I would like to think my top water fishing is where I really excel . Ive smoked then on the Rumba and yes color is important , but not super critical . I belive presentation is everything , with accurate casting. Dig the I Loud , caught my biggest fish this year on one . ( Pre Spawn ) I’m with Griff in some circumstances I like a lot of commotion on the surface. I don’t get to wrapped up in my rods . Vary between 6’ 8” to 7 “ Med to Heavy . But I do like a Fast tip. Also I’m very old school and fish 110 % Mono . When searching for fish I throw walking baits on super long cast. If the water has a chop or wind picks up pretty good . I’ll toss around a 110 WP . Good stuff as always and always enjoy when you 2 talk about your defferent approaches to certain situations .
I sort of fall between Ben and Griff and Geoff on the color thing. Most fish that live in high light environments--which applies to black bass--have very good vision. They can distinguish more subtle hues than we can and they can also can see in the dark much better than we can. This applies both to simply how clearly they can see and that they can see more color detail in the dark. This is just fish evolution. At the same time, I'm not convinced that fine tuning some super specific color or pattern is a big deal. I basically try to have "color profiles" with me like: - Black - Baitfish colors, ghost-style in clearer water, opaque-style (which includes white/bone) in dirtier water. - Sunfish/perch (which for me includes pink and chartreuse) - Crawdad colors like blue, red, and brown. In my experience this seems to be the one that benefits most from overthinking.
Glad to see you guys mentioned the IMA Roumba. It is one of my favorite topwater/subsurface baits. And the Rattling Roumba has a great clicking sound as it comes through the water. The silent version is also great when the fish get accustomed to hearing sounds. Don't sleep on this bait guys and gals.
Great vid like always guys. Next a story regarding color 🤷♂️, So a longtime ago I watched a topwater color choosing video where you recommended a clear colors at night because the fish could see the silhouette of the bait. After catching tons of fish on a transparent color I went fishing with a friend who thought I was crazy for using a color other than black or another solid color for a night fishing. That night I caught 2x more bass than my friend who was throwing black and green pumpkin topwaters so I guess y'all were right. 😂
Peanut .. I would judge it off light situation and water clarity. Plus the wind might come into play ? Depending on the species , clear water with clear sky I like translucent colors. Cloudy or low light darker colors. Most my fishing is for Small Mouths and they really get after loud colors Pinks and Chartreuse etc . Griff got me on tossing Pink around. It works for me ( Most the time ) 🙄
Love my Levante series rods for top water and swimbaits!! Have to get me that Megabass I-jack, wanted one for a long time. Love the I-Loud but change out the hooks on it.
I like to jerk the buzzjets under the surface and let them pop back up kinda like a floating jerkbait but with more commotion and more of a bluegill profile. The lare buzzjet I use more as a traditional wake. They get hammered! I'm surprised they weren't mentioned
What “stuff” do you throw on the Levante Leviathan? Can you give me a list of good baits? I have the rod just haven’t decided what to throw on it. Thanks guys!
I think the Gong is just a newer version of the heddon big bud the only difference I think is that the heddon can be used as a crankbait as well and go like 2ft but. In Japan they love the Big bud and it gets bit and hunts like crazy when u crank it so I can see why the Gong would work well. That J.boy from Imx label is a great finesse version of the big bud it caught me a 5lb snakehead using it not to long ago the hooks stood up no problem was pretty impressed.
Off topic, but I am looking into a new bottom contact rod for texas rig worm/creature, wobble head, and jig. I have coupe Expride B, Nrx 894 and thinking about something in the Megabass line. Thought about some of the Orochi Braillist or Perfect pitch maybe? Is there something else you would recommend for bottom contact? I love the idea of the new Destroyer stuff just needing to stay in the middle price category for now.
Dude my I jack in Golden carp has been SMASHING smallmouth this year. The paint is 100% percent gone from hook rash and there are big cracks in the body on each side of the clacker. Fry guarders ht this thing. Also high sun with a slight chop I've had great success fishing it a bit faster just under the surface, just fast enough you can start to feel the Rod tip thump
The explanations of how the lures worked were interesting. But my coffee almost came out of my nose when he called a $17 lure “relatively inexpensive.” Since I brew my coffee with a pinch of Carolina Reaper, that would have been painful.

@@ricksonora6656 I’m trying to triple down. Im just stating that $17 for a quality lure is definitely inexpensive and $25+ for a small lure is definitely expensive. Just trying to pick your brain.

I’m trying to decide color on the Silent Blaster. How would you choose?
I've been catching them on the adusta silent blaster! The thing calls in fish with how loud it is. Love the ability to change the tail blade/spinner

I love fishing the I Jack. I was hooked after my third cast produced a solid Largemouth.
Awesome vid as always! I was crushing them yesterday on the Buzzin' Crank Heavy Hitter. Love the sound it makes.

Bucca Bull Rat at night for me has been 🔥🔥🔥. So much fun
What about the Evergreen ND180 and the Attic Annie wakebaits?! I have good luck on them and they’re so fun to throw!

The Killer Code seems like it would handle the I-Loud and I-Jack really well?
And how does the I loud compare to the I jack?
Killer Code is great for both of those! I jack is super slow moving, I loud is a little more aggressive and multiple sounds.
The gong reminds me of the big flap tail musky topwaters. Same sound and seemingly do nothing action. There's definitely something to that sound.
Very similar!
What's the difference between the I loud and the I Jack?

Any luck getting any of them dang Dice lures in such a headache locating them...😒

Friend or foe when throwing a wake bait?
Is the jackall chan wake discontinued? I love them, but they've disappeared from stores.
do you ship to spain?
Is this how u choose your baits? cuzz u throw some weird shit!!!🤣🤣🤣 that was frickin funny shit man

Is there any bfs wake baits out there that you would recommend? Would the Karashi be one in that type of category? Thank you as always guys 🤘🍻
Karashi is a super dope bait! OSP makes the Over Real Wake and the Picro. - both are great BFS wakes.

Griff, what makes you go with a 2 piece rat over the 3 piece? Do you think it matters, or not so much?
They both have a lane. The 3 piece is louder, and the 2 piece is smaller. Just preference to what you need the bait to do!
What Ben said!
