@@MidoriChanOGhe might have picked Fey touch going by him eating that soul gem thing he already narratively mentioned (it’s been a month we might already know lol)
If you pause the video at 52:44, you get the finest shot of a giant Matt Mercer hand pointing towards Liam's inquisitive head, while Ashley appears to look concerned at the giant hand.
Seeing Orym, a man who always chooses kindness and compassion when he can, fight with himself over what he knows needs to be done and the things he knows he is willing to make the others do, is just heartbreaking. There was a point when the party was split and he gave Laudna the nod to end that guy, who's name totally escapes me at the moment, where it seemed almost like he was choosing to go back to war and he really hasn't been the same since.
Orym has always been willing to sacrifice everything to protect his tribe. He is also willing to sacrifice his team, and to recommend they sacrifice themselves.
Having not watched the episode yet, I know from experience that episodes whose names are just a proper name of something tend to be a climactic battle, culminating in that thing’s defeat. So I have to assume that in this episode Bell’s Hells are going to fight and kill the moon.
@@littleoldmanboy Luckily so, they already partially screwed up by revealing themselves (the whole point was to get to the moon with no one knowing you are on the moon). But since they did whisp out without being seen, maybe just maybe the enemy can think they went back (I forget how many actually saw them go up the portal)
HWAIT... if Laudna is DEAD...wouldn't she be POST menopausal? As in, no longer actively going through menopause? A situation colloquially known as "meno-stop" cause "EVERYTHING done stopped". Sorry, significant difference: as a health nerd with a specific fascination with (and vested personal interest in as these specific issues are in my near future) non-transitioned/ing AFAB health, I had to nit pick and be *that guy* HOWEVER...Joke still stands; *still funny af*. Here, take my like. 👍
I may be mistaken, as a cis woman in her 50s, but last I heard someone who's menopause is incomplete is perimenopausal. After 12 month without a period, you're in menopause. (Which has a misleading name, yes) There is no post menopausal. You're not going through it. You're in your final form.
The math suggests that Orym took the Tough feat, but it does not explain the +1 Int. Maybe he gets an additional Fey touched feat because of Nana Morri's deal?
Even still, an obvious door should have been part of Matt's description of the area right off the bat. You don't walk into an area and miss something like that.
Started this series in 2022 after a very bad breakup. Went on the Camino and hiked for two weeks straight to Santiago de Compostela in 2023. I had these guys with me in my ears all along the way. Today is the day I am finally caught up with all three campaigns. What a ride, what a journey.
Shame they completely forgot about Laudna's boyfrie- i mean, the Nightmare King. He's been up on the moon for some while now and are working with locals, would be a good place to start for intel.
@@Brion57042 That's perfect for flavor & her pickpocketing theme, yeah. I do hope she does pick Shield for her non Illusion/Enchantment school as it's probably the most impactful combat spell she could pick. 🤞
@@zTom_ I was thinking it was a great choice to round out her pickpocket flavor also. Shield would be an awesome pick, and for her enchantments/illusion spells I feel like she’s gonna go Disguise Self and Silvery Barbs those feel like the most Fearne picks!
It would be thematic if Fearne picked green flame blade as one of her cantrips (though she wouldn't get any int bonus to damage). Either way there are plenty of fun and useful wizard spells that don't rely on int, and she still gains the same amount of spell slots as if she'd taken a level of druid. Though, she's definitely going to win that pickpocketing competition now 😁
Don't know much about about D&D aside from what's in Baldur's Gate 3, but I'm surprised she didn't choose thief. She loves to steal stuff and she gets a second bonus action. I wonder what it was about Arcane trickster that she thought fit Fearne.
I started watching Critical Role after finally watching Vox Machina on prime. I started with campaign 3. This is the first episode I'm watching fully caught up as a new episode. I'm so excited to be here!!! While I was waiting for this episode, I started watching campaign 2. I have, of course, fallen in love with Jester. Thank you for your hours of entertainment, both inside and out of Critical Role. You are all amazing people and we critters, new and old, truly love you.
FINALLY!!!! The moment we’ve all been waiting for!! FCG can learn that he is wrong and that Exandria is not flat!!! Edit: Dang it I forgot that Exandria is just locked in place by Ruidus so he wouldn't be able to figure that out...at least in this episode.
Such great world building this episode. Super excited to see more. Orym’s attitude was a nice touch too. Love to see character growth/change in unexpected ways.
@@lgbtorion wow it's almost like not every character is a paragon of moral actions! In all seriousness though, it goes to show that these guys are really good at creating characters - the fact that there're people like you getting (understandably) annoyed by their actions shows that these characters are truly human, getting shouted at on the internet is impossible to avoid
"Be-queefed" is great because it sounds so much like the regular word, defo gonna try and slip that one next time I go to say "bequethed". (As long as it's not in the actual context of a loved one's will haha).
Just wanna say, I got caught up to episode 76 so I decided to watch the first campaign. I’m on episode 101 right now but I’ll definitely be watching these once I catch up. Y’all have inspired me to DM for my family (+6 players and we’re all new). Currently we’re on session 8 and it’s brought us closer together (I’m surprised how super into it everyone is) and it’s thanks to y’all. Hell they even binged watched Vox Machina before *I* could even finish it. I give my thanks to all of you!
The vibe of this episode was so good. So much joking and upbeat attitude from everyone across the entire table. Episodes like this are why I love critical role
15:29 If Chetney’s potentially Scanlan and Orym’s real dad, does that mean he could be Veth and Pike’s real dad too?!!! Is Chetney the father of all Critical Role shorties?!!!!!
I think the joke is that he is basically an evil santa’s elf, so he’s trying to craft this narrative that he worked with or knew every other short person in Crit role at some point. Or he just fucks.
2:46:51 When Matt said “some old-school folk do.” about Dork, I felt so loved. Lol. Been watching these folks since the beginning and they’re like old friends at this point. And it’s fun to be acknowledged like that.
My theory; the flares were created by the gods to slowly siphon predothos into nonexistence and Ruidus born are all fragments of predothos (obviously) some stronger than others (some brighter some darker in the scene of imogen connecting) and to wake predothos his followers have to bring as much of his power back to him as possible to give him the strength to break out of his cage and as a powerful exaltent imogen would be a huge leap forward instead of baby steps like weaker ruidus born which is why imogens mother and otohan wanted her so badly
My take is more that Predatos was able to send minute pieces of his essence through the divine lattice that keeps him prisoner, to progressively create more & more "agents" outside of it that could potentially find a way to free him. 🤔 The Ruidus born have actual pieces of him in them which explains the sort of hive network between all of them as their part of a whole?
She keeps stealing. Invisible Mage Hand, Lock Picking. Expertise. The Bonus Action: Disengage, Dash, Hide makes sense for how Matt runs combat at higher levels.
Nice! I think it took me about a year to catch up, although it took me a while to finish C1 because I got a critical role burn out because I watched so much lol.
This first part is genuinely distracting and exhilarating as a geologist. For Ruidus to have the same gravity as Exandria, some coool rock shit is happening subsurface... (Though we don't know the make up of Exandria to compare) ... 'red and purple slate' , hematite? ... Love this episode so much
Obsidian is common on many planets and moons. Sometimes due to meteor impacts - where the rock melts when impacted, and then of course due to volcanism. We don't yet have any evidence of volcanic activity or whether Ruidus is tectonically active (though Matt describes mountain ranges, which could be due to past or present tectonism). @@phoebegilliland8897
Yes, red dust could be indicative of iron in the soil or outcrops at the surface. But, he spoke about red flora too. So, could be organic material in the soil, etc. Very exciting :) @skylark7921
Honestly arcane trickster is alright on Fearne, especially it she picks spells where her Intelligence doesnt matter like disguise self, find familiar (friend for mister) or even shield
I feel the waves a’crashing red I feel tremors underneath I feel lands from rumors said I feel trembling shattered teeth I know the dormant moon beast hungers, With every red lost coast, I know our waning time grows younger, It awakens, Predathos.
41:31 Matt missed a perfect opportunity to counter FCG's 'flat Exandria' when he asked how darkness works, he coulda told him it's a flat circle of darkness.
Every time there's a Launda/Imogen bang joke, I can't help but think "But do they?" Because at the start of the campaign they both talked about how they haven't experienced much in the way of dating, and Launda was killed pretty young and was already a social outcast, and I can't imagine her years of being alone post-mortem gave her much experience either. I just imagine that between them both being a bit shy in many ways, as well as Launda's arrested development, and having no time to themselves (plus peeping Delilah), I just can't really see them having gotten that intimate. Then again, as an asexual, I often underestimate the horniness of people, so what do I know?
I feel like they'd be on the same level or have similarities to Fjord and Jester, since Jester was also rather secluded and only knew what she saw from her mother.
Eh, you don't need to be emotionally mature to have sex! Plenty of very immature people, chronologically or mentally (or both) figure it out. Not that I'm saying it's a good thing. It is better to wait until you're at least a bit emotionally mature. However, I don't think the arrested development aspect that's present in both of them would necessarily mean that they couldn't have. Especially since they were already very emotionally intimate before they became a couple.
The amazing thing about this episode is that Fearne still has the morphed "possum" still with her and I keep wondering, "what is going to happen if someone hits that possum and it returns into the monster it is...complete with screams of terror?" (while Fearne is hopefully laughing as she once more unleashes more chaos). Update: i have learned the possum died in the bag of holding.....poor possum.
@@tekakiuluy3221I dunno, after listening to all 3 back to back a few times, the cadence doesn't really follow "Love is All Around" as it does "Perception Check". Could be a different version of the song as I listened to the one by 'Wet Wet Wet' 🤷
I gotta say, for as hard as I bounced off of Liam's characters in the past, I'm all about Orym. Is he still a bit of a sad boi for my taste?? Yeah. But the way Liam portrays him is so endearing. The straight edge is oftentimes the boring 1 of the group. In this case he's the only thing that holds this group of jackoffs together. Just a soft spoken little halfling who's as quick with a sword as he is with a compliment.
Very much Captain America at times and others just a warrior trying his best and keeping his friends safe. Very down to earth type of character (pun intended... being short and all)
Possible Spoiler!! I think I cracked the case! I think I know Ludinus's plan. He's creating Ruidusborn, that's why he fixed the moon in the sky. Every newborn will be a Ruidusborn, and he is using the power of the Solstice to transmit the red energy of the moon to all the Nexus on the planet, creating a shit ton of Ruidusborn. That's why he tried to create Malleus Keys in the Fey and Shadow Realm, to increase even more. The moon only shows up in the Fey Realm after Fearne was created, and the unseelie tried to hide the moon. Ludinus is here for the long game. When he has enough Ruidusborn and Exaltant, he'll do the same thing he did when he created the bloody bridge, he'll use their essence to connect them to God Eater and wake it.
I love this, but it would mean his endgame is a few years away. I know he's waited for hundreds of years and can wait a few more. But the timing and pacing of the campaign feels like his endgame is much sooner.
2:34:35 I love how Matt's commitment to his world building means he can't lie to FCG about the "rotation" of the world. THE WORLD IS FLAT & FCG HAS SEEN THE PROOF! 😂❤
I immediately thought "Podlings!" when Matt was describing the moon person, so I was absolutely delighted when he confirmed that's indeed what they look like
If I'm not mistaken, they have realised they could have teleported out of the moon camp using the Staff - to teleport you must know the place and Fresh Cut Grass has seen the moon in Imogen's dreams multiple times, so it wouldn't have been a terribly hard roll (still dangerous though). However, by using Passwall he spent the charges needed to use the staff, so they cannot teleport for hours as for now.
I think it's that Sam can teleport the group using the staff since they have seen some place on Ruidus from the dream, but since he used it to passwall and make a hole in the wooden wall, it doesn't have enough charges for a teleport spell.
It's so funny how Marisha complains that she can't seem to roll starting with this campaign when she was stating exactly that throughout all of Mighty nein's campaign 😂
It should happen when the Players accomplish a goal and complete a Long Rest. Not sure why he picked when the Party was in Cloud form and traveling. Did not make sense to me.
1:44:55 I was really hoping Liam was gonna take a level of warlock based on Orym’s deal with Morri. I suppose he still could later but that would be so cool.
I love that now I can watch the streams live or on the Monday crew.... but I miss having literally hundreds of hours of content to play on every drive when I was in the Catch Up Crew. Guess I have to watch all the one shots now!
It's been 8 long months, but i finally FINALLY caught up with campaign 3 and boy what a journey! Thank you CR for the 8 month long serotonin boost! Now I only have to watch 3 candela obscures, 2 EXU and 2 seasons of midst... its fine 🐶🔥
I really recommend all of these ofc, but specifically ExU Calamity because it actually gives some v cool context for C3 and also is one of the most incredible pieces of story telling I've ever seen. (and ofc ExU prime gives some backstory for Fearne, Orym and Dorian)
@@thelesbeean3810 the first content I've watched on CR was actually ExU prime! It made me fell in love with the universe they created. I will def start with Calamity then. Thank you!
The talk of Imogen being The Messiah, or The Key, or some other form of The Chosen One I'm reminded of Sourcery, from Discworld A Ruidusborn daughter of a Ruidusborn, or a Ruidusborn Squared There could be something to that idea
Why do I feel like the moon is just Florida? I lived in Florida for a while and it’s always storming, the people from there are *interesting*, and when people come to visit they don’t know how to traverse (specifically on I4)
Ashley choosing something not optimal makes me more eager to know why she chose that and what she has prepared for Fearne. And remember, have fun with your builds. You don't have to always optimize.
A cool idea: If beasts of burden are introduced and they're running into the storm, just get under them for cover as they're moving. Also... there's so many tents and none of them are remembering Ryn. She could be in any one of those tents! XD
Matts description of the short creature, even though he said Podlings were the inspiration, made me think Rankin & Bass Hobbits. Short, thick fingered, round faces with big eyes underscored by deep smile-line wrinkles...if the thing pulled out a pipe to calm its nerve and ask them inside for a Ruidian cuppa I wouldnt be upset. Though the same could arguably go for Podlings too. Earthy, homey, warm and welcoming.
2:48:10. You don't need to destroy a bag of holding to empty out its contents, just turn it inside out, which makes everything inside fall out unharmed.
I actually had a clever (at least I thought so) trap based around that. Players find a bad guy's bag of holding, they turn it inside out, and an object with a ward on it set to go off when it hits the ground falls out. Not enough to kill, just enough to hurt and use up healing resources for the rest of the location.
The way both Sam and Travis decided that the only way to manage Marisha's gnarly burp was to eat it says a lot, and you'd think it'd say bad things but it doesn't.

The Ruidus born have actual pieces of him in them which explains the sort of hive network between all of them as their part of a whole?

🎶 IT’S TUESDAY MORNING 🎶
I immediately thought "Podlings!" when Matt was describing the moon person, so I was absolutely delighted when he confirmed that's indeed what they look like
What was Sam discussing with everyone about how he screwwed up? Around 59:20
