As anything that involves the human nature, it is way easier said than done. Not that this is an excuse, nor a good coping mechanism, but wounds like this never fully heal. We learn to soothe the pain with the good memories, treasure the nice moments we had with that person, but a loss is a loss. I can only hope this man will learn that too in the long run

I remember seeing a short film about this concept. A man living on a Mars colony lost all of his family members to an unknown plague, so he used his incredible genius to design and build robots that looked and acted exactly like his family. And when a team came to rescue him and he left the planet, the robotic family created their own robotic man to replace him.

  • @CrispyMuffin2

This has chilling similarities to that one Watch Dogs Legion story line
In all seriousness, moving on is the healthiest option, even if its the toughest. Clinging onto something that cant truly be brought back with what we have just delays the inevitable, and talking with an AI designed to adapt to you and appear as someone else just keeps a mental scar open, especially when you know the actual persob is dead. It can even make you rely on that bot for mental stability, which can be dangerous if something makes it impossible to access that bot later on, whether its a powerful solar storm, computer or servers getting bricked maybe even a cyber attack. Its just so much to put on something thats not really alive and fragile as it is
I dont know what his wife would think, but if i died and knew someone were simulating me on a computer to cope, i wouldn't like it at all, especially because i never want people to 100% rely on me to stay healthy. They gotta take care of themselves when no one else can

(Keep in mind: I’m not a professional, but I do know a lot about the grieving process and some of it’s psychology.)
Doing things like this isn’t an uncommon coping mechanism. Having fake conversation with someone you’ve lost, as long as you’re aware it’s not 100% real, is a health way to deal with loss and is sometimes encouraged by professionals.
However, this story is a little different and I believe he does need professional help. He is obviously still struggling with the trauma even after 8 years.
That being said, I don’t like this video and some of the things said in it. This video comes across as ignorant, even though I know there was no ill intent by Optimus, and I’m worried it could negatively affect someone watching this video who is still in the grieving process. Of course you can feel free to call me a Snowflake in my reply’s for thinking that.
