My husband trained with Omori Roshi, as well as Tanouye Roshi, during his stay at Chozen-ji in Hawaii during the 1970's. It is so wonderful to see this on youtube! Thank you for posting it.
@@ccy6440 Not sure if he took over the Tesshukai or not. Kataoka San was a young, monk attendant for Omori Roshi, circa 1976. I was a monk at Hosshin-ji at the time and only spent a brief time at Koho-In. My most lasting impression was the zazenkai's on Sunday when virtually every kendo shihan in Tokyo would show up to train with Omori Roshi. Talk about bushido. You could have cut that atmosphere with a sword! Do you still train? I am a hachi dan in karate, although I miss training the hojo kata. Sincerely, James

I visited Chozen-ji in the late 70's. Is it still going?
Thanks for posting this vid. I usually fast forward the original BBC special to this part, so I appreciate being able to get straight to Omori Roshi.
Saw the summer part of the Hojo kata last night. Beautiful
Great video. Thanks for posting.
I may be one of about 10 people still living who can identify the person doing the hojo with Omori. It is A. Sekigawa.
I knew them both. Do you remember Kataoka?
@@thelion6614 Kataoka? Do you mean the guy who took over Tesshukai?
Terayama?

I sit daily. That is all that is possible now. Did you ever visit Chozen-ji and meet Tanouye?
Very nice, thank you for posting
Sure :)

The host clearly misunderstands the word "Buddha".
the reporter hasn't spent time in zazen enough to get what he's been told..." it's all well and good etc"... karma.
