  • You can spend the whole afternoon at Gage Roads (gageroads.com.au), there's so many kid-friendly amenities. I love how actually a lot of places in Perth provide free sunblock. The genius of the playground is that it is so deceptively simple, just a real car and a real boat, but a lot of thought must actually have been put into making it safe and user-friendly, because my 3 year old and 1+ year old were able to play independently for hours with minimal supervision. Captain Edith and Captain Emmanuelle slept really well that night.
The next place I highly recommend is The Old Courthouse (oldcourthouse.com.au). You'd think it's a historical building and doesn't sound particularly kid-friendly, but they have a huge field, sandpit, giant jenga and Connect 4, hula hoops, bowling... Family rotisserie chicken meal with a side of broccoli ticked the nutrition boxes and pizza is always good for morale.
Here are the rest of the places we tried. Food-wise I was not blown away, and these are not exceptionally kid-friendly, but all were pleasant experiences. In King's Park, which I talked about in this video, is Zamia Cafe (www.zamiacafe.com.au), close to a huge playground, so you can spend the whole day at the park and refuel here.
We found this hole in the wall, Little Loaf Lunch Bar (www.broadsheet.com.au/perth/s..., which turned out to be an award-winning bakery. They have lots of delicious pastries, and massive banh mi.
Roasting Warehouse (roastingwarehouse.com.au/loca...) should be good for coffee fans. We had breakfast there.
There is a cluster of restaurants in the Sardine Jetty area which is very pleasant. Emmanuelle enjoyed chasing seagulls outside Kaili's (kailis.com/fremantle/), which had good lobster and which was actually more crowded than the more famous Cicerello's next door when we went.
Also at Sardine Jetty, you could check out this brewery just so you can say "I brought my Little Creatures to Little Creatures". (littlecreatures.com.au)
