wonnerfull ... I need to spend more than I have for a time grapher ...
With my "luck" (or lack thereof) the regulator arm adjustment won't be enuf. (hasn't been to date.)
I suspect the hair spring isn't correct any more. (watch is only 139 years old. who nose if it is original or a replacement, when it was replaced, and if the correct size, and if the balance is properly aligned, for that matter.
I also suspect the original(?) main spring has taken a set. A full wind lasts just 18 or 19 hours, not 30 +/- hours.
I also lack the knowledge, skills, tools, and lubes, to service and repair it as necessary.
"Someday" when or if I have the funds, Isle send it to a watchmaker.
In the meantime, only wear and use it on special occasions, like when I wear a kilt, or participate in a Civil War Reenactment or a Buck Skinner Rendezvous portraying sometime in the 1800's fur trade/trapping era, or I get planted. (It IS"Going With Me" to the next "life", along with a few other things.)
It is key wined/set, so is proper ... although the case is German Silver rather than Gold.
    Question:
If/When I send it in, would it be possible to have the case gold plated? I don't know if German Silver/Nickel Silver/White Brass can be gold plated.
    Watch is an 1885 Elgin 18S (17 J) Grade 78, H.H. Taylor pocket watch. 🥰
Regardless of if repaired and serviced or not, I'm taking it (with the original(?) early replacement(?) key) with me. 😇👍

@@stevehuffman7453 that is one long message, my friend. I think just keep it the way it is use it occasionally and then take it with you when you go.
