@@reggiewhite4111 Its funny how we can read so many different stories about who is fastest. I personally don't care because looks, to me, are more important than who can beat others (by 1 or 2 sled lengths) at the end of the lake. I watch Snow Trax religiously and love the Lester boys and there input on the good and bad about different manufactures
What's with the standing up on the Doo? Who stands up during a drag race? It's like dragging a parachute.... unless you want a certain sled to lose that is...
I would say the biggest difference is the Matryx platform. It just feels so good going in and coming out of corners on the trails. There is nothing on the market like it. Personally I wouldn't own a 2 stroke anymore. I don't want to make the time to be tearing engines down every 8000km or so. Which is every 2 years. Less time in the shop and more on the trails. Now if we could only get Polaris to put their 4 strokes in sleds.
@@thomasg990 The trail ripping sweet spot is 136-139. You don't wash out powering out of a corner as easy allowing you to come on the throttle earlier and gain a substantial lead vs lesser track sizes. Any larger then 139 and it will start over steering you around corners. You can leave the 129 and less tracks well behind the pack. There's a reason all the premium trail machines run a 136-139. You pay extra to be top trail dog.
@@shperax disagree I ride with renegades also with a Polaris 800 R and I have a 2016 blizzard and I'm on eco mode all day no one touches me I can get off the sled shut it down and take off my helmet while they're still fighting the corners 🤷🏻♂️
@@thomasg990 The sled companies hire pro riders to test these machines and come to these conclusions. Personally I like short tracks so I can drift around corners. That doesn't make it the best possible setup in timed races with professional riders. All the manufacturers have done that and come to the conclusion that 136-139 is the sweet spot. Just cause you like it or have it, that doesn't make it "the best". It just needs to be fun for you and that's all that really matters.
@@shperax I still think 121-129 is the sweet spot I've been riding since I was 13 now 52 so I'm pretty sure I've been riding long enough to know.. my cousin got rid of his sled last year he said he should of kept it cause they'll never probably make 121s no more and they all push very dangerous on trails too pushing into corners when someone else is coming pushing towards you cause they can't handle the sled pushing..🤷🏻♂️ hence why people are wrecking more than usual.. pretty sad I think the market is just targeting non trail rider's and the crossover and mountain section and you can't even go off most of the trails any more without getting a ticket 🤷🏻♂️
Not necessarily. There are many who would actually argue that the 137 is a slight advantage. Once its rolling it really makes very little difference at all.
137 track are harder to pull and slower, everyone know that and comparing a 600 /650 is like comparing a 800 /850 Hey guy's you have lost my respect ... Still like your show because i am still a big snowmobiling fan but as far as your comparo it is questionable.
Why do you say the 137 on the Doo would be an advantage? You are doing a rolling start on what appears to be very cold, packed, hard snow with good grip. The 137 may be better from a dead start, but a extra spinning weight is a disadvantage in this case. You show 4 different pulls where Mark is standing in all of them. In 3 of the 4 pulls, Mark is standing on the Doo and the Polaris has a larger gap. In the pull where Mark is standing on the Polaris, the gap is smaller. I have both Polaris and Ski Doo machines, I don't care what is faster, and you do state this is "unscientific" and you are having fun, I get it. However, you guys get accused of bias toward Polaris, maybe the parameters of this test show some of the reasons.
Many go fast guys feel the 137 is an advantage becasue the track has a lower attack angle. Ask yourself this, why did arctic and yamaha choose 137 skidframes for the t-cat and SRX? If a 129 was faster, they would have gone that route. We didnt show EVERY run. We probably did 30 runs that day. Not all were filmed and not all filmed shots were useable. THe ones that worked showed mark on the skidoo more often. But the actual run count was even for both. Funny how no one comments on me being heavier than mark and that being a disadvantage.
Is it me or did it seem like the guy on the Ski Doo did their best to sit as high as possible to make sure they took in as much wind as possible!! Not to mention the track size difference, I'm sure it's no big deal a few more pounds and a little more track to turn!
How about a 650 vs. 800/850? I'd love to see how much of a difference there really is? Is it worth spending the extra cash? Especially since the 650's are so good. I really enjoyed the low tech approach to this video. Same thing I would have done with my buddies to form our opinion.
You both need to have the same seating position, not one standing the other sitting. It might not change the results too much, but at those speeds the wind resistance is significant. I just saw the other similar post...
Mark had back surgery right before the snow season so it was just uncomfortable to sit for this race. Didn't really impact the outcome. Both sleds had high trail windshields anyways so they're not exactly set up for racing. This was just for fun and entertainment like our Timbersled vs Assault race last season.
If you really wanted to prove which one was faster why didn't you have the same size tracks? Why were you standing up on the skidoo? If it had Bean a Fair race I think they would have almost been equal in speed. Or at least very close.
What's with the tape on the Ski Doo ski loop? Also how about a full shoot out on these comparing everything (handling, features, etc.). I could care less about top speed runs drag racing.
The power difference is minimal and I don't care about that. Both have plenty ! I want to know which sled beats you up the least at the end of the day. Steering ease, ride quality, comfort, weight or feeling of weight, fuel and oil economy ? ??????
Blew the doors off? Video looks awful close in every run, when has a length or so become blow the doors off? Especially with a shorter track on one machine
Chill bro. It was an excited comment after having some fun. Ever get excited? The track length MIGHT make a TINY difference if at all. A snowmobile doesnt know how long its track is. The only disadvantage would be a few lbs of weight. But less than the difference between mark and I.
I ride polaris and have a lunch 650. Great sled ! However it ALWAYS takes a bigger motor for polaris to beat ski doo. I'm actually not surprised that the ski doo was that close
I have to disagree with that I know the 600 cfi 2018 xcr 600 136” was easily beating skidoo etec every run. Also the 800 HO cfi was always giving the etec 850 run for its money.

How does the Cat 6000 perform vs the Ski-Doo 600 RR in a drag race? Can you guys do that race? I have a 6000 and it rocks also
Thanks Terry
It would get mauled. The 6000 is a solid motor, but its slower than Doo and polaris' previous 600's. These new motors would embarrass it
@@reggiewhite4111 Its funny how we can read so many different stories about who is fastest. I personally don't care because looks, to me, are more important than who can beat others (by 1 or 2 sled lengths) at the end of the lake. I watch Snow Trax religiously and love the Lester boys and there input on the good and bad about different manufactures
But does the polaris still have a run-in system that reduce 30% of the horsepower?
Why not 129 vs 129 ?
Who stands up and races?? I've seen it all now.
Excellent comparo.
I’ve got a ‘14 600 pro RMK and the new 650 RMKs have me drooling. I’d love to see a review of them compared to the 600 RMKs.
Great vs segment!, but would of been even better if they had identical track lengths.
What's with the standing up on the Doo? Who stands up during a drag race? It's like dragging a parachute.... unless you want a certain sled to lose that is...
Polaris newest joint, against a chassis ive been pounding on since 17'
I would say the biggest difference is the Matryx platform.
What I'm waiting for and keep the 129 ice ripper in them for handling purposes 👍🏼
They really pull for 600 class sleds. Impressive.
Which engine will blow up 1st
All new snowmobiles are blowing up. Thanks to the standards on emissions they are forced to make them run super lean!
@@skidoorulz4914 i have been a cat my my entire life and even the new 800s are popping with less than 200 miles on them....
Where them Ski-Dont's made at🤔
If both were 129s it would be closer. But Cool comparison
Not necessarily. There are many who would actually argue that the 137 is a slight advantage. Once its rolling it really makes very little difference at all.
137 track are harder to pull and slower, everyone know that and comparing a 600 /650 is like comparing a 800 /850
Hey guy's you have lost my respect ...
Still like your show because i am still a big snowmobiling fan but as far as your comparo it is questionable.
@@tequilaboss1 I totally agree
The Doo obly has a 1-ply track and the Polaris has a 2-ply. So maybe Doo actually has the advantage as a single ply should roll easier.
Why would you stand up on the sled while drag racing ???? I don’t get it ….
Back injury.
Do a video of the 850s
Just wondering who tries to get a top speed standing like a parachute ??
Frank, this was UNSCIENTIFIC AND WE WERE JUST OUT HAVING FUN!! Relax and don't take it so seriously!!!!
@@snowtrax Thanks guys. Its all good...
@@snowtrax No worries, it did look like fun, results are marginal and as expected.
We switched back and forth. The disadvantage would be equal either way. It made no difference. The polaris was still faster with mark on it.
@@pavmentsurfer13 Thanks Luke, keep up the great videos. I hope Mark's back gets better, back issues are terrible.
If you really wanted to prove which one was faster why didn't you have the same size tracks? Why were you standing up on the skidoo? If it had Bean a Fair race I think they would have almost been equal in speed. Or at least very close.
Read the comment, Bernie. This has been explained probably a dozen times already.
What's with the tape on the Ski Doo ski loop? Also how about a full shoot out on these comparing everything (handling, features, etc.). I could care less about top speed runs drag racing.
Ski loop got busted in a creek crossing and we haddnt got the replacement yet. Not going to let that stop us from riding.
Thanks guys real test in the outdoors.👍💪👏
Lol real tast whiy would hi stand up on a lake 🤦♂️👎👎👎👎
Not tryin to be negative but your running a129 more hp sled against a 137 in less hp sled did anybody think the outcome would be different
This was just for fun, dude. Nothing scientific here. Just a father and son having a good day...
Would be cool to see how the Polaris 650 stacks up to the Yamaha Genesis 1049
Your onto something guys, that is cool, maybe do the 20km/h to the cones next then punch it, 👊 that is a great segment!!
Thank you!!
Why would you stand up while drag racing?
The power difference is minimal and I don't care about that. Both have plenty ! I want to know which sled beats you up the least at the end of the day. Steering ease, ride quality, comfort, weight or feeling of weight, fuel and oil economy ? ??????
Blew the doors off? Video looks awful close in every run, when has a length or so become blow the doors off? Especially with a shorter track on one machine
Easy there big fella. It was just for fun and nothing scientific.
I was thinking the same thing lol everytime they were really close.
Chill bro. It was an excited comment after having some fun. Ever get excited? The track length MIGHT make a TINY difference if at all. A snowmobile doesnt know how long its track is. The only disadvantage would be a few lbs of weight. But less than the difference between mark and I.
@@pavmentsurfer13 no offense but you're doing a review that subscribers use to compare machines, you need to keep it real 😉
We got a ski doo renegade 600 and a mxz12
I ride polaris and have a lunch 650. Great sled ! However it ALWAYS takes a bigger motor for polaris to beat ski doo. I'm actually not surprised that the ski doo was that close
I have to disagree with that I know the 600 cfi 2018 xcr 600 136” was easily beating skidoo etec every run. Also the 800 HO cfi was always giving the etec 850 run for its money.
Why is the guy on the doo standing up?
Guy on the Polaris is also standing
Try the same length track next time or use a 137 Polaris against a 129 Skidmore and see the reesults
Is that 600 a 2022
They're both 2021 sleds.
Why Stand up when racing????
I recognize that lake😋 I love ripping my old 600xcsp, she's a rocket that nobody takes seriously until they see my tail light at the end. I would take that 650 though I suppose hahahaha
