The quick answer, it Can kill you, but only IRL because this is nothing like the real thing. the sound created is above the threshold for being called a shockwave. at which point, the soundwaves start acting weird and almost like a solid mass. the sound is so loud and hits you like someone was constantly punching your entire body at the same time, including your insides, causing massive vibration in your body. which in turn can result your internal body temp to rise dramatically and possibly giving you internal bleeding and rupture of internal organs. also one of the reasons why most field research on them is done with the uttermost care. and even so, sometimes resulting cases in arms/legs being paralyzed just because they got their legs or arms a bit too close or tried to fend off the sound. (because of the whole acting as a solid mass thing)
