It's almost the end of September and no good news yet. I went there a week or two after this video and the store was half empty. Been going here since I was a kid. Hoping for a miracle. 🙏
Popular Awrey's Bakery preparing to close in Livonia 2135pm 7.8.23 sooooooo sad. i have found baking yer own piles on the pounds, though.... p.s there's nowt (i.e: nothing) wrong with your bakery...
I remember when Morley and Sanders were considered premium quality. It was a special treat to sit with my mother at the Sanders ice cream counter to enjoy a hot fudge cream puff.
It was the 1960s in Detroit. Dad would leave well before sun-up every morning to pick-up his big brown truck filled with Awrey baked goods and begin his daily delivery route. Sometimes, he would bring the truck home and allow my sister's and me to select a baked good for our family. Our parents had little income, so this was a rare and special treat.
My dad worked there for 23 years until the first major buy back before almost closing. I remember him getting up early and I even took a field trip there as a kid. Hell I even met Gordie Howell there when he was promoting his book. Cool af but this is really sad to see. Very sad
Just sad!!! 😢😢😢😢

Another small business bites the dust. Can't survive in this economic environment
Nope. Rotten shame.
Everything is closed or closing...bring back the 80's
Hopefully, the company who bought Morley chocolates and Sanders can buy this place. Be optimistic. They have been great over the years.
If someone buys it will most likely be just for the brand name and shut the plant down.

This place has been here in my city for my whole life. Really hurts to see them go.... IF they do close up shop.
Those bumpy cakes are excellent. I hate to see it go.
