The Lakers seem to not be doing much, which I somewhat expected. My hope was for Valenciunas, but he's off the board. I would really investigate getting Kelly Olynyk in a trade using Gabe Vincent and Christian Wood. Olynyk seems like the opposite of Christian Wood. He seems to have a great attitude and has consistently shot at around 40% from 3-point range as a 6'11" guy. This could gain the Lakers a roster spot and save the Lakers around $1.2 million in salary. It seems like the MLE can also be used as a trade salary, so trying to obtain Olynyk for MLE money plus guys like Wood and JHS could also be an option. This is not what I'd ideally want for the Lakers' FA moves, but they haven't pulled off the other options. Olynyk actually seems like an obtainable target at this point. I'd wait to pull the trigger on using DLo in a trade (mid-season trade deadline).
Lakers are trying to play the long game. Remember you need contracts to trade around the trade deadline the Lakers with the new coach and not playing that dumb ass defense will definitely make the playoffs this year with this team. The question will be who will get traded by the deadline, most likely D’Angelo Russell because he’s on an expired contract. I don’t expect the Lakers to do muchbefore the actual season starts because there’s no point in trading away everybody you have before the season starts

It's amazing how short everyone's memories are. Last year, they said there wasn't much Rob could do. After all the trades everyone was giving Rob credit for doing a good job. Rob also said it would be hard to make trades before LeBron decided to give up money. If LeBron doesn't give up money, it would still be difficult to make a trade.

Last offseason was only good because the FO got AR DLo, Vando, Rui to re-sign. This offseason is looking a lot like last season with new signings that flopped. Gabe didn’t live up to expectations, Hayes couldn’t score or rebound together with AD on the floor. Those return guys had no clear direction and played small ball that is still a low win scheme. The Lakers need to go back to the 2020 championship model that had two offensive attackers from the wings, a strong rim protecting 5 who can average 9 ppg and 9 rpg with AD on the floor, a defensive specialist guard and a high IQ ball handler. Together, the 4&5 defensive strong duo needs to average 30-35 ppg and 20-30 rpg. Vando has the defensive specialis who was Caruso covered. With CP going to the Spurs, the Lakers have to find another high IQ ball handler. Knect has one of the wing attacker position covered. Klay can be the other wing attacker whether it be shooting 3’s, dribble and shoot from the wing. The Lakers haven’t had wing attackers since Kuz, KCP, Morris disappeared for the small ball Westbrook fiasco. The Lakers are still lost chasing a winning small ball scheme. Small ball was an option on the 2020 team, not the bread and butter. The 2020 formula still works today. Minn emulated it with Naz and KAT/Gobert but fell short because they only have Edwards outside the 4&5. Klay will face heavy pressure if he fails over in Dallas. In LA, he is a local guy from RSM. There is acceptance here. Outside of Klay the next domino will be Derozan. Trade for Klay, sign Deroz to an MLE.

I have a bad feeling that the Lakers are once again going to miss out on filling out the roster with good rotational players by trying to focus on getting big names like Brook Lopez and Klay. At this point, Grant is the best two-way player available on the trade market, and I think they should also consider trading with the Wizards for Kuz and Brogdon. I’m a bigger fan of aggregating assets to get more than just one player on an unfavorable contract like Grant’s. As for anyone saying we have to get a center. Lakers just need a bruiser who can play 15-20min and alongside AD in certain situations. There is no center worth getting that moves Bron to the 3 in the starting line up.

Last offseason was only good because the FO got AR DLo, Vando, Rui to re-sign. This offseason is looking a lot like last season with new signings that flopped. Gabe didn’t live up to expectations, Hayes couldn’t score or rebound together with AD on the floor. Those return guys had no clear direction and played small ball that is still a low win scheme. The Lakers need to go back to the 2020 championship model that had two offensive attackers from the wings, a strong rim protecting 5 who can average 9 ppg and 9 rpg with AD on the floor, a defensive specialist guard and a high IQ ball handler. Together, the 4&5 defensive strong duo needs to average 30-35 ppg and 20-30 rpg. Vando has the defensive specialis who was Caruso covered. With CP going to the Spurs, the Lakers have to find another high IQ ball handler. Knect has one of the wing attacker position covered. Klay can be the other wing attacker whether it be shooting 3’s, dribble and shoot from the wing. The Lakers haven’t had wing attackers since Kuz, KCP, Morris disappeared for the small ball Westbrook fiasco. The Lakers are still lost chasing a winning small ball scheme. Small ball was an option on the 2020 team, not the bread and butter. The 2020 formula still works today. Minn emulated it with Naz and KAT/Gobert but fell short because they only have Edwards outside the 4&5. Klay will face heavy pressure if he fails over in Dallas. In LA, he is a local guy from RSM. There is acceptance here.
Outside of Klay the next domino will be Derozan. Trade for Klay, sign Deroz to an MLE.

I have a bad feeling that the Lakers are once again going to miss out on filling out the roster with good rotational players by trying to focus on getting big names like Brook Lopez and Klay. At this point, Grant is the best two-way player available on the trade market, and I think they should also consider trading with the Wizards for Kuz and Brogdon. I’m a bigger fan of aggregating assets to get more than just one player on an unfavorable contract like Grant’s. As for anyone saying we have to get a center. Lakers just need a bruiser who can play 15-20min and alongside AD in certain situations. There is no center worth getting that moves Bron to the 3 in the starting line up.
Rob knows teams don't want to make the Lakers better. They have 18 trophies. Would you? So this is against Rob right off the bat. But Rob needs to play the game six months in advance with phone calls and personal visits even if the opposing GM has no idea what he wants. Build the relationships.
