You KNOW every lance animation pops off 50 times harder than it needs to. Every lance animation in this game is just so much more bombastic and absurd than it has any right to be, it’s incredible.
This vid and the finishing blow animation video are honestly amazing. My favourite part of these games have always been the battle animations, and the critical hits and finishing blows are the best, most satisfying examples they have. Genuinely really happy to see someone finally compile them after all this time.
yesss so glad to see these uploaded and all in one place. whenever i play fates (usually conquest), i'm always amazed at the sheer diversity in combat animations, which really serves to make the classes (and by extension, the two opposing armies) feel distinct from each other. and when i realized that most classes have a separate moveset for hoshido weapons vs. nohr ones--mind blown!
The stakes were much higher in 3DS Fire Emblems in comparison to Three Houses in terms of difficulty, so when you got a critical it really felt like a life saver. Couple that with that slight pause after the attack screen starts where you don't know if its going to be a normal attack or critical, it builds/relieves that tension perfectly. I don't really remember feeling that relieved getting a critical in Three Houses like I did in Awakening/Fates. (I dont have much experience with pre 3ds era so I can't attest to that.)
I find it funny how there's a 2 range crit animation for swords, lances and axes. Even though I don't think any of the 1-2 range swords, lances, axes can crit to begin with. Which is a shame because the Oni 2 range axe crit is so damn cool.
Worth noting that while I do just flat-out cheat when recording here, those animations can be seen legitimately in pretty much all cases. The Spear, Wakizashi, Tomahawk, Battering Club, Peri's Lance, Parasol, and Umbrella are all swords, lances, or axes that can perform crits with ranged attacks. The enemy only 1-2 ranged weapons for every weapon type also are applicable here, which are used sparingly in the main campaign, but the gold grinding DLC uses them quite a bit. The only ranged crit that normally cannot be seen with player accessible weapons is the Spear Fighter line Naginata crit, which can still be seen legitimately if Haitaka cries with a ranged attack in CQ9, and is straight up used for lances too on Master of Arms. I don't think there's any crit animation that is coded to play (there are unused dragon fang critical animations that aren't assigned to play at all that I made a separate video about) that's impossible to see completely legitimately, though some of these animations are fairly rare to see.
@@At0m1cpickle Huh, I actually didn't know any of that. That is pretty cool though so thanks for letting me know. It would be really funny in an oof way if Haitaka just crit a unit you were using to attack at 2 range with lol.
@@Excadrill-lo5sh Yeah, that would suck. It would suck even more if it happened twice in a row, on two separate attempts in a row! But it's not like that would ever happen, haha, ha, haaaaaaaaa.
It's possible! I mostly made videos so far based on what I thought people may find most interesting, but standard skill activation, follow-up (luna uses follow-up animations) and magic are things I may make. These videos take more time to actually record than it may look, and my computer circumstances are a big more inconvenient then they were when I made these, but I do believe I very well may still make more.
Hey there! I'm currently trying to make a video about Fire Emblem Fates and I was wondering if I could use some of this gameplay in the video! You would be credited in the video credits and description. Thank you for your time!
I used the paragon modding tool (which is also what I used to set up one of the combat scenarios for recording these videos more easily). You can assign weapons custom weapon trails in the ROM1 file that has their model data, which I use essentially just because I think they look nice. In hindsight I probably should have removed them when recording these videos to prevent confusion though.
5:24 Takumi 360 no scope

Also that omnyoji crit tome crit animation fucks so hard. Somethin about the spin in the air into hand swipe is so raw.
1:22 Hit'em with the book.
Hit em with KNOWLEDGE

2:23 batta batta batta SWING
the master of arms animations are so sick I love the windup lol
10:21this one is my absolute favorite. Proof that being a dark mage has style.
Oh right 2:41 I forgot the diviner too. Hoshidan style is legit.
I feel the power because of the ground shaking!
9:48 the melee crits closely resembles the GBA versions, I love it
They definitely took a lot from the GBA armor knights for these. Even the regular stabs having the same wind-up, step, and hit.

4:08 I forgot about that. The Pogo Stick Skewer.
And I thought Xiao was pogo stick man.
4:15 is Great Master sending you to horny jail
Thanks for this
That wyvern crit where you just get smacked with its tail and axed after is brutal lmao

Unless it’s Ryoma then you just kinda expect the crit
I like how the merc crit animation looks like the classic gba merc animation
Same for the General and Hero (though sadly they don’t throw their weapon in the air anymore)
All of the merchant animations are amazing.
Thank you. I have been looking for this!
Me too! I am very glad to have found this
With how Fire Emblem Engage handles critical hit animation timings, these would have been awesome to see remastered in a game like that
Feel bad for the same two dudes getting wailed on the whole time
These animations are so good
When Corrin throw the fucking sword at the second animation it sent me high
I lost it lmao
That was SO unexpected 😭
Nostalgic 😭
I played the game for 300 hours over.

The camera shaking on Dark mage though.
The butler animations have so much character, lol.
6:50 The blacksmith goes sonic in the air. Or… Are you ready to mariocise?! Okie Dokie!
Also that throw looks neat-o.
I never knew the Dread Fighter’s animations were that cool wow. I honestly might start another file and make my wife Kagero a Dread Fighter.
I've been looking but I can't find a video of the lines the characters say when they support someone in battle. I like Xander's a lot.
hello, first off, love the video, do you think you could make one on special attacks that are not critical hits, like luna and sol?
It's possible! grandmaster when use lance: imma make a stake stab
grandmaster when use naginata: moment, need to stretch first
@13:30 Goodness that's horrifying
Did anyone knows where I can find a FE Fates rom with all this DLC's??
When you literally throw the book at them
How you get Silver Weapon gets 1-2 Range?
Cheating. The same way I have an endless supply of disposable soldiers to beat up.
@At0m1cpickle ah thank, can you pass the 1-2 cheat for citra?
hey the links in the description for all of these showcase videos is truncated so you can't see the google doc?
Oops, that's my bad, I will fix this.

As long as you provide credit, I don't mind at all!
Male robin can't turn into a dragon?
Wrong game dude xd
Whops i mean corrin, i don't know why i put Robin xd
