Musical styles were invented by people supposedly not born again.
Another preacher may arise and dismiss music altogether.
The bible says, "Praise Him with all kinds of Instruments."
It did not give any musical style. Styles do come with different cultures e.g. Rhumba from Congolese people, Ohangla from Luo community, Taarab from Mijikenda, etc. These styles evolve with time as humanity discover many modern day styles derived majorly from old styles e.g. High tempo Ohangla produced low tempo commonly known as (taarab ya Kisumu)
Rhumba evolved to Modern day High tempo Lingala and the list goes on....

I think we shouldn't demonize a musical style rather, we should demonize the lyrics and motive irrespective of the style or culture associated with it.
Rastafara is a lifestyle/religion commonly associated with Jamaican culture and Reggae music. Just like Rap and Hiphop is associated with the USA and majorly the black community.
Lingala has been widely used by African Pentecostal/Evangelical churches in Praise songs commonly known as(Paraising the African Way)
Catholics, Anglocatholics and some Pentecostals have in centuries stuck with Hymns. Some accompanied with Instruments while some in a cappella..

Personally I never view any Musical style as evil but what I do consider evil is the Lyrics and the motive. So the singer is to blame not the style or origin coz, most if not all of these musical styles were not invented by the CHURCH. They came from the WORLD.

Rastafarism is a religion while reggae is a music genre.
In as much as they share some themes, culture and originate from the same region, it is wrong to assume that reggae is rastafarism as suggested by the speaker.

The good thing about huyu pastor ni research. As much as he tries to break it down really well, I still love reggae. To me reggae is conscious music. There is also Gospel Reggae(ChrisTafari) which still spreads the Gospel. Pastor Tee keep up your good work of enlightening the Youth. Not everyone that listens to reggae, is misinformed or is a Rastafarian, or Boombaklaat. Reggae is conscious, Roots Muzik.

Haile Selassie's name before he became an emperor was Ras Tafari Mekonnen. Ras means Prince the Rastafarian originators merged the title Ras with the first name Tafari into a compound name Rastafari (almost like the way the word Nickel was merged with another word Odeon to come up with the compound name Nickelodeon). Thus Haile Selassie is a kingly name that was acquired following ascension to the throne i.e. on coronation day. In Amharic the word "Haile" translates to the word Power in English whereas "Selassie" translates to the word Trinity in English.

on another dimension , I believe reggae music advocates for PEACE 🤞 LOVE❤ and UNITY✊ this is the answer that reggae music speaks I and I means God within you , it speaks about ONENESS, and most important of all, Is living a natural life, Again WEED is a herb and a natural one , it makes you to meditate to your God mode ( higher self), the state at which the SUB CONSCIOUS mind leads you , and reggae music embraces enlightenment of oneself with the alignment of BODY, SOUL and MIND, with this alignment, you will be aware of your life and your purpose

A Jamaican ("Morgan Heritage") Decides to take them around and show them what they don't see and how the government have let it's people suffer. I disagree with you. You just selected a section of songs! There are lots of reggae songs with various messages! Take time listen to lucky dube! Look at Bob Marley. It depends on the type of message the artist wants to put across. Some target love and unity.. Some talk about the system and politics.. Some pray God and some talk about Marijuana. So it will be so unfair to pick given sections to term reggae bad! We have reggae songs that talks about crime and its repercussions.

Pastor Tee you should understand the message in Reggae music. You've given an example of the song, " look at the angry times, do see anything to smile about?". The message is when you face problems or you are in a difficult situation, try to find out something good or positive to make you smile or smile about. The song is full of encouragement unfortunately you cannot understand.

Pastor Tee Mwangi’s video on reggae and Rastafarianism includes several points that can be clarified to provide a more accurate view of these subjects. To begin with, reggae music and Rastafarian culture are often misunderstood due to inadequate research or contextual awareness of Jamaica's colonial history and African spiritual traditions. For instance, the story of the Queen of Sheba and her connection to Ethiopia has long been accessible in public narratives, especially through the Kebra Nagast, an ancient Ethiopian text. This connection plays a key role in Rastafarian ideology and is not hidden or obscure information.

Cannabis, for Rastafarians, is viewed as a sacrament used in spiritual practices, not merely an illegal substance. While illegal in certain countries, it is respected in Rastafarian culture as a means for meditation and connection with the divine. This practice is similar to indigenous African traditions, pre-dating colonial introductions of Christianity. As such, Christianity is often seen as a foreign import.

    An opposing view point.
A friend just sent me this video after I posted on FB about Bob Marley's new movie, ONE LOVE.
MOG I love that you speak to relevant issues and in a way that is relatable. Keep up the excellent work and ministry!
I am very familiar with Rastafarianism as a religion. You are accurate in your analysis. I do not agree with Rastafarianism and the belief of HIM as reincarnated Christ, or the indiscriminate use of weed, and other tenets that go against biblical principles. To your point though, not all points of Rastafarianism are wrong either.
Where I primarily beg to differ is the conflation of Reggae and Rastafarianism. One is a genre of music, the other a movement that has used the genre of music as a vehicle.
As a genre of music it was a fusion of Ska and Rocksteady. That said, Bob Marley who arguably was a pioneer of reggae and put Reggae on the map, was a devout Rastafarian as were many of his other original reggae counterparts. Their music was both spiritual, social and philosophical. And natuarally, they did use Reggae as a vehicle to spread their beliefs.
So, does that make all Reggae bad? Does that make all Bob's music bad? For me the answer is no.
Not all of Bob's music or reggae music has Rastafarian ideology. Some of it (the conscious reggae mentioned) has very positive messages that speak to a lot of social justice and philosophical issues that plagued and continue to plague society. A lot of it has messages of peace and unity and just very sound philosophy and yes, even biblical truth. Today, we even use reggae music (as a genre) in Christian music (i.e. gospel reggae). By the way, most of the worship music we use today (contemporary, gospel and even Arican praise styles has it's roots in what would be considered secular music - rock, blues, and lingala respectively). An argument could be made against the origins of each of those genres. Hymns back in their day when they were first emerging were considered "worldly".
My point - an argument can be made for or against anything. I think a lot of times we throw out the baby with the bath water. All creativity comes from God. It comes down to what we choose to take out of something and how we use it. I also believe that as Christians sometimes we fail to be objective and thus relevant and relatable to those we are called to reach.
I am a Born Again Christian and I love Bob Marley's music - arguably the most influential artist period. Do I agree with all of his songs/ ideology - no. But there are also many that I agree with and appreciate so it would be a double standard to just focus on the negative.

Clarifying these cultural and historical aspects indeed provides a fuller, more accurate view of Rastafarianism, reggae, and the African heritage they celebrate. It would be better for Pastor Tee to do a deeper research and avoid spreading misrepresentations, especially given that many people are well-informed about Rastafarian culture in a conscious and nuanced way. Christianity, while significant to many, was introduced to Africa through colonial influences and must be acknowledged as an imported belief system. It’s essential for Pastor Tee to consider a balanced perspective, as overzealous critique may inadvertently project a 'holier-than-thou' attitude. Recognizing the value in all spiritual paths-whether Rastafarian, Christian, or indigenous-can foster respect and understanding in discussions about culture and spirituality.

Truth 😄😄,it won't cost you anything to do your research, information about anything is available all over the internet and in books too, just read and try forming meaningful conclusion for yourself kwanza before renting out your brain for someone else's ideas.wacha kuishi kama nyanyako mwenye alikua anakanyaga chini akiwa msichana.Train and use your brain, you'll be surprised how powerful and rewarding it is.

If Reggea is a religion then stop criticizing it kindly because hakuna hata siku moja utaskia any Rastafarian or a Reggea artist talking about another religion so please watch your mouth and for your information no matter what you say either negative or positive,NOBODY CAN STOP REGGAE 🇯🇲💚💛❤️

What's wrong with your conscience, even Elijah knew Baalism was a religion but was it Right??? Christ empowers His pple to open people's eyes, not to just keep quiet. Please read your Bible.
