Poomsae/Kata are supposed to be self-defense repositories. This is just a flashy choreography to impress kids.
Kukkiwon is going a very dangerous path. Taekwondo has already become so watered down and competition oriented, that most practicioners are not even able to use their hands in a fight.
The so-called grand masters are forgetting their military heritage.

Los poomsae/kata están más que desmontar dos que no sirven para nada más que circo. Ya que se hace circo que se haga bien y sea espectacular. Hablas de una herencia militar cuando tampoco se ha demostrado una eficiencia real en combate. A día de hoy lo más real está en el MMA y todo el munyse tiene que ir adaptando. Es un hecho.
I totally agréé with this. Hère in Africa i keep saying that taekwondohas totally forgotten its military héritage.
I am not interested in these new performance sport poomsae. Some of the moves are cool and are useful but most is just more for acrobatic or showy purposes. Also it doe snot begin and end in the same spot.

@@MaharlikaAWA it does not at least in WTF TKD and for that matter neither does keumgang. Personally I am not leaning to these "new" poomsea as I am trained in WTF and a few other martial arts and was always taught to master the classics. But I can see the interest in forms with more foot work. I would nit dislike them based on a start and end point. There are other things to critique than positioning.
@@kpeggs82 I like the classics just as you say. Not the competition ones because they're too flashy and acrobatic. The average person cannot actually do that stuff. When you're in your old age you're not going to be able to do as many things like that. I still think both Ilyeo and Keumgang have moves you can use and are good forms.
@@MaharlikaAWA I have never even seen a competition where these would be allowed. Maybe I am too sheltered. I asked im another video where the origin of these are form. If you did this form in a competition where I am you would probably be disqualified. Abd I agree the classic are for life. And you can always take away something from the form at every level.
