If the manufactures shipped unrestricted bikes Chris would be out of the tuning business.

Unless you modify the bike because it would run horrible without a tune

Nate from 2WDW did one of these bikes and he was impressed at how restricted it was, and how the post-flash gains were unlike anything else he has seen before. It's literally a different bike afterwards.

Hey Chris! Got a ‘23 CB1000R Black and so stoked you got these dialed in!!! One question - are you able to turn off wheelie control without disabling TC? The wheelie control on this bike is THE WORST I’VE EVER SEEN. It literally lets you clutch the front wheel up, then completely cuts the power bringing the front wheel back like a ton of bricks. As is, we have to go into the settings every time we turn the bike on and disable TC completely to get rid of the wheelie control. It’s a pain in the ass. Don’t know what Honda was thinking not letting a 1000cc naked bike not wheelie 🤦🏼‍♂️

I own this bike. You can set your user mode to your preferred settings without t/c. Unfortunately, without turning traction control off completely, there's no way around it. Once the front wheel does 1 full revolution in the air, the bike recognizes this wheel is not spinning equivalent speed to the rear and shuts down production of power to remedy and regain control of the bike. So honda does let you wheelie but it is something you have to select on your own.

@@Smoke-ri1fx I’ve tried setting “user” mode to always have TC disabled, but it won’t let you. You have manually go in every time you turn the key off and it’s a pain in the ass. Honestly I love this bike but the TC and wheelie control are pretty useless for aggressive riding in good weather. I’m just going to physically delete all the ABS and traction control. Probably drop another 10lbs with all the extra lines, ABS pumps and electronics.

@@Smoke-ri1fx I was working at a Honda dealership when the SP2 came out. Must have spent hours staring at that HRC Nicky Hayden edition haha. The tech on modern sport bikes, like the R1’s 6 axis IMU, is simply brilliant. But what the CB got is trash. Yes it’s nice to be able to adjust power modes and engine braking, and the clutch-less up and down shifter with blipper is insanely good, but the TC is bottom of the barrel without better sensors. I prefer it not be there at all. With a 190 Supercorsa out back and 140 wheel horsepower, it’s got plenty of leeway before it’s breaking the rear end loose

I would have to bet the Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit from 2007-2016 is the most restrictive motorcycle. Just taking out the secondary throttle blades, modifying the air box lid, full exhaust, timing retard eliminator and adding a fueler / tune increases power ~ 30% from ~ 100 hp to 130 hp.

Good day from South Africa, Chris I am following your channel and watch all your content. I have never seen you tune a KTM Superduke 1290 or a Triumph Speed Triple. Is there perhaps a reason for this Chris? I ride a 2019 Speed Triple 1050 RS and my wife has a 2018 KTM Superduke 1290 R. I think you would be able to create magic with these bikes if you would tune them.

big restrictions are good if they can be reversed fairly easy... you don't want em to come with big HP if they can be opened up easily for a few reasons
    1. insurance, goes by CC which rates HP
    2. overall cost from manufacturer
    3. you can have a low HP model for a new rider that easily can be opened up later on as rider progresses
    4. parts generally aren't as expensive
    5. mpg so forth if you want it
there are other reasons i'm sure but there's a few and for me insurance is a big one it can be significant specially if its not categorized as a full on "sportbike" Honder has always been the forerunner of the gentleman's agreement and takes it more seriously than the others, hale the 929's were restricted pretty good, the 954, as I remember ... sounds like a runner and I'd bet its a hoot to role out on . .

Hey, does doing this ECU flash make a bike run lean? I see a guy selling a cb1000r that has been ECU flashed but I'm curious about the fuel/air ratio and if it's running hot.... Feels like there's no way to verify this and that I might be taking a gamble on a bike that might have a shortened life span. Any insight into this?

    This is not even true.
The reason they don't ship it from the factory they way your suggesting is simple. So it can be imported. There are many if not most countries that won't allowed the bike if it was tuned to what you can get from a fireblade engine.
I use my CB1000R black for touring. And the power from the factory is adequate and no problem to keep up with traffic going 150kmh. Even the exhaust I've kept the same. I could change it, but I don't want to pay the NT39,000 fine
