When even failures are celebrated. That's an indication of the immense confidence the youthful team of engineers that SpaceX has put together have. To undertake this gigantic ambitious project and not be faced by a $100M failure and see it as a learning experience?
SpaceX's team momentum at this point is just, already unstoppable. With a clear understanding that every attempt made is a step forward.
Everything is seen progress.
Attempting to achieve something unequaled by others in the race. SpaceX is so far ahead of everyone else in this field. There's just simply No Space Race. Noone is even close or even in the same league.
SpaceX has the exact same young talent with a positive can-do mentality that the Apolo program had 60 years ago, whom would eventually succeed at reaching their then, "seemingly impossible goal".
By now, it's just a matter of time. It's not "if" but "when" they will reach orbit with a privately made largest rocket in human history.
Although you have to wonder why they sound like a bunch of frat morons yelling in the background 🤷

@@maynardfrench5418 NASA is partnering with several U.S. companies to advance small spacecraft and launch vehicle and space station technologies that are on the verge of maturation and are likely to benefit both NASA and the commercial space market. Nasa no longer has to pay the big money.
It has offered contracts to private companies to develop specific technologies. And given them small amounts of money as a down payments for these contracts.
Many of these companies hire the very best in their fields. This also creates competition in the space industry.

In the beginning SaceX was always bragging about how they don't need taxpayer money. Now they are blowing up $100 million dollars of which part was funded by the taxpayer and we are supposed to celebrate that? Sound like we need some better engineers at SpaceX or no more taxpayer money.
Totally agree with all you said. Where some see failure, others see potential. Besides, that why it's called a "test" launch/flight. If anything is gonna go wrong, now is the time. I love the excitement space x employees have. That's what is needed, that's how things progress.

The comments are comical. Do the naysayers here not understand these are expected results? Each launch is is new territory...we've never been here before. The next launch will be incrementally better, with more data recorded. Eventually these launches will be as routine as the falcons.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 is the USA's workhorse for space flight, with 84 launches this year and with reusable boosters than land themselves. You can talk your trash about Starship. But, all 33 raptor engines ignited and stayed on until the hot staging cycle as planed. The booster did self destruct instantly as it should have. A total success. All 6 Starship raptors fired and stayed lit until it was in space. It also self destructed as it should have. Another total success for a test rockets 2nd flight. All this in little over 1 year. No rocket company or country can compete with the success of SpaceX. Period.

@@maynardfrench5418 Sure. Saturn V is a retired American super heavy-lift launch vehicle developed by NASA for human exploration of the Moon. It was flown from 1967 to 1973 and used for nine crewed flights to the Moon, including Apollo 11 and Skylab. Key word "retired". And still holds the record for heaviest payload of 311,000+ lbs. And, As of 2023, the Saturn V remains the only launch vehicle to have carried humans beyond LEO. One heck of a rocket. SpaceX has the rest of the records that does not include going past LEO, including most satellite's in 1 payload, 420+ in Jan 2023.

An unforeseen disassembly that could have been avoided had they thought of safety over the mission window.
I’ve seen safety numbers like 10e-3 to 1 in 73 catastrophic for the shuttle.
It is not a no-risk venture. Solid booster failures seemed to account for lowering the safety numbers (increasing probability).
SpaceX needs to spend more time thinking about what could go wrong and addressing those items instead of finding it out for the first time during maiden launches.

Their 3rd flight has changed the ship to an electric TVC, and today both vehicles completed a static fire of its engines, which all 33 fired just like booster 9 this flight. This next flight will be targeting fuel transfer between main tanks and header tanks, which also they think the booster will make it past re entry, same for the ship

We stopped using nuclear propulsion in atmosphere after we discovered that it left a massive cloud of radiation in its wake and we can’t even sustain fusion on earth with millions of tons of concrete and electromagnets fusion power for spacecraft is bare minimum a century away

Yes by design, to ensure safety and included obtaining the relevant data stream during separation, which was the primary goal of this flight. Other flight parameters including relighting first stage and second stage trajectories and learning curves were being explored and will provide invaluable tools to progress. 100% success in my book. Enjoy the process.
It’s not that SpaceX engineers aren’t learning anything, it’s just that there had never been a Saturn V explosion before…ever. Maybe it’s a different way to think today?
NASA blew up plenty of Saturn V engines and at least one booster on the stand. Engineers figured out the flaw in the F-1 and corrected it.
Also plenty of rockets blew up on the way to the Saturn 5 and like the other commenter said plenty of engines blew up before they figured out the combustion instability issues

Space is hostile but not totally empty. While Elon will probably try to use this as an ego boost its not for nothing. Satellites provide internet to remote parts of the world where education, food and medicines is harder to reach.

All would not be possible if it wasn't for tech research and rocket propelled vehicles to space.
