Are you wondering how I use effects pedals on the harp? I made a video explaining this! ua-cam.com/video/Y5253VL9MXk/v-deo.html
Honestly no. I'm a synth player. Going to check it out anyway.
When I saw the your harp/distortion video on my recommendations my reaction was "WTF?". Clicked mostly out of curiosity. I was absolutely stunned by the gorgeous soundscapes you created with that pedal. My brain kept wanting to toss in a drum beat, or a droning synth line.
I also have the Miku stomp. My goal is to use it in a musically useful context. Hopefully soon I will pair it up with my Dreadbox Hypnosis and it's gorgeous real spring reverb.
i want someone to look at me the way emily looks at the miku pedalboard
😂 😂 honestly I totally feel that hahahaha
I kinda love it. Like a glitchy voice over a harp
Haha same!! You're so right :)
Emily, your reaction when the pedal glitches is hilarious. Love your style!
Hahaha thank you so much. I’ve been trying to find a pedal as ridiculous as Miku to react to but I just can’t find anything!!
@@emilyharpist check out the Way Huge Atreides. It's got some crazy sounds going on
this is what i imagine a kids drawing would sound like if it came to life lol
LMFAOOO honestly that's a great description
Omg you replied I think your amazing i never thought I wanted to hear a distorted harp till I saw you lol
Hahaha thank you so much!! 😂 at first I didn’t expect the distorted harp to sound SO GOOD but I’m so glad it did!! 😈🔥
It's very cool, but now that Korg stopped making them the prices are astronomical.
for real :(
I'm going to write angry letters to Korg until they quit fucking around and produce a miku v2 with improved tracking
@@samuelberson8202 bro fr
If they made one for Kaito id buy it
This is a hilarious pedal and your presentation is priceless.
Thank you so much! This was one of my favorite videos ever to make!!
I saw a demo of Miku from Andertons Music in hospital and couldn't come by laughing. When I was "released" I crossed the street to order it at our local music shop. I understand it contains samples of the actual voice of a popular hologram popstar, who of course has the voice of a real singer (female). It works a lot better with single string playing on a guitar and tracks also bending and vibrato. So I played and send "Happy Birthday" to a Japanese friend ... no idea what phrases actually came out, hahaha ! (I am sure no rude words will be put in a Japanese pedal) Now I will try it with an e-violin ... ;-)
Hahah I love Miku!! It’s such a fun novelty pedal I feel like it would give anyone a good laugh!
Love the BGM.
Theres probably like a smol miku inside the pedal
Hope one day the Miku v2 comes out with better tracking and latency, it got to happen. I'm not asking too much, it doesnt need to be polyphonic, that will another level.
one can dream!
@@emilyharpist It has to be real! Come onn, or another one similar to KK slider
This is my favorite review on UA-cam right now!
Bonus; it led me to your channel.
hahah thank you so much!! ♡ Miku is such a wild pedal!
such a delight watching you react
This is wonderful I'm fucking sobbing
Thank you so much 😂
i didn't know the scissor issues went back this far
Everybody reacts almost exactly the same to this pedal. Incredulous laughter followed by wonder.
I keep talking myself out of getting this pedal, but I do have the Gakken NSX-39 "Pocket Miku", which is the same chip but in a Stylophone. Tapping out little songs with the stylus on the conductive "keyboard" is a lot of fun.
(You can also hook it up to a computer over USB and reprogram the phrases or control it from a DAW or something, but that feels like cheating.)
I loved your reactions to that, the miku sounds really funny on harp!
😂 thank you so much!!!
Cutest thing I’ve seen today.
Thank you!! Thanks for being here!! 🥺❤️
Hahahaaha I’m laughing so hard I’m crying!! 😂😂🤣🤣 Hahah I just looove your reaction! 😂 I so didn’t know what to expect from this pedal, thanks for sharing!! 2:28 🤣🤣🤣
Hahah thanks so much for watching!!! 😂❤️❤️❤️
This was everything I expected and more! 🤣🤣🤣
This is so wholesome
I have seen this pedal before but I especially liked the near riot you created experimenting with it. Your joy was obvious and infectious. Have you ever heard of “That Pedal Show”? It’s oriented to pedal use with guitars but it is extremely well done. It provides a wide range of pedal demonstration. They present a deep knowledge into pedal use and the principles behind their design and development. It’s by far the “primo” channel on effects pedals. They work with pedal designers but don’t accept fees or anything to promote any of the devices or other other sound equipment that they use. Dan, one of the two presenters, (Mick is the other) has invented a pedal switching/controlling device that many well known professional musicians employ and he personally sets up many of their pedalboard systems. It’s also a fun show and they provide a highlighted list of the various points of interest in each each show so you can easily switch to whatever part of the show that interests you. They thoroughly investigate various types of pedals that they use and have a wealth of past videos listed by the subjects covered. I’ve turned to them repeatedly to guide me in developing various pedalboards. One valuable issue they always cover is the placement of the various pedals and how the order effects the sounds produced. Another nice feature is by using Dan’s system they can immediately switch the placement/order of the pedals into any set up desired. Very low key channel but jam packed with up to date information. I highly recommend you check it out on UA-cam @ thatpedalshow.com
This video is pure joy.
I expected this to be kinda funny but I did not expect to be laughing this hard before the first minute!
lmaooo thank you for watching!! :) ♡
5:55 miku gains sentience and emidiatly gains the urge to kill Sam witwicky.
6:00 Holy shit, a secret transmission! :-D
Just when I thought the Andertons review of this pedal was the most hilarious one... this is priceless!
Oh Miku harp, my beloved
I'm here from the JHS live show from last year, commenting as instructed. :D
I wasn’t aware electric harp existed before this! Subscribed!
My cat, Pixel, is so… concerned.
😂
Ahaa... Aphex Twin makes his music with a harp, now i finally know
Korg = Legend.
Electro Harmonix are the pedal wizards though
Glorious
Thanks! This was so much fun hahah
Sounds like 'Adventure Time'!
😆
Cutest pedal ever 😂love it i want to get one to play with my cat meowing 😻
Omg Emily you look so different!
Haha yes this was 3 years ago! Time flies!
Looking back...was this the first instance of Emily Does Scissors Badly? Haha.. fun stuff!
I love that t-shirt.
Magical talking harp.
I want a Miku for my desktop synth/noise board!
Worth it!!
The voices of animal planet
I don't know how I end up here... I don't like unboxing videos nore those about reactions....
Yet I found your style and channel intriguing!.. In a COOL way.. if this word still has a meaning 😅
BTW this pedal sounds like a band of Minions and R2-D2 directed by C-3PO!! 😂
How have I not seen this after 2 years hahaha, I couldn't stop laughing at this I started crying
Yes. There is a tiny man in a miku costume in the pedal who's high pitched because he's small.
I wish they would re-release this pedal lol, commenting so this pops up on others homepages/recommended.
Thanks for sharing this is pretty great, im sure the pedal community would dig watching this if they were aware of it.
I wish they would too! My friend Jimmy works at Korg and I keep asking him to try to get them to make it again but so far no luck!! You know I’ll be first in line for the V2 if it ever comes out!!! 😂
People say Hatsune Miku, but all I hear is Portal turrets :-D
We want more videos in which you just try to open boxes with scissors 😂😂😂
Q: Does the harp have pick ups or are you running off a mic in the...the hallows? The harpy hallows? Le petit crevasse?
My harp is actually electroacoustic - there's three pickups in it, and they all combine into one 1/4" output, like a guitar! So i can run pedals into it from there into an amp, or audio interface
@@emilyharpist Thanks Emily!! ^.^ that is so cool!! I obviously don't encourage this as it would be a deep reworking of an instrument, but you've got me dreaming of the same set up with different octave 'zones' (not musically educated) per 1/4 out, such that you could modify the three 'channels' with separate pedals. I suppose a looper is the practical way to do that, but I like circuit bending so that is where my mind went. :p Keep up the great work, Harpist extraordinaire! I love the experimentation :3
@@misanthropicgestures No that's EXACTLY how my harp works!!! I should really make a video soon about it all. There are three pickups, but FOUR 1/4" lines out - one for each pickup if i want to send three of the "zones" somewhere different, and the fourth one is a blend of all three - I typically use the single channel out (that fourth one i mentioned) for my videos/pedal demos, but I'm long overdue to start experimenting with it. I've spent the last six months of so getting a handle on how the harp really reacts to a lot of different pedals and I hope I can take that jump to multiple FX chains out of the harp soon!
@@emilyharpist :D That is so cool!! Charlie Brown Teacher Voice talking to kk slider? Checkeroni! My last bonus point inquiry tho: ua-cam.com/video/YCL9xJtksKM/v-deo.html
Do you think if you filled the hollow of a harp with a heavy gas, because of the percussion element of the instrument, it would affect tone like with this viola? I wonder if it would impact the pick ups themselves...I'm not finding a lot on this. Please don't up and fill the cavity of your instrument with street gases.
@@emilyharpist actually the 4th output is not the blended sound of the string pickups, but the additional soundboard pickup.
Every string has a piezo under it, which - as you said - are separated into three regions and grouped together. but there is one additional (traditional) soundboard pickup that gives a more typical harp sound, since it also captures some of the body resonances.
Im sure you know - just clarifying for potential future readers.
ps: love the idea of using the miko with a harp. im sure this would be fun for harp lessons with younger kids
I especially loved this video lol almost as good as seeing you play a recorder with your nose hahaha
😂 this is definitely one of my favorites hahaha thanks so much ❤️
@@emilyharpist you are very welcome lol
Monosynth pedal? Lmao, the reaction is priceless 🤣🤣. It's almost like Roger Troutman was trying to meet you halfway lol. (R.I.P. R.T.)
😂 😂 I love this thing!!!
HER
I want to try playing slap bass with this pedal
It doesn't really work. The low frequencies screw up the pedal
I’m pretty sure your the girl from staycations stream on apex
I wonder if they made it monophonic on purpose because the notes sound bad enough on their own?
Hahaha I have no idea!!! Possibly!!
Alot of synth and bass emulator guitar pedals can only do one note at a time without getting all screwed up
Question: do you mix up pedals or mixing them up for Experimental like guitar or bass can you drop (D, B, A) like some metal bands?
The video starts here: 0:43
Thank you. Hilarious!
hahah thank you for being here!! this pedal made me laugh so hard :)
I don't think I've ever watched a video of this pedal not laugh
sounds like GladOS
KK Slider!
🐶 I HAD to do the KK Cafe cover with this pedal once I got it 😂
The most expensive joke pedal ever made (now). Goes for over 400 on Reverb
I know!! Ugh I regret letting mine go!!
ma ma ma harp
What an odd little pedal :O sound reminded me of demented Minions in Despicable Me 2. Not sure the result is usable in any musical context but by gosh, someone had fun dreaming this up
you need to play with knobs more :)
It sounds like Wall-e trying to sing to Eva
🤣🤣🤣
The day Miku became man
LMFAOOOO
6:00 wtf is that lol😂
Actually it's sounds pretty creepy...
It is a pedal you buy and laugh at for an afternoon. But then it's done.
Weird.
Probably an interesting effect to use on VOX.
Or with an instrument, follow up with a reverb pedal for some sustain. That may have the tail end of each note drop off not fall off entirely. That might actually let you go from note to note and not feel so clunky. What a weird pedal.
This video upset my dog
Omg. This pedal is Ai...
Its talking lol
Sounds about as musical as the fart pedal 🤷♂️ 😆
You can't play chords with this pedal, dear. It hates them 😂😂
