Yet another excellent talk. Thank you. I have often wondered why Sprague was not better known or appreciated. The comments regarding Edison and his less than honourable accreditation methods does not surprise me.
I was a trolley operator at SEPTA-Red Arrow and on the 80 cars some controllers still had a GE logo attached. But one controller had The GE symbol with text surrounding it, witch read: "SPRAGUE-GENERAL ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT CONTROLS".
I was astonished to see in the lecture that the electrical efficiency of the 1892 Jumbo dynamo was put as low as 1.6%. Did the presenter misread a figure of 16% - or 66%, which would be much more believable. Here in England the coastal resort of Blackpool had an electric tramcar (streetcar) line operating from 1885, installed by local pioneer Michael Holroyd Smith. Current collection for the ten cars in use was from an underground conductor in a conduit slot. The line was re-equipped for overhead trolley wire collection in 1899 and is still in operation today.
⚡ Thanks ⚡ Magnificent 💙🚡💙🚡💙 I am 99% sure That Frank was Using Nikola Tesla 's motor... & ⁉️ WHY ⁉️ No mention of the Gratest master in History of invention: master ⚡Nikola Tesla ⚡ . Ps: senator Edward Otlet was Responsible for Tramway 🚡 in Belgium however There is "NO" Station named after: Nikola, Frank & Edward. Shameless ignorance 😡.
