    You can actually do private tours of Stonehenge at sunrise and sunset, where you get to go right up to the stones. I’ve done it twice and it was a really great way to experience it!

    You can visit Stonehenge for free on any day. I know because I made a video about it. There’s a free footpath that runs right alongside the paid one.
    The only difference is it’s £21 cheaper, you’re a few metres further away from the rocks and any exhibition stuff isn’t included. And it doesn’t close so early.

    • @smokinrider
      @smokinrider 3 роки тому

      It’s a byway not a footpath and you can drive on it and park there. Only idiots pay to see something that was given to the public for free access. And £40. Shove that. Surprised they didn’t wild camp there on the byway with the hippies.

    • @havisiting
      @havisiting 3 роки тому

      @@smokinrider when Cecil Chubb gifted Stonehenge to the nation in 1918 he asked that visitors be charged no more than one shilling to enter. By today’s money that’s a little short of £3, so yes, £20 is daylight robbery.
      I don’t blame anyone for paying though if they want to get a littler closer. I just don’t think the extra metres are worth the extra money

    I've been to this area 2 years ago, with my sister. Like real proper tourists whe went to Stonehenge. If we only knew about all the stones around it, it would've saved us lot of money.... Just discovered your video's, I love them! My sister would've too. Sadly she passed away 2 months ago. She's the one I always went to England with. I promised her to take the rocks back that she 'stole' from the beaches at Whitby. She wanted to put them back herself on our planned holiday in 2020. Corona f*cked it up. Now it's my job, I'll bring them back, don't worry.
    I might go back to the New Forest area one day, just to trace our last holiday together. I will keep in mind the free stones.

    Last time I visited Stonehenge it was free, except a charge for the car park, one could also walk amongst the stones, no heritage centre or café just a van in the car park selling tea, coffee and sandwiches, I think it was an ex wartime WVS/NAAFI van. ("Tea, no sugar and a cheese wad, please"). It was still noisy from the A303 running past just far less traffic. Roll on the tunnel, it might become a peaceful place again. It was over 60 years ago though.

    Also, just along from West Kennet Kings Barrow is Swallowhead Springs. An ancient spring emerging from a pair of intertwined trees, forming an arch over the water. People leave gift offerings and tie ribbons on the trees here. Wiltshire is the home of the ancient Druids!

    Little Beanstalks, love it!!! Never heard of Silbury Hill, had to look it up. I read where several tunnels were dug but they are collapsed now, nothing ever found. I was on an organized tour and never saw Woodhenge. They may be walking barefoot because they are "earthing" or grounding with the earth's surface. We had to do a slow drive-by of Stonehenge because that year there was a severe run of foot and mouth disease among the livestock and they were afraid of foot traffic spreading it. So gald you took us on this tour, thanks! Take care you two.

    Keep calm around cattle. Avoid if there is a bull in the field but cows are friendly and inquisitive animals. They will generally approach you out of curiosity but if you run away from them, they will run after you. So, either stand and face them, in which case they will probably wander up to greet you, or walk calmly toward the exit. (Different rules if you have a dog, which will likely frighten them.)

    ...personally, having celebrated the Solstices at Stonehenge, its the public school boys that I find alarming, hurling vitriolic abuse at the Pagans and Druids that hold the place as a priceless source of Earth energy.
    The energy there during the Solstices and Equinox's is amazing and really grounding, go try it x

    The hippies will be walking around barefoot, mainly grounding on the laylines, i’ve never heard of woodhenge, if someone ever said to me i would have thought it was a festival lol

    All the "Henges" are to do with Alien landing grounds like our modern airports. The large one at Amesbury was the departure lounge for the 2nd Class travelers whereas Stonehenge was for VIPs. On top of Silbury was the control tower. The long barrow was a cold store for inflight meals. The White Horse and Man showing more than he should was Alien Graffiti. There you are. All explained. Great video and lots of laughs as usual. Best regards Michael

    Great film. Was that a new personal best time achieved through the cow field? 🏃‍♀️🏃We use Stonehenge as lunch stop off for most trips to the SW, as the cafe does the best pasties and as NT members we can park/visit for free. Good to see woodhenge; we've passed signs to it so often but never stopped.

    As a Wiltshire lad, loved the video. Just as a FYI you dont "have" to pay to see Stonehenge. There is a Byway and "Permissive Path" that while doesnt get you right up to the stones, runs right along the path that you pay £40 pounds to be on ;) Keep up the vids really enjoyed this one!
