So happy to find this video. My HP 6055 is still sitting in the box, but now I feel confident that setting it up on my HP Chromebook will be a breeze. Thank you so much for a complete step by step tutorial. Many of these types of videos leave important stuff out, because the people making the video are tech savvy and find it difficult to do a complete step by step.
This Video was extremely helpful for someone that is tech Savey.I had to watch this at least 5 times before I could attempt to set up the printer. The illustration was clear, and concise. I have bought and returned 3 printers, because I did not know how to set then up to do wireless printing, OMG. Once I got this printer online I felt like a new person. it was even stressful trying to follow the instructions on this Video. This is a very nice printer.Thank you so much. ♥
Thank You, excellent video. My neighbor just gave me this new printer, he assumed it was a plug and play, as most printers seem to be, especially with an Imac. After an hour talking to hp, downloading the app, it just became too much of a head ache! It would not connect to his wifi, again and again he tried. He was going to destroy it on a video and upload to youtube. He offered it to me, I skipped the wifi and did a wire connetion, followed your video, hp must have noticed it was plugged in and skipped that part, thankfully. It said it was ready to print now, I haven't tried but that's next, it should be ok. many thanks.
I just want to thank you for such a complete installation guide. This was so helpful. I was successful in setting up my PC, my Mac, and all my phones to this printer and it was even a different printer, a HP envy 6052. You did an awesome job! Thanks!!!😄
Thanks so much for this tutorial. My first wireless printer and was anxious about setting it up but found you on UA-cam and so glad I did. Unboxed, switched it on, put cartridges in, followed along with your instructions and although my laptop was really slow at installing the HP software I managed to get everything working as it should, along with connecting to my mobile. One happy silver surfer able to print again. Huge thank you.
Thank You! I’ve been trying to hire someone to come out to my house and hook up the wireless printer because I am disabled and cannot see very well but thanks to you I did it all by myself! May your new year be the best ever!
I need to know that also! Only way I see to do it, is to scan your image into a file first. Then go to App & open the file, make any adjustments, then print. But if you need more than 1 copy of something that doesn’t need scanning normally, there are no number buttons on printer itself, you have to go to App again, & then you can choose number of prints you need. Sure seems time consuming to me. I love HP, but give me the little digital screen back instead of having to go get a device, open App & figure out how to get copies! If there is a shorter way, I’d sure love to know about it!
Your instructions are very clear. HOWEVER; before I unbox this, can you tell me if it has (or can you buy) an attachment for multiple sheets? Likewise for a tray to catch the printouts?
@@Reviewlamp Thanks for answering so quickly (I've had to wait days for some). Yes, I saw the output tray when I watched your review after asking the question. I still haven't unboxed it, but I didn't see an input tray, which I like, because I often have more than 1 page that needs to be copied at a time. Do you have a "workaround" when you need to do multiple pages?
I really loved your video. Seeing that the directions that came with the printer are really not too clear you made it look easy. Thank you for sharing your knowledge it really made the process much easier to get the printer up and running. The last time I had to install a printer was 8 years ago. I really loved that HP printer that lasted that long if I can get half that out of the new one I would feel fortunate. It just seems like the new ones have a little too much high tech in them. I did not even realize that the screen is no longer on the printer. It's amazing that you now have to do everything from a phone or a computer. Again thank you.
Can you print directly from online to the printer or do you have to download the file first then send the file to the app or pc first? Also, can you print from a tablet?
@@Reviewlamp Does this go into sleep mode? Does one have to turn the printer back on physically before printing anything say in a day or 2 later after being left on?
Thanks! This was helpful. Is there a way to just hardwire the printer into the computer so I don't have to rely on wifi? I like the printer, but I am always having connection issues and often my document won't end up printing until the next day.
Hi, I’ve had my printer for quite some time now, but this is the first time I need to replace the ink. The first time I tried to open it, I couldn’t. Hi. And what to do when printer is set-up on one computer, and I need to connect to another one or two, and then also connect to another devices like iPhone and Android smartphone ? Still running through the setup process ? On all devices ? Or it is enough to log-in into HP account ? Or skip and let the HP software search the (home) network for printers and when already is one set-up it only adds this without setting it up ? And when to be used into another network (moved to another house = another wifi), what then ? New set-up ? Thank You.
For phones or tablets: once a printer is setup on one computer it will be found by all devices on the network. For Macs and PCs you will have to set up the printer on each individual computer but it will be much easier since the printer is already connected to your home wifi network
Thank You. When I come across this situation by one client which bought this device and has gived up at a half way to successful setup (and E9 error warning) I will reply how it was difficult to reset the device and re-setup it again and connect to more devices... Perhaps all troubles came from the fact, that the client most likely doesn't ended the setup procedure correctly (print calibrating image and scan them never has been done) - so the printer remained in wrong state - and if We know, that resetting to default state is possible only when buttons are pressed by opened printer body... well, this was little sh*t from HP because You can overlook this important fact by reading the manual very quickly... Just curious Why do you have to use “Bluetooth” when setting up the printer on an iPhone? I was under the impression communication from the iphone to the printer was thru your home wifi? Thanks Bob
Yes, you are correct. But during setup the HP app asks for access to your phone’s Bluetooth for some reason. I am assuming it uses Bluetooth to locate the printer that hasn’t been set up yet.
Do you HAVE to use the HP app on your computer? My firewall won't allow me to install that app, but will the laptop be able to print directly using the USB 2.0 cable?
Nice coverage... addresses issues that HP doc is sorely missing especially for those with little to no experience. The issue I encountered when I recently bought the HP 6056e Envy which appears to be very similar to the 6055 setup wise was that I use a Linux distro and there is no HP Smart version other than Windows and MAC ... seems like a big miss for HP on this point. However, I was able to set it up from my cell phone (android) and then connect to it from my computer via USB and this solution went smoothly for printing. The next hurdle dealt with using the scanner. Unlike any other scanner I have ever used you can not just use a d/l driver for the scanner (I had replaced an HP1510 that had one). No, you had to use HP Smart meaning I had to use my phone to initiate a scan and then get the result on my phone and send it to my computer! Ridiculous! I had printed out using the control panel the printer status data that showed the url address for the printer and used that through my computer browser to access the printer built-in web page. This allowed me to do a scan. It also required me to enter the printer's PIN# which was also on the status report before a I could start a scan session. That was a little cumbersome but at least I could access it all from my computer and do multi-page scans in one session. The pdf generated got saved in my Document folder and I was good to go. My take away is that HP has made it very difficult to use this printer if your computer is Linux based. It escapes me why they would exclude a sizable market sector from being able to use their product while supporting 3 other OS choices.
I'm a teacher and I'm looking to purchase on of these for my classroom. I don't see a rear input tray. Would I be able to put avery labels through the printer without it or do you think it would get stuck?
Can it be used from different wifi networks? I have main wifi in my living room, but my daughter have another wifi in her room. Can we all use the same printer?
No. You begin printing from your iPad as well, since the printer is now set up on your home network. Your iPad simply needs to be connected to this home wifi network as well

just bought this printer. It is connected to my laptop but when I inserted the ink cartridges and closed the lid it flashes an E for error. I don't know what I have done. I have tried reinserting the cartridges etc., but nothing works. Pease help!
very useful thx.
Thanks! Glad it helped
am I to assume that everything you tell me to do is done for me on the screen as it appears it is?
I don’t understand your question
@@Reviewlamp I am 82 and was having no trouble following your video until you got to the part about installing Smart software. It was moving along too fast for me. Can I just go to the App Store and download it then follow those instructions?
Hi, sorry on the part that you search for your printers name on hp smart, my pc can’t seem to find my printer. What should I do?
Try connecting it to your wifi network using your smartphone and the HP smart app. Then try the windows setup and it should work.
