I came here from their reddit post, this is proof of concept for a mod they were working on to swap/edit the engine sounds. Here i think they replaced the v6 sound with the v8.
AH love this game but would really love if the final V8 sound was swapped with the Gnarly sounding V6 (which sounds like a v8 if we are being realistic) oh well. great concept even if there isn't a mod.
That could be done, I just don't see very well and swapping out the files and testing them can be very burdening. Since it keeps getting worse, I have less and less time available to do anything at all. But you can add me on Steam and request it, there is another person that added me on Steam and requested a engine sound variant but never came back online, so ehh. If you add me and ask for the mod I should be able this week to give a look to the files required to mod, since I used to do hard copy but that method only replaces certain engine audio sounds. But there's a file (which I had not tested yet) that might refer to exact sounds to replace it fully. My Steam is: steamcommunity.com/id/GanjaCommando

@@DutchGuyMike Man that sounds awful with your eyesight. :/ I hope you find a way to get it from getting worse to even better again. Good luck and all the best. I still love this game to bits and for me the most annoying thing, apart from the underwhelming V8 Sound, is the missing Startupsounds on the V8s, the v6 have. This is SO important for me because it adds so much gnarlyness (what :D) and atmosphere. It is a shame, since the exhaustanimation is also there. But no Sound :(

I actually didn't work on it further, I found another method to possibly replace every single sound (since you can still hear the low level engine sound) but I may have found a way to replace all sounds according to the sounds one would want. I simply haven't worked on it further due to medical reasons but if you like I can send you my Steam account/friend code here so you can add me and I will pass along the file, but it is simply not yet fully completed.
