I'm interested to see the finished project. We built a small house on the farm a while ago. When you think you are finished building, then there was the Carport project. Then the shower and toilet block. The front property wall and gate. I thought finally we done. Nope....lol. At the start of the year a hint from my wife turned into a full blown project and we built a restaurant ...lol. all the best.

Great episode Ryan. Things progressing very well. My brother was a General Contractor in Arizona, learned a lot working with him back 40-45 years ago. The satisfaction of building runs deep in the many people working construction. That second room looks like it should be a bathroom as a bedroom needs, yet sink is Kitchen type? Little Hugo is amazing! So full of wonder, laughs, and energy at this age. So happy to see as it inspires. I was the runt of 3 brothers, so not sure how big brother Otis is feeling, yet he and Hugo will likely be the best of buddies later on and through life once age is less of a factor. I can't get past how wet Thai pours are for slabs and form pours.
My guesses for that new building are:
- Bitcoin farming room
- Separate office space to work late
- Grow rooms for "medicinal plants"
That's all I can think about. Good luck with the build 👍
Also, if you use alternative building methods, you also prevent local builders from earning a living who would use traditional building methods.

We did some work on my wife's house in Thailand in 2022. The contractor and his workers worked very quickly and did a great job. My wife said they always try to finish quickly because they need the money.

Cottage is wired for aircon but it’s too expensive to aircon the front for limited use- there is aircon on the cottage bedroom 👍
Love it. Cob building like in the UK is gaining popularity in Asia. I keep threatening to build one for my Thai wife here in West Virginia, USA 😁. One thing I would love to see you try is a Rammed Earth structure, like much of the Great Wall in China. It only requires dirt, forms and some dry Portland cement, but labor is inexpensive enough in Thailand to justify the intensive labor of compacting the earth. Those homes are super quiet, strong and naturally cooling. Keep up the good work Ryan.

I'll be interested to see the furniture. I do a bit of woodworking and wood turning, and it's a wonderful past time. I know I've mentioned it before, but at the risk of being redundant: Look into a Mini-lathe and some basic tools. Not just for playing around, but to make useful items for yourself, or for sale. Bowls, plates, mallets, honey dippers, candle sticks/lamps, kitchen utensils, knobs.
And with a small mini-lathe (say a Rikon or Jet as example), it's a benchtop, maybe 20" long (approx) by 8-10" wide (approx). As opposed to a large, full sized floor standing model that's much more expensive.
Best of all, Wood Turning lets you use almost any kind of odd piece of wood. Turn it into something useful. Almost nothing need be thrown away, INCLUDING THE CHIPS AND SHAVINGS. Assuming it's not a "toxic" type of wood, that's MULCH for your garden.
As a quick example from North America: Walnut is actually toxic. We learned that from medieval times when horses died from poisoning from walnut shavings in their stalls, they'd pee on the shavings, the water would leech the toxin into a "tea" the horses would be standing in. Seep up through the hoofs and kill the horse eventually.
Walnut shavings used as mulch will kill off vegetation as it does the same thing.
Otherwise, free mulch using woods ok to mulch with.

Hey Ryan, I’m super excited to try the fruiting body mushrooms. As you suggested it’s better to get a couple of months supply as the postage is very expensive. As I checked out their supply the combo pack makes the most sense. So I’m unsure how to manage the intake! If I get 9 bottles containing all the variety of very beneficial capsules, I’d like some guidance on how to manage the intake. Also what’s the shelf life of the capsules. Sorry to be hitting you with all the questions. Hope you can help or point in the right direction. Thank you brother ❤

Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work. You can't change who you are, but you can change what you have in your head, you can refresh what you're thinking about, you can put some fresh air in your brain. It's for the workers who are helping you to move a secret room at your farmhouse side, including the way you questioned by checking about how does it capable to fix at your farmhouse side too.
My wife is Thai,it is very different ways of doing things in construction.i do construction in my home country and you do have to be patient with the ways thing's are done.

You know as per my observation, Hugo will grow up to be different from Otis, he's a real country farm boy, tough and wild, he's gonna be really strong guy
Good vlog as usual, I totally understand the ‘be calm and chill’ attitude when involved in a car crash, however the exceptionally poor driving skills in Thailand (and in some cases anti foreigner attitude) makes the ‘be calm and chill’ option a very difficult place to be.
I consider myself a good driver and along with extra cautious driving because most cars / motorbikes around you are at best predictably unpredictable I have avoided most or suffered little damage from what is a 100% other drivers fault. ( mind you it could be worse it could be India )
It’s 1000% anxiety driving in Thailand because we have to expect the absolutely ridiculous 🤣🤣

Your builder must be happy to work for you - because you are a fair guy. I know from my guys that they didn't receive the final payment many many times while working for Thai customers. Might be unfair but me too I don't work for local clients, too many problems while I love the country and the people here.

The builders have not installed a lintel above your window. This is not normal, even for Thailand and you will end up with cracks and problems in the very near future. However if you tell them now, it is possible to knock out a row of bricks and install one even at a later stage

Agree about the horns in India. It’s dreadful. I have to spend 3 weeks a year in Mumbai and Chennai each year and after a few days the constant noise of horn beeping gets to me. I love India but I could never live there. Car horns being in the top 5 reasons why. Thailand on the other hand which I spend 1-2 month a year in is lovely
