Nice! Just be aware that superglue fumes can make lens coatings foggy so keep the optical parts away while it dries.
That's a pro tip💪✅
Would be really cool if you did a dive-in on what scene file setting you’re using. A lot of filmers gate keep on the subject and us underdogs could use more tricks and tips
Sitting here looking at my HPX and Century MK2 with a big smile on my face.... the time is now! HDVX
Sick tutorial! I still personally believe the MK2/Opteka is the best combo for 4x3 HD on the HPX/HMC. But that's my opinion dawggg
It is no cap
wow this is sick. Wish I knew how to do this when I switched to HD and still had a VX haha
Offer up. See vx cheap working.
Im using this setup since I’ve watched this video and im just loving it.
Got the ring crafted by a steelworker friend of mine.
You can get super close, and I don’t recrop on the editing, so the rendered is different than the vx but I just like it that way
you are doing a great job
we all love the vx/mk1 but honestly ive been loving how a lot of people are finding new and more unique rigs. although i respect wanting to keep this look alive, i just think the vx1k served its time... the whole tapeless thing, the whole mk1 on an hpx, etc. just move on and be creative with a new look. I know ill get mad hate for this comment but whatever.
agreed
agree, 720p 60fps is getting old now...
Vx is timeless and always will be superior for skate films. You're probably a kid who's never held a vx. Agreed that recreating that look is lame.
@@jamiepippin3892 im 26 and have had my fair share of minidv cameras including the vx1k. no doubt that camera is superior in the skate industry - im surprised its survived this long and its sad to see the mk1 get discontinued, tapes harder to get, etc. but i just think with some imagination - everyone can stand out a bit more with finding new rigs and lenses to mess with. ive been filming/exploring with multiple 4:3 HD rigs lately and they all come out fantastic. hell even if you want a minidv cam, just go for another like a trv, vx2 (can look sick if you tweak it a bit), or any others. theres so much to be discovered!
@@BastienRegeste its all about 30fps
This is great to see, do wish there was a comparison with a hvx extreme aswell just for distortion wise. Or using a distortion map to see what the difference is. Other thing couldn’t you just thread a step ring from the lens case itself (bayonet is on by threads) this would save a ton of time and money no?
what thread is the bayonet?
@@adrift97 its a special thread, I dont know the thread size off hand
@@mikecrook no worries, I believe I found it, for future reference, I believe it to be 77mm so if you want to put it onto an hpx lens, you’ll need a step down ring, then a spacer ring
@@adrift97 so is it 77 or nah?
@@Beltway yeah, I got away with using a filter ring which I mounted to my wide angle lense
so dope, I had both vx1000 an hpx back n day. jus bought a vx2000 on ebay yee
Amazing! can't wait to try it
THANK U! i cant rly afford a mark1 im guessing an opteka death lens could work? maybe with some step down or up rings?
❤️❤️❤️
what is the best lens in skateboarding? the death lens, the century MK1 or other? that panasonic camcorder looks quite big and heavy.
Thats a nice hack but i think it is not the best solution because you have to go as close as possible to the front glass of the hpx.
Sadly i do not own a mk1 but i have a mk2 for the conon gl2.
I mesured the bayo from the lenshood from the hpx and did a construction for a bayoring between the hpx and the mk2.
The mk2 is clamped with a nut and a srew in the new bayoring. Depending on the construnction you can come very close to the front glas of the hpx and get les vig.
After that I 3d printed the new bayoring.
I think the distance between the back of the mk2 and the front glas is now round about 0.3mm
Can you share the print file? I got an MK1 and I was hoping to have some where to start
Nice!
Do you know offhand how much you had to take off of that aluminum ring?
Looks to be about 5mm ?
it's about 2mm
Does anyone have an idea how to use an mk2 for the hvx200 with bayonet for the hpx which needs an screw thread? Is the method in the video possible or is there even a better one?
just have a friend tig weld it on.
I actually love not cropped footage it looks hard
They made the MK1 58mm screw on for some time. I don't know if they sell them anymore. U have to contact Century Optics and put the order in.
VX1000's are practically collectors items now.
Is it too much to ask for a cheap alternative that isn't doo doo?
I'm being specific there because, cheap VX1000 alternatives already exist but, a Nokia phone from the early 2000's has a much better camera.
what's the best lens for HpX that will give me a wider Xtreme look, without getting a xtreme
I don't think you got much choice... Xtreme is made for the 16:9 aspect ratio I don't think you'll ever find anything similar to it. If you want a cheap fisheye just get an Opteka
16x9 inc 0.45 fisheye comes close for alot cheaper
Anyone here willing to sell me a 72mm 0.3x Opteka Fisheye tho? For my HMC-150🎥🥺
u can get a brand new one for like $160 homie
@@dylanwiggins839 bruh where at I’ve been looking everywhere and its back ordered or sold out
I got mine on amazon
@@aldenkurth1761 rly? I could find every size but 72mm
@@jorgeflores2825 yee bro a couple months ago
It amazes how this camera has made it so long, that tech was dog shit 15 years ago. Cool Mod, but you couldve just bought an HVX200
Yeah it's retarded how people hate on the vx but hd prosumer video hasn't advanced in years.
Vx footy is better
the hvx doesnt even look like its in focus
Just get a vx. This is wack.
People were adapting mk1s onto every type of camera 10 years ago on skateperception. It looked stupid then and still does.
The dvx100/mk2 bayo was the only 4:3 fisheye setup that could touch the vx. This cropped hd stuff needs to go.
@@jamiepippin3892 I feel you bro dvx100/mk2 is dope. But as vx2kmk1 owner I want a camcorder and not go the dslr route. As tapes getting more rare i think getting a hxc1000 mk1 is a good alternative.
@@MkandaGnarlyyy do you have that combo?
@@Beltway Not yet man 😅
