    1. Consistency is more important than time spent. 2. Focus on motor patterns. 3. Practice at a speed you can control. 4. Slow practice must imitate fast performance. 5. Focus on your bow

Thank you for having the list of the five for us to read as you speak about them. It's very helpful for new learners.

2:05 Oh... ups. You really got me there. I just bought my violin and to say that i only have 5 days with it and i already have like 10 h of practice, I went crazy and so excited. I think am going to tone down my practice hours😅. Thanks for the tips, always helpful!
    Edit: 25/09/29
Okay so, I Just came from my violin lessons, and there was some things i need to modify so it's true, if you're a begginer don't study like 2 or 3 hr just with one hour is OK, and if we take it slowly maybe we're going to do more progress... Sooo yeah, This video was very true for me 😂 Listen to the tips!

2:20 when I first bought a violin I practiced with the violin tuned down a full octave for weeks…wondered why the tuner was struggling to pick it up!

Thanks, this was helpful. I am a violin student learning Indian classical (Carnatic music). Recently, I started learning western classical and it involved lot of changes in the playing techniques as compared to Carnatic style of playing which is more free flowing. Though, I have come to terms with most of the changes especially the bowing techniques, I am finding it very difficult to find the right position for left thumb. I am quite used to maintaining a slightly higher thumb position which generally doesn't touch the violin and goes downwards as I move up the finger board. I am not able to adjust to a position where the thumb keeps sticking to the lower left side of the fingerboard.

I just played Mendelssohn 2nd concerto live at a semifinals competition at Colburn unaccompanied a week ago. Son file in front of a camera and like 6 judges was very very difficult.

Jascha Heifetz estimated he spent 60000 hours practicing only the violin by age 40. Apart from other studies.

I always wondered why with us aspiring violinists have to practice and put so much effort into it than like someone who plays the guitar. do guitar players or even trumpet players have to put so much time and effort in their practicing. like i never hear a guitar player say i have to go practice my scales and arpeggios now. this is probably a stupid comment, i was just wondering
