When my house wasn’t decluttered, hosting for the holidays was so stressful, I was literally hiding stuff in boxes. Now I only have to do a bit of straightening a day or two beforehand. I am relaxed & cheerful the second I open the door for visitors 😊 🌲 🤶
This Christmas prep got me to reach out to my aunt who will be close to us this Christmas. I had suggested to her that instead of buying gifts for each other we pick an afternoon to get together and bake a few simple christmas cookie recipes. She thought it was a great idea!
Great to see your subscribers creep up. You videos are so positive and inspirational. I’m not great at cleaning regularly but I’m chipping away at my decluttering.
I actually let go of some items I’ve been keeping because they were gifts I finally am understanding “this item is not the person who gave it to me”🎉🎉❤
1. Zone decluttering first aid supplies 2. Lingonberries, rice, organic canned vegetables for winter pantry are on today's grocery list 3. Self Care listening to some Vince Guaraldi seasonal jazz while putting away groceries, then a cup of tea reward.
Dear Diane, I’m keeping up with your schedule. RAH RAH RAH! My cleaning helper comes tomorrow and the bathrooms & guest room will be cleaned. I finished ordering my Thanksgiving groceries today and a caterer will be doing my boneless turkey breast. I also ordered Christmas gifts for my husband & my grandchildren today. For self-care I have started coloring in my new Christmas coloring book for adults. Thx for the encouragement.❤️❤️🎄🎄
Right on task. Decluttering the spare room for Thanksgiving week visitors. Actually, more of a tidy up since it doubles as my reading nook room and the grandkids toy closet is there. I’ll be deciding on my Christmas mysteries this afternoon. 👏🏻🎄👏🏻🦃
I used to like to watch Love Actually during the Christmas season. Haven’t for a few years. Will watch it again to see if it’s a declutter item this year….
I am going to focus on my bathroom. Today I did a deep clean of both showers and toliets in both bathrooms. Tomorrow I will do sinks, counters, and floors and add a small holiday hand towel!
The Fly Lady system means never scrambling to clean for guests. My holiday baking is halfway done, seven recipes of shortbread last Saturday and Christmas cakes this week. No purchased gifts other than ingredients (no young children to buy for). My favorite holiday book is Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory, but I love Dickens' classic as well.
Happy Monday from very dark and grey Copenhagen! What's your favourite Christmas book or movie to get into the holiday spirit? 🎄📚🍿 Let’s share some festive inspiration with each other, woo hoo!
So many Christmas movies to choose from but here's a a few of my faves! 🎥 🎄 🍿 1. A Muppets Christmas Carol 2. Elf 3. Love Actually 4. The Holiday 5. Four Christmases
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! Love it! Having emigrated from the UK to NZ 11 years ago, I still find it difficult to feel Christmassy when our days are getting longer and summer is on its way!
I'm getting there Diane, thank you for all your inspiration, it makes life so much easier and less stressful. By doing the Flylady system Christmas doesn't seem as daunting because of keeping on top of things. I'm mostly being entertained by others this year , but hope to host a couple of afternoon gatherings for just a few people. 🎉🎉🎉
Love actually is one of my favourites and Astrid Lindgren while decorating. My children and I also love baking with German children's Christmas songs and musicals. Diane, thank you so much for your beautiful ideas and always reminding us to take care for ourselves! You just gained an entry in my gratitude journal just for being you ❤
I’ve been adding a few Christmas non perishables to my weekly grocery shop since October 1st and bought theatre tickets for my daughter’s present. My boys and grandchildren all prefer cash so only friends left to buy for. I always get my books from the library as my daughter is a librarian and we must use our libraries or lose them. I’m reading The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose atm and it has such a pretty cover. So glad your brother and sister in law are spending Christmas with you, the first after losing someone special is always hard x
I am thankfully not hosting holidays this year as I'm still unpacking from my move. We did have a family call yesterday to plan our one celebration which went well and we're all looking forward to getting together 🎉. Thanks for keeping us motivated and moving forward.
Plan this week is to begin to gather 12 different pizza recipes for my husband. He has recently bought and become obsessed with a pizza oven but our repitoire is small. Means I will also win in the end with tasty (hopefully) pizza made for me. My favourite Christmas movie is 'While you were sleeping', not sure it had aged too well but it has my heart. Usually watch it whilst putting up the tree and testing a mulled apple juice recipe.
Ooh, I feel so good after the Monday upkeep clean! I got into the corners of the shower today, too. Phew! Last night I made a pretty good list of holiday activities to schedule. I wish I could get hubby to hang lights this week, but he doesn’t want to do that anymore 😢. I know they’re cheesy, but I like watching a few of the Hallmark Holiday movies to get in the holiday mood. I live out in the country and don’t have much of a social network, especially after dark, so I entertain myself with movies. Jeez, I sound so old! Good thing the grandkids live in the attached apartment; we do arts and crafts and bake together.❤Off to the gym and errands! Rah rah rah 🎉
My mindset used to be to wait til the Christmas month, December to start prep. but with a houseful of guests that was too stressful. Each year I am getting better at planning and buying ahead. One benefit I have noticed is that the stores are not so crazy busy earlier and I dont feel panicky. I make a point of one day just enjoying browsing Christmas displays in little local stores, then going back to purchase another day.
Birthday, Thanksgiving so I can’t think about Christmas just yet, although I will have 21 for the 25th! By mid December I’ll need to enter my zen zone! ❤
I’m working on the guest bedroom and cleared off the bed. Removed items from the room and organised the bedding. I also went through my gift box of things I have collected over the year, and found lots of gifts that I can use, some might need a small box of chocolates or something like a lip balm added, but overall I’m really pleased. I was able to use clear guest bed to spread everything out and put post its with names on. Then I just need to wrap them and add a gift tag. The guest bed will be clear again in just a few days. My shopping list for this is done and in my handbag. Thank you for keeping me on track! 🌸
What a great video! One of my favorite movies is the Christmas Story, and I love reading The Worst Christmas Pagent Ever. Both make me laugh. I'll definitely start decluttering the bathrooms. Thank you, Diane 😊
For my cleaning task-I will finish working on my deck. I am almost finished scrubbing and staining the deck. Hope to be done by the end of this week. For my planning task- I will work on my recipes and list for the store. For self care- I will continue to enjoy couple seasonal u-tube videos. Thank you , Diane
@@dsmith9796 Taking longer than I expected, but I am getting there. I have the railings and rungs done (Whew) Today I plan to scrub the floor and hopefully, stain tomorrow. Maybe it took me longer than some because I am 83. God is good.
I'm working in the spare room! Found lots of papers that had to be shredded! Then, off the recycle, they will go! Woohoo!! 💪 I'm working on bathrooms tomorrow. Go us!! 🥳
I love your self-care tasks for this week! I'm a huge Midsomer Murders fan, so I'm going to put that book on my Christmas list, as well. Also, I've been watching the Marlow Murder Club! It's so good! Thanks for the recommendation 😊
One of my favorite Christmas movies is A Christmas Story. My husband and I watch it every year. Last year I discovered the movie Last Christmas and it was pretty cute. I plan to borrow it from the library and watch it again this year.
Aah, I'm chuffed that you like Inspector Barnaby 🎉🎉🎉😂 it's my favourite evening series, I watch it while I cook in the evening. It's on our crime channel 😂
I need to do the bathroom tomorrow plus the loft conversion room. Have already done my self-care today. Watching a christmas movie whilst waiting for my son to pass his driving theory test 😊. Great video as always Diane ❤
Wrapped most of my gifts to some of your old videos at the weekend. I have used up gift bags save buying more and just got dome new tissue paper and ribbon to finish them off. Thanks for the motivation

By the way, I bought the Madame Blanche mysteries on DVD and really quite enjoyed watching the series. Can't wait for the next season. Unfortunately, you can't watch them on any Austrian/German channels yet.
I need to stock up on holiday themed postage stamps and also ask what I can bring to Thanksgiving so I can plan and shop. Diane, have you and hubby ever experienced our Thanksgiving meal with Erika from America? 😉
My favourite Christmas Movie is White Christmas followed closely by the Muppets Christmas Carol. Thank you for all the great Christmas hygge ideas. I'm going to make my candle jar this week. Question though. Do you light one candle ie #1 then the next day candle #2. This appears to be seemsto be the idea❤l
Dear Diane, I have a special question: you have this long candles in a glass with countdown in Danmark. Is it possible to remove the wax out of the glass when it has burned down and add a new candle in it or do you have to buy a complete new glass? I bought a long candle this year in Germany without glass and are not quit Sure. Thank you!

I didn't know you could freeze cooked sweet potatoes!!! My goodness, why haven't I thought of that before???
@ Just don’t put the marshmallows or pecan streusel on top if you freeze them. Those don’t stand up to thawing and reheating.
