I love this song. Brings tears to my eyes. For those that said God's love is not reckless I agree. However in the context of this song the word reckless is more figurative than literal.
He described God's love as reckless because God loves him despite him not deserving it and despite him being a "foe" to God and being a lost sheep. Really listen to the words of the song.
So in other words in his personal walk with God he feels God's love is reckless to love him because he feels unworthy. As people when we fall in love with someone who continues to do us wrong one might say we are crazy or even stupid or blind to still love and pursue that person. So this song is just a spin on that concept.
