loaded question. I;ve got 2 additional queries: 1. Lets take the example of Civic, the civic was 3 years old and we took the dep to be around 40% , since it was driven 75K already, do you think we should be calculating the dep based on the Kms driven ? Lets say a sedan like that can peak ~1.5Lac Kms , should we consider the 75K as 50% dep ? 2.Do people buy cars out of state? Say Im living in NCR and i want to get the car from Maharashtra and then change the registration, is it possible ?
2-The change of registration is possible, you'd have to get the car registered in NCR and pay road tax, and apply for a new number. I'm guessing all of it would cost under Rs 1L
20:12 The owners are so emotionally attached to their car, so such owners put emotional appreciation value on their car. This may happen to some cars if they are limited in numbers or they are discontinued by the car manufacturer in some of the segments.
Most of ads you see on olx , are posted by dealers through their personal id , so that it doesn’t come out with the image that we associate with 2nd hand car dealers
That['s a great analysis. Just a recommendation : To have a fair calculation, you must also take inflation in consideration. For example, the value of 10 lakhs in 2019 was higher than the value of 10 lakhs in 2024 Hence, just by looking at the price of the car back when it was launched isn't the complete picture. The 10 lakhs that he paid for the car was more expensive than the 10 lakhs you are setting as the benchmark. Factoring in 6% inflation would be fair with the seller and give a better idea to the consumers. Thanks!

Great video format! Do more for the 30-35 lacs (on road priced @launch time) cars. I would rather apportion a higher depreciation for a High end car since you pay for the worth rather than brand value (which inflates the high end cars’ price) in the second hand market. What are your thoughts on it?
Hey guys, enjoyed the video well. 2 questions in my mind. 1st how to see the ex showroom price back date for that model ( tried & failed on autocar). 2nd the thumb rule of ur depreciation for petrol (5 years~35-40%%) was not seen to be applicable in TN market, no cars(
Just FYI on the prices... The worst is Bangalore.. people here seem to have a lot of money to spare due to which its a dealer is making humongous profits especially on cars that cost 20 lks plus.. They give terrible reasons when to want to sell and opposite reasons when you want to buy ... For a guy who knows a fair bit about depreciation ans brands value plus the market they just don't allow negotiation due to which I bought an Octavia with atleast 2 lks more than what i would get in Mumbai or Delhi.. of course Direct proportions of road tax considered when I say 2 lks more
Also I was just window shopping and first had my mind on Jeep Compass to trade my 5th gen City but then eliminated that and Octavia/Superb; cars just don't get better than these so I stuck with Octavia and spent travelling within Bangalore in the peak summer of April 2024 and finally landed a great car from an owner I could speak to.. While he sold it for 16 lks, I bought it for 21 lks and I wanted to negotiate to 20 with all good reasons but the dealer just wouldn't agree

A lot of flooded sedans in NCR used car market, just saw a swift dzire flooded in sector 89, Gurgaon today, guess that'll be in resale market tomorrow 😆
I got frustrated after seeing such ads on olx and all, since you asked for suggestions there are two reasons. 1. Start ups like spinny, cars 24 n all, they played a big role 2. Price increase after covid, 10-15% high for newer models, Majorly for top models.
Hi! I am looking to buy a car and preferably a used car to be able to learn and be confident at driving. However, I am unsure of which car shall best suit my requirement. If possible, could you make a video on cars in the used market having one of the best transmissions.
Well I think one thing that is not accounted for is the crazy inflation of prices of cars in the covid times and how expensive cars have begun. We should factor in the cost of a new car in a similar segment and then calculate the percentage depreciation. For eg to look at the Endeavour we should look at the cost of the base variant of fortuner.
For a used car, it is not about the price of car, but the value for buyer and seller. The meeting point of price is the moment of truth ! Inflation is for new cars, for used cars, it is always depreciation from the purchase price. Remember a car is a depreciating asset ! The argument for inflation for new cars does not hold for a used car, hence the deprecation is always calculated on the original purchase price!
I think while talking about the asking prices, we’re ignoring the time value of money. That’s the reason for it seeming to be high. (Some are actually high - Endy)

This I realised after I took my mechanic after the PDI service guy went and found the discrepancy. One can also locate the under body rust easily by visual inspection if one personally doesnt shy away from
Not sure how the inference was drawn that resale cars are better priced in Maharashtra 1) Due to diesel car age restrictions in NCR , gas guzzling ones are surely to be junked for pennies there 2) Road tax in MH is much higher than NCR. Not sure why the owner would tend to forget the tax component while selling
Sorry I'm 4 days late on this video, was out of the country. Pranay, why pay 1-1.5 lakh on maintenance on a second hand luxury car ? I pay 15-25k for service by opting for gomechanic for my CLA. Been 5 years and no complaints.
Hi Archit, love how you started by saying sorry I'm 4 days late 😍 Thank you for your patronage! The point I was trying to make was that if something goes wrong (higher chance with a pre owned car), the expenses can be a lot higher than usual cars in the 20-25L price bracket. So If someone can't afford a new 3 series for example, they shouldn't get tempted by a pre owned 3 series. Because service costs don't discriminate 😂
budget 30 lakhs,a very hard sedan preference (i hate suv's), uncompromisable emphasis on safety, reliability and long life. don't care about resale value as will use till it's end of life, open for second hand stuff too, not a heavy driver... prefer automatic transmission... please suggest thank you.

Interesting though I'm not sure I entirely agree with demand of petrol cars being lower in MH. Thanks for sharing!
@@pranayk37 so being an out an out car guy, i have finally ventured into flipping cars, giving a direction to my extensive knowledge and never ending interest in this field, i thought why not just buy good cars, enjoy them and then pass on the good cars to the people looking for one. its not been that long but i have witnessed my Diesel car listings getting a lot of attention from maharashtra and down south as compared to the petrol ones!
Nowadays West Bengal cars are cheaper than Delhi and Maharashtra, please consider and explain please
@@Bhakthi_Prapatti mostly the wb cars are lower priced because the tax has not been paid for lifetime that is 15 years. WB has a law where in you can just pay road tax for 5 years and then repay for next year and so on.
Also if you are planning to buy a car which is from WB and has a life time tax paid and is still coming at a lower price from Bombay or Delhi, please, please get the car odometer reading cross verified through the service history of the car. There are good number of cases malpractices happening there. It exists everywhere but slightly more in WB in my opinion, according to my research, no offence to anyone. Thanks
Great video format! Do more for the 30-35 lacs (on road priced @launch time) cars. I would rather apportion a higher depreciation for a High end car since you pay for the worth rather than brand value (which inflates the high end cars’ price) in the second hand market. What are your thoughts on it?
We'll cover some in that segment, thanks for the suggestion
Hey guys, enjoyed the video well. 2 questions in my mind.
1st how to see the ex showroom price back date for that model ( tried & failed on autocar).
2nd the thumb rule of ur depreciation for petrol (5 years~35-40%%) was not seen to be applicable in TN market, no cars(
In the current marketplace, getting a new car with deep discounts is an easier task. The mumbai traffic takes its toll on the DSGs
Agreed - in the new car space, it is a buyer's market currently with pent up inventory for certain brands and models.
HOW DO YOU GUYS CALCULATE DEPRICIATION?
NEED A PART 2 OR LIVE VERSION OF THIS PLS!
Thanks for sharing and congrats on your car!
My girlfriend is in a thirdwheel relation with me and olx autos.
Even if I come to delhi I have driven a few cars which I had seen before.
Have helped my friends get Passat, Tiguan and Superb
I've test driven a Mumbai car and it had rust underneath, I think the salty sea water is the culprit? Thoughts of others?
A lot of flooded sedans in NCR used car market, just saw a swift dzire flooded in sector 89, Gurgaon today, guess that'll be in resale market tomorrow 😆
😢
i think its exactly opposite , in north india used cars are quoted less than in maharashtra
U get good deal for cars in mumbai and pune as many of them are those cars which were flooded during rain
Interesting, thanks for sharing
I got frustrated after seeing such ads on olx and all, since you asked for suggestions there are two reasons.
1. Start ups like spinny, cars 24 n all, they played a big role
West Bengal cars are cheaper than Delhi and Maharashtra, Is it worth buying there?
Ford is nailing it with their aftersales..
Really? Good to know and thanks for sharing!
Looking for a DL reg car and maybe drive somewhere out of NCR,so more value out of it.
Diesel or petrol !
And any suggestions to huy from ?
Summarising second hand car window shopping experience.
"BUY A NEW ONE"
I want this every week lfgg love the content
Can we have part two of this with cars like honda jazz and brezza?
btw the newer civic was not a cbu (impoterd) it was manufactured in India
It's a CKD (completely knocked down) unit and not entirely made in India
Hi Pranay!
I absolutely love your content! I admire the "jugalbandi" you have with your co-hosts/guests/friends/colleagues/jugaad freaks/deal-addicts.
I hope this comes across the right way, but I wanted to suggest investing in a good quality microphone for your videos. Trust me, a better mic would elevate your content significantly.
P.S. To celebrate hitting 10k subs, you could even consider gifting mics to the aforementioned 'deal-addicts'!
Thanks for your comment Sanjiv, noted on the sound

Appreciate the reply, Pranay!
I see something special brewing here. This format (not just this video, but the channel as a whole) is going to take off. Enjoy that tasty finance CPM, mate!
Just wanted to reiterate that the comment about your sound was made in good faith. I know content creation is tough in the beginning, and it might take a while to get a handle on all the variables.
Looking forward to seeing how your channel evolves-keep up the great work!
No no totally get it. Thank you for caring enough to share feedback 😅
I have a Rode mic but just forgot to record using it because was running late. But will not make that mistake again

Godspeed!
Please do the same for creta, seltos and other CSuv's
Shouldn’t you take the current price of new similar model or add inflation rate to price and then consider depreciation for correct price than taking the older price?
this was v fun
How do you account for inflation when doing the depreciation? 19L in 2015 is much higher than 19L in 2024
Should have also covered Ford EcoSport
Is it worth buying a Virtus Topline, 2023 model, 8k driven located in Mumbai. Ask price is aorund 12L. Your thoughts..?
Hi Paranay
Im planning to take a 2nd hand car, looking for MG Hector. I have come across a Car-2022/ 39000 done/MG Hector Plus Sharp Model/ CVT/ WHAT Should be the right price. Pls suggest.

Need More too good
Thank you! We will make more of these :)
when discussing about polo gt you guys are talking about Depreciation sir please tell us how to calculate it ? im a complete noob, how can better bargain by using taht logic...
I am from Pune, and although we do get Mumbai passing car in Pune with very lucrative pricing but I simply reject them due to rust issues and its not worth the hassle as I have lost trust on any of the PDI service providers
Is there a way to find out rust issues during inspection?
@@pranayk37 ideally PDI service that you hire should be easily able to tell the underbody rust . But with my experience second hand dealers and PDI service providers are in cahoots withs each other . This I realised after I took my mechanic after the PDI service guy went and found the discrepancy.
One can also locate the under body rust easily by visual inspection if one personally doesnt shy away from

Not sure how the inference was drawn that resale cars are better priced in Maharashtra
1) Due to diesel car age restrictions in NCR , gas guzzling ones are surely to be junked for pennies there
2) Road tax in MH is much higher than NCR.
We'll try and cover this in a video. Prima facie you could get an A4 in that budget
I watch day and night about octavia and octavia vrs…
Any good cng option under 10
