Of all genres of Music, why would anyone criticise Reggae Music? I didn't know this Pastor now I do. Good Marketing 👏👏. One of the song that you just criticized, "Nothing to smile about." It starts with this message, "People (non-Jamaica) come to Jamaica, and what they see are nice things, great vibe, happy people, etc. and they can't understand why Jamaica people have a screwface (A contorted facial expression of anger, frustration, or aggression). A Jamaican ("Morgan Heritage") Decides to take them around and show them what they don't see and how the government have let it's people suffer. After the tour he ask the non Jamaican do you see anything to smile about?" It's just like current, The world thinks we have the best president but ask any Kenyan. Why only highlight (from the song) what suits your message? Any wewe jinice, No body can't stop Reggae. Acha ata niweke Reggae nisikize kiasi

Reggae is a good music and not satanic or demonic, and you can choose to listen or not no one is forced, you are also free to believe whatever you want to no one will question you. The only true, fair and final judge is Almighty God, and only through Christ Jesus we will be saved and connect with God The Father of all creations, and He will judge all people irregardless of who you are or whatever you have been, and because all are sinners none of them has authority to judge another...

I disagree with you. You just selected a section of songs! There are lots of reggae songs with various messages! Take time listen to lucky dube! Look at Bob Marley. It depends on the type of message the artist wants to put across. Some target love and unity.. Some talk about the system and politics.. Some pray God and some talk about Marijuana. So it will be so unfair to pick given sections to term reggae bad! We have reggae songs that talks about crime and its repercussions.
It is never about what people say...it is about what they carry.A gospel with a language you don't understand gets into your soul.Music is about influence. We suck peoples behaviour through their music or what they say.Spirits move in vibrations of sound and light....Music is deeper than we think....Music's origin is not entertainment but worship.Any music constitutes worship.....

The song is full of encouragement unfortunately you cannot understand.

Gospel worshiper is for ministry/for a devine purpose/for God, led by the mighty Holy spirit. #Meaning you can sing as a talent Or as a calling/gift. Not any song that mention Jesus or God Is a gospel song!
Pastor Tee Mwangi’s video on reggae and Rastafarianism includes several points that can be clarified to provide a more accurate view of these subjects. To begin with, reggae music and Rastafarian culture are often misunderstood due to inadequate research or contextual awareness of Jamaica's colonial history and African spiritual traditions. For instance, the story of the Queen of Sheba and her connection to Ethiopia has long been accessible in public narratives, especially through the Kebra Nagast, an ancient Ethiopian text. This connection plays a key role in Rastafarian ideology and is not hidden or obscure information.
Cannabis, for Rastafarians, is viewed as a sacrament used in spiritual practices, not merely an illegal substance. While illegal in certain countries, it is respected in Rastafarian culture as a means for meditation and connection with the divine. This practice is similar to indigenous African traditions, pre-dating colonial introductions of Christianity. As such, Christianity is often seen as a foreign import.
You can't preach what you don't have. Rasta don't believe in Yeshua the Christ who is the epitome of Love. So you can't say Reagge is gosple when they don't believe in the truth of God's word calling YESHUA a white man propaganda. Gosple simple men's the Good news about YESHUA. Not singing one love songs. I hope you understand this Bwana. I was a former rasta who got bornagain. I used to speak about a Jah whom I didn't know and didn't have relationship with. Thank God for YESHUA most High king, saviour of the universe who transformed my life from Rastafarianism. Know I can truly say peace and one love to y'all 🇺🇬🇺🇬

Reggae isn’t just music; it’s a powerful message of love, resilience, and unity. It teaches the Word of God, echoing themes of hope and redemption. It transcends stereotypes and it's not just about smoking weed or negative judgments.
An opposing view point. A friend just sent me this video after I posted on FB about Bob Marley's new movie, ONE LOVE. MOG I love that you speak to relevant issues and in a way that is relatable. Keep up the excellent work and ministry! I am very familiar with Rastafarianism as a religion. You are accurate in your analysis. I do not agree with Rastafarianism and the belief of HIM as reincarnated Christ, or the indiscriminate use of weed, and other tenets that go against biblical principles. To your point though, not all points of Rastafarianism are wrong either. Where I primarily beg to differ is the conflation of Reggae and Rastafarianism. One is a genre of music, the other a movement that has used the genre of music as a vehicle. As a genre of music it was a fusion of Ska and Rocksteady. That said, Bob Marley who arguably was a pioneer of reggae and put Reggae on the map, was a devout Rastafarian as were many of his other original reggae counterparts. Their music was both spiritual, social and philosophical. And natuarally, they did use Reggae as a vehicle to spread their beliefs. So, does that make all Reggae bad? Does that make all Bob's music bad? For me the answer is no. Not all of Bob's music or reggae music has Rastafarian ideology. Some of it (the conscious reggae mentioned) has very positive messages that speak to a lot of social justice and philosophical issues that plagued and continue to plague society. A lot of it has messages of peace and unity and just very sound philosophy and yes, even biblical truth. Today, we even use reggae music (as a genre) in Christian music (i.e. gospel reggae). By the way, most of the worship music we use today (contemporary, gospel and even Arican praise styles has it's roots in what would be considered secular music - rock, blues, and lingala respectively). An argument could be made against the origins of each of those genres. Hymns back in their day when they were first emerging were considered "worldly". My point - an argument can be made for or against anything. I think a lot of times we throw out the baby with the bath water. All creativity comes from God. It comes down to what we choose to take out of something and how we use it. I also believe that as Christians sometimes we fail to be objective and thus relevant and relatable to those we are called to reach. I am a Born Again Christian and I love Bob Marley's music - arguably the most influential artist period. Do I agree with all of his songs/ ideology - no. But there are also many that I agree with and appreciate so it would be a double standard to just focus on the negative.
I agree with you on this. I'm a huge Bob Marley fan too. There's some message he puts across his songs that I don't agree with but there's some I resonate with so well. Uplifting philosophical music.
You need to evaluate your Christianity. You need to deny worldliness. Reggae is worldly music. You need to cultivate Christian music that ministers life to your soul.
Clarifying these cultural and historical aspects indeed provides a fuller, more accurate view of Rastafarianism, reggae, and the African heritage they celebrate. It would be better for Pastor Tee to do a deeper research and avoid spreading misrepresentations, especially given that many people are well-informed about Rastafarian culture in a conscious and nuanced way. Christianity, while significant to many, was introduced to Africa through colonial influences and must be acknowledged as an imported belief system. It’s essential for Pastor Tee to consider a balanced perspective, as overzealous critique may inadvertently project a 'holier-than-thou' attitude. Recognizing the value in all spiritual paths-whether Rastafarian, Christian, or indigenous-can foster respect and understanding in discussions about culture and spirituality.

One of the song that you just criticized, "Nothing to smile about."
It starts with this message, "People (non-Jamaica) come to Jamaica, and what they see are nice things, great vibe, happy people, etc. and they can't understand why Jamaica people have a screwface (A contorted facial expression of anger, frustration, or aggression). A Jamaican ("Morgan Heritage") Decides to take them around and show them what they don't see and how the government have let it's people suffer.
It is more about the spirit behind the song than message in the song. Life is spiritual!Which God do they pray?

Thank you 🙏
I agree with you on this. I'm a huge Bob Marley fan too. There's some message he puts across his songs that I don't agree with but there's some I resonate with so well. Uplifting philosophical music.
Blessed Rasta. Kindly take another listen to his chapter 'Wake up & live'. Share the link with Mr. Tee
