I bought my 2024 4Runner SR5 last week. I stumbled onto this video just today. So thankful I did! It’s the best tutorial I could have hoped for. I was convinced I would learn nothing I didn’t already know. I was wrong about that! Thanks for this excellent tutorial!!
This is one of the best walk-through videos I've watched. Brilliant as I watched the ENTIRE video from beginning to end. I hope you continue making videos like this for all vehicles because the monetization potential is huge!
This video was so informative, I get everyone says read the manual but I’m a visual learner. see it, do it, understand it kind of person, and this video answered a lot of my questions on buttons I may not use on my daily commute but may need in certain situations. Thank you for uploading this.
I just went from a 2015 to 2021 4 Runner SR5 with new bells and whistles and this video was awesome! Thank you for helping me get to know my new baby!!
From 2019 jeep Sahara to 2023 4runner premium is like night and day. 4runner in my opine is a no brained, no wind noise, comfort fearures but ready for off road adventure. Many thanks for going over all the controls, getting ready now for 6200+ summer road trip starting in June 2024.
Thank you sir very very good viedo of the 4Runner features. I am 69 years young and not that well versed in all this computer stuff. I just bought a 2024 Runner SR5 premium and this info is really helpful so much that I have saved it👍. I have a lot to learn this is a far cry from any vehicle I have ever driven😅.
I’m an avid UA-cam video watcher and I would argue this to be the best/most informative video I’ve ever watched. I already loved my 4Runner, now I’m just head over heels for it. Thanks Brian!
Thank you so much for this very informative video. I just purchased a 2024 TRD Off Road Premium however this video is still 98% relevant and was terrific. So comprehensive and helpful; so much better than reading the manual three times like I did. Really appreciate the tutorial.
Just bought the 23 4 Runner. This helps me SO much because I have never owned a vehicle either so many "bells and whistles". Will be watching this several more times. Thank you
Thank you, I just went out and changed my auto locks to NOT unlock going in to park. You made a very good point about that. Thank you. Looking forward to watching again to learn some more stuff'
@@brianruperti Ok Brian, watched some more of your video (small bits over time) it's a lot of information to take in. Again it's greatly appreciated. I have a SR5P with apple car play, I just don't get the hype. Seems like it's all the same with Bluetooth. My question is, I notice when I do have the phone plugged in to car play and I hit the steering wheel but to give a commmand ( call Joe) , it reads " connect a phone"? It's already connected. I have to use the screne. To me that's more of a hinderance
Excellent tutorial-- Thank you! We just purchased a 2022 Limited and I'm amazed how much tech has evolved from my 2000 4Runner-- which we still own with 260K+ miles. Happy driving!
Been trying to find a quick 4wd explanation for my 2020 sr5 premium and EVERY SINGLE video is 14 minutes long and the first 12 minutes the camera is on some guys face. Thanks for making this. THIS is how you make an explainer video - I simply scrolled to the part where you discuss the 4wd. Thanks.
The thing I love about the 4 Runner is you can use the touchscreen and buttons. Nothing else comes close when you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. You just use your thumbs and memorize navigating through through that menu. can’t really say the same for others that I’ve rented which is so overwhelming and constantly having to take my eyes off to navigate through. Especially when the touchscreen on certain models doesn’t want to get pressed on the first time. SIMPLICITY WINS!
Just bought a 2024, most (if not all) of the controls are the same. There were 2 specific buttons that I didn't understand the functionality of, but your video answered everything beautifully. Thanks man!
My salesperson seemed to know that if you put it in 'drive' it went forward, and if you put it in 'R' it did something else. That was the extent of their knowledge. I still went ahead and bought it because it was a Toyota. I have never regretted it.
Good job, though a little quick going through all of that screen stuff. On the other hand, with the knowledge you offered, spending some time going through all the selections should clear up most of my questions.
Thank you so much Brian I really enjoy the video everything was so loud and clear thank you so much, I have a question how come on my 4 runer. I seen you gas gauge miles per gallon left you had about 347 miles left when I fill up my tank I only have 274 miles range how come?
Thanks for watching! The range number you mentioned is diff for each truck depending on its average fuel economy. If you’ve averaged 14mpg mostly, it’ll be lower. If you average 19-20mpg, the number will be higher. Hope that helps.
Great video! I was specifically looking for the lock customization feature and couldn’t get the Vehicle settings icon to work, you have to double press the push button to access that option. Hope it helps someone else 👍
Your video was extremely useful. Thank you. I Don’t know if I missed it or not bu how do you turn on the parking assist sensors in the 2022 4 runner limited.
@@brianruperti thank you for your response. I don’t have a P button & forgive me but where is the MID & how do I find it. The dealer never went over any of these things with us when we bought the vehicle & my husband passed away. I don’t know where any of these setting are. I appreciate all your help.
Great video, thank you. Just got a 2022 4Runner SR5. Question, does the on board navigation stay with me or is a trial that I have to subscribe to after a period of time?
Thanks. 2023 4Runner. This helped a lot. I have the Limited and there is one button that didn't show up on your video. It's to the bottom right of the steering wheel and shows like air is blowing on the steering wheel. I'm thinking it's some sort of cooling feature for the steering wheel. Disappointed that the 2023 didn't have a wireless access to Apple & Google and that the tailgate wasn't automatic.
Hmm is it on the wheel? Or on dash. The wireless will be next gen and power hatch they don’t do because the glass goes down into the hatch and it alters the weight distribution, which could stress a lift motor. But I understand why you’d want it. 4Runner is true to its simplicity. But I hope you love your truck.
What will light up on the Dash when A Trac is engaged? Also when disengaging from 4WD LO should it disengage instantly or do you have to drive 10 - 20 ft and here it clunk out?
You will see ATRAC on the speedo display, to get out of 4Lo, just stop, go into 4Hi, then pick your gear, or go right to 2WD and pick your gear and go, should Pop out of 4Lo within seconds even if you’re still. Sometimes it might need a couple feet.

I have a question. Can you shift from 2 high to 4 low. Like if you are parallel parked and need to have the traction because you're not able to get out because of the snow or ice. basically I hope that my question is clear can you go into neutral and then shift from 2H to 4L and then once you get out of the spot that you are stuck in you go into neutral again and shift back to 4H. Or is that not possible. That's the reason why I purchased this. I don't really want the 4 wheel drive on all of the time as with the AWD systems. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me .
Yes you would stop, neutral, 4H or 4Lo, then when you’re out, go to 2H for all other driving. Never drive the 4runner in 4x4 unless you’re in slippery conditions like snow, mud, dirt, sand etc.
Hi. I been leaving comments on diff videos about how I can turn off the air coming from the rear. I have 2019 limited. I can turn off all the air in the front seat but I can’t find a way to turn off the air that is constantly on coming from the back seat vents. Please help. Thank you 😅 It’s not in the manual.
@@brianruperti Hi! I tried that the other day but there’s still air coming through but I just closed the vent and didn’t know I can turn it to lock past close. I will try that. Thank you so much for your reply. Have a great day!
I wonder if you could help me with something. I just bought my 2022 4runner (it used t be a rental vehicle). When I go to the app menu on the screen in the car, they are all dull and inactive. I wonder if the prior owner somehow deactivated these apps and what I can do to turn them on. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
The apps on the app menu are greyed out because you either haven’t activated the subscriptions for them (remote, wifi) or they aren’t available on your vehicle.
Hello, Brain.... - your video covering the 4RUNNER Buttons was VERY INFORMITIVE thank for that. Now, you have might've covered this & i just didn't realize - BUT when driving either early morning/evening the radio display tends to be a little BRIGHT/HARD ON THE EYES ( HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS ??? )
Hey thanks for watching. Try this Menu>settings>display>brightness>*turn down* Then also on the left of the dash or on the trip stalk you can lower the gauge brightness which also lowers the screen brightness more!
