Poor Agnes, still seeking justice for her torture and murder. Remember all the women who died unjustly and forgotten for practicing the healing arts😢
A lot of men were accused and tried as witches , aswell . It wasn't just women . And most of them weren't healers either , that's a fallacy .
That last line inspired me:
As evening falls and shadows dance
I dare not take a second glance
For fear of what I’ll see
It’s not like you or me
It watches; I feel it
But I won’t flee it
So, go ahead and boo
This is my home now, too

Love this!
Me too!
Was at Holyrood my last day in Edinburgh for my last trip back in July, because it had been a while since I'd last visited. I was surprised how many of the tourists were ignoring Rizzio's blood stain. I was just standing staring at it.
I'd love to visit when it's quiet. night, and not mobbed with tourists.
Me too. We'll go together and scare the wits out of each other! xx
When I went, the ante blood stained room was roped off. The host turned away to do something and I went under the rope and looked around. Host told us that the stain was not blood, but it sounded good. They are all on my ancestry tree.
What a multilayered story.. that would take some work..thankyou eerie
Yeah, yeah! sad about Agnes, but that tall, dark handsome military guy intrigues me!!!! lol (oh, and happy Halloween.)
Yeah, i wonder who he was. Happy Halloween to you to 🎃
No one knows maybe get a spirit box and ask him
Holyrood is a wonderful structure. What happened to Agnes and all the unfortunate women tried as "witches" is tragic and especially maddening is that it was all at the hand of a privileged superstitious male authority figure. The murder of Rizzio shows what jealousy will do. I understand that seeing a reflection of someone in a window who isn't physically there is startling, but I wouldn't consider it frightening, unless it was trying to do me harm. It is actually rather comforting to know that intense emotions leave a lasting impression on the surroundings so that terrible happenings will not be forgotten, although that is of little comfort to those they happen to. I wish you a Happy Halloween! 🎃🎩🖤👻🧡
Happy belated Halloween to you too! (Busy few days!).
It’s Holyrood. It means Holy cross.
Omg, omg, it's ridiculous how excited I get at another new episode of E.E. That just speaks to the level of brilliance in your video's though my friend. Thank you for the ghostly tales x
Simply a gorgeous tale😊. Awesome
We were unlucky during our brief stay in Edinburgh before moving on, as to not being able to tour Holyrood House. The flag was up, indicating a member of the Royal Family was staying there. I'm glad you've got a few interior photos here to show us.
Simply Brilliant , a well researched and Nitrated video yet again , History brought to life of a Beautiful fairytale castle and the dark ghost 👻 stories impeccable. Please please keep them coming your videos are fast becoming the best on u tube well done 😘

@@eerieedinburgh aww fab sounds good 👍 I can’t wait to see them xxx
Enjoyed the ghostie stories of Holyrood Palace. It's many year's since my visit there but I still get enthralled by the history of the place
It is a great place, very atmospheric.
Always excellent stories and presentations. We also have to remember that a Royal Bedroom was a sort of reception room, not just a bedroom.
Thank you and that is very true!
Always a good day, or night, when you post a new video!
This was another excellent one, as one's come to expect from you!
Keep 'em coming! 👍🏻👌🏼👏🏻
Hi! I recently discovered your channel! Absolutely love it! Binge watched it last night! I can't wait for the next video!
Aww, that's lovely of you, thank you and thank you for the kind words.
Hi, I'm in England. And only just came across your videos. Very well narrated and thoroughly enjoyed it ❤
Thank you 😊
Thank You for another excellent video ❤ Internet connection is absolutely hopeless down here in the South East of England . In the middle of a big storm . Or possibly my internet is just rubbish 😂 Cheap deal ! 🤔 Thanks for another excellent video 🎉
My pleasure. Dreich up here but not too bad. Hope you're safe and sound.
Hi again, here's a funny story. The great Winston Churchill stayed at The White House during his time in office and one night woke up to find Abraham Lincoln watching over him. He left and never returned!
Really that's cool I've heard he haunts the Whitehouse and so does a cat 😊
From the White House archives: Churchill was taking a bath at the time. Always quick on the uptake, he simply took his cigar out of his mouth, tapped the ash off the end and said "Good evening, Mr. President. You seem to have me at a disadvantage." Lincoln smiled softly, as if laughing and disappeared.
Winston was most probably a sceptic, that must be the reason he fled, after all I would have poured a drink and spoken to the apparition... there must be Royal ghosts there too.
Jackie Kennedy, and Nancy Reagan? ❤
@@mrskenscott9643 That’s the one I’ve heard of as well.
I have a book of ghost hauntings and your story is there about Churchill
Very Interesting And Amazing!
I would love to visit these places alas will never get there because I live in Australia but U are the next best thing thank U I love history❤
Too kind, thank you 😊
Hello my friend!! How was your week? Covid has struck my house but im in bed still watching your post. As always is good to hear your voice and your stories. Great job btw. Hope to see you next weekend. ❤
Oh no! Are you poorly? Covid is a nasty business. Floored me when i caught it. Hoping you're ok 🫂
@@eerieedinburgh I'm down for sure. I'm very weak, can't smell or taste, so no food. But I'm taking in liquid and have only vomited once. This is definitely a nasty mess I'm in. The body aches are horrible as well. Thank you for asking about me. Oh and I'm loving the once a week "pen pal" lol.
@@tammydownes2413 Haha, same. Most important thing is you're resting and feeling better soon 👍🏻

The story of Agnes Sampson has troubled me ever since I learnt of it. If the ghost stories are true, I hope her spirit is at peace now or will be soon.
And if not, I hope she's having a great time haunting the palace.
The Grey Lady: I will comfort the afflicted...
Agnes Sampson: And I will afflict the comfortable!
And the other women and men who were tortured alongside her, Geillis Duncan for one. In fact the whole witch craft hysteria in Scotland at the time caused tens of thousands to lose their lives, not only in Scotland but across the uk, and some parts of Europe were particularly bad. However Scotland was one of the worst, due in part to the political climate/religion based unrest.
I last went to Edinburgh in 1974, aged 18, and now have planned a second visit 50 years later with my wife and daughter. I didn't get round to visit Holyrood Palace last time but I definitely intend going this time. I have always been grimly fascinated with David Rizzio's gruesome murder, somehow, and look forward to seeing the room where it happened approx. 450 years ago. I am English and love Scotland and its wonderful people and history.
❤🏴🏴❤
Thank You So much ,most interesting you put in so much work, and it is really appreciated
My pleasure 😊 thank you for the kind words.
Wonderful presentation, thank you so much, Blessings,❤.

Hello, just recently discovered your channel and I absolutely love how the stories and photos go so well together! 😊
As a long time Edinburgh history fan, I can appreciate these stories! 📙
I have also been to Edinburgh at least 100 times visiting attractions more than once! 😂
I really need to go back to Holyrood Palace, its been ages.
Hello! Glad you're enjoying the stories 😊
Always so excited when I see you’ve made a new video! Thank you!
😊 you're awfy kind, thank you.
Another great episode. I’ve been to those places. A guide in Holyrood answered my question about wee Davey R/s murder but didn’t show me the stain. Must go back.
You should have listen to Mike Walkers The Stuarts. Both bits about Mary /Darnley and James fear of witches.
Thanks!
Honestly my friend, i can not thank you enough. Kindness like this helps keep the channel going. Thank you so much.
Another great video home country of some of ancestors greetings and Happy Halloween from your cousin across the pond

Great ghosts stories , thankyou, been to Holy wood palace some years ago, lovely, love the history too
Yeah, its a very atmospheric spot. A few weird tales from the surrounding area also.
Love your narration .
Just love all these stories more please❤
I'll do my best 😊
Myself and an old gf witnessed the full bodied apparition of a monk, oddly it was on the grounds of Lothian bus depot at Portobello. Subsequently I have found out that monks from Holyrood Abbey used the land for grazing livestock and I’ve heard someone else tell people that there is a monk that haunts Kings Road, which is where the depot is. I wonder if there was a structure on the location for shelter during bad weather back in the day? I know it’s not the end when we die because of that encounter.
Oh, wow. How long ago was that may i ask? John Tantallon of North Edinburgh Nightmares has researched a lot of the stories from Porty. I'll ask if he's heard of similar.
@@eerieedinburgh That would be great, I’d love to hear of any other corroborated stories. He isn’t a good monk btw! I felt a very strong feeling of dread coming from him which made me run from the scene!
@@eerieedinburgh I saw him in 1989, he stood side on, hood up! His habit was very low to the ground, I would say less than an inch, no more. He looked as real as us.
@@darrenneil4533 leave it with me 👍🏻
Have you thought about a video about *_The Edinburgh Vaults?_*
Yes, i'll be doing them at somw point, too many stories to not cover them (apologies for the late response).
Wonderful video as always!
Thank you 👍🏻😊
So very interesting. ❤❤
thanks for the great stories, you tell
Really enjoy it 😁
The Italian Secretary: A Further Adventure of Sherlock Holmes by Caleb Carr is a fantastic book that takes place here. The author utilized the legend of the queen and her supposed lover. I’ve read quite a few continuations or variations, some better than others, and I enjoyed this one.
Good morning thank you for the awesome stories. I love your content keep up the great job God bless.❤
Thanks
You're an absolute star, Kellie. Thank you 😊
@@eerieedinburgh no probs. Off overseas for a bit.....catch you when I get back. In the meantime....stay well, keep safe. x
@@ktswandering Jealous! Safe travels and i hope you have a wonderful time.
Even as an unbiased observer, I must say that King James VI /I did have an uncanny likeness to David Rizzio, who many at the time thought that he was in fact James' real father, not Darnley. We will never know, but it is a fascinating theory that, if true, would put a shadow over the current Royal Family of Great Britain (although it must be said that Rizzio was not just a mere, low born secretary to Queen Mary, he was a member of a high ranking Italian aristocratic house).
The tall dark military man intererests me. I wonder what brought him out that night?
What about some stories on the Luckenbooth? 😊 Oh, also the Tontine in Glasgow has quite a dark history, as does the Royal Infirmary. My ancestors (whos name I still share) funded the creation of the hospital. Theres lots of ghost stories, especially from staff who worked there. I could ramble on and on as Im a history freak lol but im sure you will already yave a huge list of stories you are planning on covering without me adding suggestions 😂
I meant to say, the reason im so obsessed with the scottish witch trials is this - my ancestor (great, great ect) uncle was the tutor of King James VI, and for a time taught english to Mary queen of Scots. He had quite a big influence on James, and due to his puritan religion I fully believe he would have encouraged the eradication of anyone who was seen to deviate. I actually might start a channel about the witch trials and my family history (I have famous slave owners in my ancestry which horrifies me), but its interesting to me at least anyway so I suppose recording my ramblings for future generations of my "clan" might be worthwhile
I see there's still only Glamis castle listed in your Angus section and Melrose elsewhere. Considering the witch of Forfar and other tales I'm surprised you have nothing to say of there. Surely Dundee could be listed under Angus as the capital.
Plenty more to come in these areas. Careston Castle, Edzell Castle etc. So many places to get through 😊
I have been in a room where Rizzio was murdered and felt nothing. Strange about the blood stain though. Lady Tweedale confessed to being a fraud didn’t she? All old buildings claim to be haunted. It’s strange that nothing has ever been caught on camera.
Oh, i've never read about that (fraud). I'll need to google.
Really interesting stories, thank you.
King James has got something of a bad name about the persecution of witches, but it is a complete misunderstanding of him.
He believed in witches, yes. So did pretty much everyone else. He wrote a book about witchcraft and Demonology, but not to encourage persecution, but to restrain it by using caution and reason. He was a man of his time in his certainty about the existence of witches, but he believed in fair justice, even jailing one of his protégé for making false accusations of witchcraft. James simply didn't believe his story and the girl was released.
It is unfortunate that people like Matthew Hopkins warped James's theory and turned it onto something of a divine blank cheque to do whatever he wanted, going rogue with it and breaking the law; using torture to get a conviction. It means we treat everyone who believed in witches the same, which they were not.
🦇
eternal rest hope they have found peace poor creatures
❤
Hi, great video, but it stopped of its own accord before the end. Hope this corrects itself?
I wonder what happened to mary husband after that😮
So, King David was out during the rut?
Agnes dear one: bald, naked & greviously wounded us not a good look for anyone love. The foolish, religious fanatic of a king you would haunt is long gone.
Next time the Wild Hunt passes near, feel free to join them. They know more about truth than that king ever did.
