You can connect two of them with the Intercom cable, select "Auto-Rebroadcast" on both radios and you have setted up an automatic repeater that can work completely unattended as long as they have some power in the batteries or a power supply pluged in. And the two stations of the repeater can be placed everywhere between 50m (15 with the Selectivity Unity installed) and up to 3000m away from each other! E.g. On the two sides of a mountain.
One of the advantages to owning military transceivers are that they are gapless. Granted, in a normal situation, you can only use the Amateur Radio frequencies. In a total breakdown, you have a wider range to use with the PRC-351. Let’s hope it never comes to this =) 73!
Gil, I'm pretty sure you can use that whip without the SURF. If I'm not mistaken its mainly used to combat interference with and from close by radios. Do you have the manual?
Pozdrawiam serdecznie :-)
That's great. Many thanks it will get me started. Fortunately my local club runs a 6m net once a week so I am hoping to experiment with a PRC-350. As I have only just got my licence I am cautious about plunging into power supplies just yet until I have gained a bit of experience & know what I am doing but am interested in building a charger that monitors the temperature using the diode output & cuts off if the readings start to diverge too much. I love watching your videos. Chris M6NZX
Regarding your disclaimer, when you have to explain yourself in that manner, you're explaining yourself to Nazi's. I'm a prepper and a vet, that doesn't make me a terrorist, regardless what the media says.

I have thought about it, more than once! Something I might do...
UK PRC 351. Frequency range 30 - 75.975 MHz. 1840 channels at 25 KHz spacing. Basic planning range of 8KM, 16KM if fitted with a 20 watt amp.
Nicely done sir!
Thank you!

Very true. I might use my 320 for maritime purposes...

VK6OP Absolutely, but I wanted a bit more oomph... Better efficiency with a near-half-wave longer whip and tuner...
The 20W PA is not used portable, only when fixed or mobile
I use it portable :-) not on my back though...

Gil what do you use to charge your PRC-351 24v NiCd battery? I have seen a couple of different solutions & would appreciate your opinion.

Same as the Tenergy... I will be building a 12V charger soon with cheap Chinese circuits..

Thanks, good luck!
Hi Chri, I use a 28v DCCU and a 'bodged' laptop charger. Works a treat
What does the radiation warning (sticker) mean? (on some devices)
Radium paint on the needles (glowing in the dark)... I think.
SURF unit to measure Radio waves going though the unit.
The SURF is a band-pass filter.
@@RadioPrepper I'm kinda new to this so I'm not too sure about it but I do know the dial has something to do with radio waves.
17 Min video and 30 seconds call
It's not the call that matters. It's the other 16:30.

Right on.
gil have you built a simple tunner that maybe the ticket ???? jg
+jerome grzelak Hi, I have the SURF unit now but also use my T1 auto tuner.
