Awesome playing. Just completed Normal, 1 hit death mode, with perks and about to start the hard 1 hit death mode. Agree with what you wrote. Some parts are awkward to deal with, though I have not mastered the bosses yet at all. Should be fun with no checkpoints in hard mode.
Ive been sticking with homing missles in both slots, whenever I can get them. I set the right bumper to auto fire so it keeps cycling between the two weapons. This is a way to output alot more damage. I believe the character Browny does even more damage with this set up. Still, I personally don't like how this game looks like virtually glorifying Contra Returns, but the entirety if the gameplay convinces me to forgive that matter. Also 13:41 visible oh shet moment.
I beaten this game yesterday, it was fun but had some annoying flaws: 1) I play it on PC and the lack of graphic options are just annoying and stupid. No V sync, you gonna do some keyboard combo to shrink the screen, can't brighten up the screen, etc. Also the game is kinda buggy whenever you try to skip certain cutscenes. 2) The new music is really trash just like you said. 3) Alot of stuff blend in with the background too much. The enemie's bullets being whites is just dumb, they should had made it colorful like Contra 3, 4, etc. Contra level 2 weapon being used by Bill, Lance, Browny, etc. make it extra hard to see things with those big black holes. 4) I don't know what Konami beef is with Jaguar but come on! Stop hating on him & put him in more games. He is the coolest Contra character ever! I just beat the story mode and didn't bother to unlock the extra characters. LOL@Browny being the best like he was in Hard Corps.
I agree that there's visibility issues. It would probably be better if the bullets were a bright yellow like they are in previous games, and maybe a little bigger too. And yeah the lack of options on PC is disappointing, but I do appreciate being able to play with an unlocked framerate. It feels great at 4K/120fps or 2K/240fps for me.
finally, ive been waiting for someone with a god run. Also wanted to add that I agree with you on the autoscrollers. I wouldnt mind if they were this long but there is next to no variety in whats happening. Shattered soldier had level 2 autoscroller and every train segment had something new and interesting to fight. Here your just killing waves of the same enemy for 10 minutes. Definitely the weakest part of the game for me
1:27: Oh god, they actually kept that stupid waiting sequence from the demo. I was really hoping that these pointless sequences would be skippable or omitted in the final game. It's like 20 seconds of just waiting for the helicopter to crash.
The gameplay looks decent-ish, but I honestly can't get past the art direction (or lack thereof). The visuals look so plastic, the designs are the umpteenth recycling of Contra 1 with none of the cool body horror of previous games, and the girls AREN'T wearing bikinis. Blasphemy. The lack of anything NEW character or setting design wise (or even music) was one of my nitpicks with GnG Ressurections, but at least that game looked super attractive and had some interesting reinterpretations of the classic cast and setting. This just looks really bland and I'm at a point in my life where some sense of passion and creativity in other parts of a game besides just the level design really matters to me. Also has no right to be expensive as is. Wayforward historically has no marketing sense and making the price as high as it is is probably gonna kill this attempt at a "reboot" in the cradle.

I do agree with Browny being the easiest character to use. I think Lucia is def the weakest character on the list. Looking forward to more good runs
@@p6mkq No double jump, spread is the weaker variant for stage running. The player has to be precise when playing as her. It also makes some easy boss fights way harder than they need to be due to no double jump. idk. I always play on 1 hit kill mode but for those who don't she has 3 health bars. I also feel grapple is a situational option in the game
@@MegaYoYo Personally Lucia is one of my favorites to play as. Yeah no double jump may suck but honestly it's not that bad. She has a dash which allows air dashing and that's more important to me than double jump as I don't really play characters without dash(unless they have hover). Her spread may not be the best but when powered up it does good enough damage and it's charge shot can be strong and destroys enemy bullets as well. The grapple is actually very useful, not only in multiple sections of stages to get through them faster and safer(like on stages 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8) but also against bosses like Kimkoh, Beowulf and Varanis as I can fight those hard bosses easier with grapple and being on the ceiling in those fights helps dodge most of their attacks easier(mainly against Beowulf and Varanis). Grapple is honestly a life saver on stage 8 in those acid sections. I would argue Ariana is one of my least favorites to play as for multiple reasons. Lack of dash really sucks in various situations and against bosses. She's limited in mobility, her slide isn't that useful in most cases, slide is pretty much useless on the bike stages(while dash is extremely useful) and you could actually slide into enemy bullets on accident (definitely if you do an air to slide move). And her crush is one of the worst due to lack of range, having to get close to bosses that would be harder to hit with it which leads you open to their attacks and it's powered up version lacks the black holes which is by far the strongest weapon and the most useful one in the entire game. Plus having only 2 health bars and no actual advantages to other characters means she will be hard to play as for most people.

Awesome gameplay as always...but the game is a joke of a Contra. Like playing an Android game. Quick cash grab from Wayforward! Contra 3, Hard Corps, Contra 4... these are true old school Contras! Blazing Chrome and Iron Meat are the new standards.
I would add Hard Corps Uprising to the list. That's the only proper modern-styled I approve. Additionally I would add Super Cyborg which was the true savior of true old school Contra when the original Contra ceased being good.

Browny's H weapon(which is the same as Fang) is the most OP in the game, stronger than everyone else's so it destroys enemies/bosses quickly. But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if the devs patch this game. Although the H weapon is helpful on the Extreme difficulties due to more enemies on screen and bosses having way more health(like literally double the amount of health).
I mean, it's about as hard as you want it to be. Extreme Ultra, especially with the worst character, is going to be much harder than any previous Contra. Shattered Soldier is still a better game of course.

Browny is probably one of the few characters that can handle Extreme Ultra well enough. But that is true for previous Contra games as I played those too and can handle them well but the Extreme difficulties in this one are going to take some time for me to beat.
Looks like the localizations (including the Probotectors) have finally come to an agreement.
Wayforward's previous Contra game, Contra 4 had a playable Probotector as well, though it was a post-game unlock.

Couldn't say, I still haven't tried GnG Resurrection. I do like Galuga a lot though.
