- Exploring the Abandoned Paramount Theatre in Newark, New Jersey
The Paramount Theatre was built in 1886, during a time when vaudeville was the primary source of entertainment. It eventually closed down in 1986. An epic explore with @Freaktography!

Exploring is The Mission, Not a Competition!
Here's some history on that theater.
It opened in 1886, and when it was opened it was seen as a staple to Newark. When it opened it went under the name H.C Miner's Newark Theater. Hyde & Behman Amusement Co being the ones who managed it.
In 1916 management switched to one of Edward Speigel who also owned nearby Strand Theater. Speigel put renovations of the theater into the hands of Thomas W. Lamb, and when the renovations were finished in 1930 the theater was renamed to Paramount.
The theater saw it's final years in 1986, it closed due to skyrocketing insurance rates.
(And yeah, I lnow Jamie shared the info on his blog, just felt like restating it here).
Lol thanks!
Wow I definitely remember the red seats and coming with older family friends to watch karate flicks all day on Saturday. I also remember seeing Poltergeist, The Toy with Richard Pryor, and Sparkle with Irene Cara. Newark had so many theaters bit the only ones I remember were this Paramount, the Adam’s, and the Branford.
Wow....thank guys....for coming to newark...❤
You're welcome! Loved it there!
This place is so cool. I can only imagine the history it holds. I think standing where the seats are and looking around into the open would be pretty surreal feeling lol
wow! what destruction. Amazing it hasn't been demoed before this. Must have been quite an attraction at one time, it looks to be huge.
Yes...crazy decay at a very beautiful place. Thanks for watching!
Amazing! And unsafe! Glad y'all are ok.
Thank you!
Very impressive
Time for you and Freaktogaphy to get into renovation of the theater. RiddimRyder Photography and Freaktogaphy remodeling Company
We rather explore them!
Hi Jamie
This was a cool explore but I was worried about you and Dave’s safety. You guy’s take big chances going
to places like this. It must have been a nice theater in its time. Those seats have seen better days. This
was a cool epic adventure. Please be careful in these dangerous places. Stay safe and well. See you in
the next epic adventure.👍🆒. I’m glad the cops👮♂️didn’t see you guy’s in there.
Exploring that abandoned building looked dangerous. Thanks for going that extra mile to show us
you're welcome!
Very nice explore
Thanks a lot!
That place was crazy! That would have been an adrenaline rush just walking around there hoping that you didn’t have a floor give out or wall come down. Hope that you didn’t get into any asbestos. Thank you RR for another most epic adventure.
Yes it certainly was an adventure!
Happy Birthday to Freak PhotographyI and please have many more blessed birthdays in your life. Tell him for me.
I will tell him. Happy birthday @Freaktography

Thanks for watching!
Hi Jamie, glad you stayed safe! Newark is not the safest city. Awesome video, love when you 2 are together!🧡🏚🏘
Thanks! It felt safer than some of the other areas we were in!
Happy Birthday Dave. What a dangerous death trap. Should be demoed. Wow!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It's definitely dangerous!! The roof collapsed in 2020 due to heavy snow.
Thanks awesome video I enjoyed watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Thumbs up on the video Jamie 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! I do appreciate it!
You are welcome ❤️
Crazy
Yes! It was wild being in there! So sketchy!
@RiddimRyder I bet it was but that's awesome
the ceiling by the projection box has dropped some and looks like next to fall.. it was a clear line of sight to the stage at one time. that is why it looks so strange on the view to the stage..
Thanks for the info! Makes sense.
Wow that place must have been abandoned a long time ago. It’s a shame but I’m sure it would be expensive to demolish
It closed down in 1986!
@@RiddimRyderwow I was still in high school. Glad you two didn’t get hurt or caught by the police
Wow why is this place being allowed to still stand🤷♀️ when theaters were a thing😳😢
I sat in those seats with my dad.
Wow...that's cool
Surprised it's still standing, gotta be a prime chunk of property
Developer owned so demolition by neglect sadly.
What a wreck of a place
It's in rough shape
I am surprised that it is still standing
No kidding!
Did you know if they just recently closed or awhile if it’s still vacant or power in it is called vacant not abandoned
Oh yeah?
I'm watching your friends Carlos Paolozza on UA-cam Channel on my TV he Erbexing a moldy house.
Woohoo!
Is the 21st of May your birthday?
no....video was from March!
Oh darn I missed it
That is in really bad shape.
