    It's awesome your humble gesture of informing our vistors prior to coming here ☝🏾 Excellent advice on Safety & Security, I wish to add the Following: Our Islands (More than one) and People are extremely safe, but yes like you mentioned there are areas in the City of San Juan Metro Area you need to be aware of based on crime statistics. It's a much larger Island than Hawaii, larger population, San Juan has eight districts, Condado, Miramar, Old San Juan are just three of them ☝🏾"No Road Rage Here" please, if cut off or a victim of issues while driving on roads, "Don't Argue" I'm a retired LEO with both Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and Federal Retirement Credentials, plus service with the PR National Guard ☝🏾 It's good to know this to enjoy the best of Puerto Rico 🙏🏾🇺🇸🇵🇷

    I would also add, buying food and groceries is outside San Juan or metropolitan area is a lot cheaper. San Juan is like eating in Waikiki as compared to places like food trucks in North Shore or Kahuku. For groceries like fruits and vegetables go to Plaza del Mercado (farmers markets) almost every town has one. For cheap restaurants and good food near San Juan, check out Pinones or kiosks they call chinchorros. Greetings from Hawaii, and enjoy the island.

    You two are an exceptionally attractive couple. You must be quite a hit on the island. Have you noticed that you get a lot more attention there from the locals and if so are you comfortable with that attention or has it been uncomfortable? My experience there is that the people are very respectful but I'm curious to know what your experience has been. How welcoming have the locals been and have you made very many friends?

    I want to visit the Island. I was born there but don't know how to do it alone since I left at 12. My memories are so good of my time there and don't want to ruin my memories but I have to visit it before I get to where I'm too old to walk LOL. My mom lives there in Santa Isabel but she doesn't leave her house to go around and do stuff with me. ANy suggestions on how I can do stuff by myself?

    • @jamesxpri
      @jamesxpri  2 роки тому

      hey Willi! That's nice that you still have family here. If youre visiting by yourself, a car is a must! theres no public transportation here, unless youre willing to pay for a private taxi which can be very expensive.

    Seriously, BICYCLE RENTALS?!?!?!?!?! Why not just pay $15 for a bus/train pass and it's unlimited for a week and you can get around ALL San Juan for cheap. Also anyone can use the publicar service for $2 instead of using the taxis or uber. And for the record, it can be "super cheap", depends on what you buy, hit the Supermax, Always 99, local street vendors and Walmart and you can be as cheap as you want.

    How is your experience living there vs living in the Us are there any diferent , like do you still feel as living in America 🇺🇸?

    • @jamesxpri
      @jamesxpri  3 роки тому +1

      Great question!! Yeah it’s different in alota ways, but super similar in some ways too. Coming from Hawaii the weather is pretty close, the beach culture, and the idea that family and friends are most important are similar :) . Some days it feels the same as America like shopping and stuff but some times driving through the neighborhood and hearing the jams and the life all around you assures you your are really in Puerto Rico. We really love learning about the culture here there is always a sunny day even when there’s clouds the people light the way!

    You can get the Antigen test. Airports, in the 4 years ive been here, i never get there more than 1.5 hours early. Security has never taken more than 30 minutes. always very smooth.
    Better to be safe than sorry though! Great tip on the gas! 4 liters per gallon. A little higher than east coast but still, EOD you dont have another option.
    Great advice on the GPS Pin, people here suck at addresses lol. You cannot park on the street in VSJ, "by law", and it takes a year of residency in VSJ to qualify. i hate it haha. BUT you can get away with parking or the day/night
