Love Lidia. I met her in person at a book signing in NJ a few years ago and was so touched by her warmth and congeniality. She’s as sweet off camera as she is on camera.
I was at the library the other day looking through the bio section (I love non-fiction) and came across a book--"My American Dream: Life of Love, Family & Food" by Lidia Matticchio Bastianich. I had never even heard of the woman but the title caught my eye; it sounded like an American success story & I love reading about those. Just got around to the book last night and it is simply wonderful reading; I'll definitely get my own copy. I've never even heard of Lidia (I don't get PBS), so I went on UA-cam to learn more about her, this segment is the first thing I watched--I had no idea this lady was so well-known & popular. So now I'm going to watch all the TV shows posted & find out if my library has any of Lidia's cookbooks. I'm so embarrassed that I didn't know who Lidia Matticchio Bastianich is--but I know now!
I use to love watching reruns of her show when we couldn't afford cable tv on channel 8. I would stay up till 2 am and sneak into my brothers room while he was on his night shifts just to watch the show on his tv. Such a nostalgic feeling just looking at her. One of my inspirations !
I am glad I have watch Lidia on PBS channel 11 here in Chicago. And last year I went to here restaurant deli store here in Chicago. So nice!!! Thank you again.
Lidia love you & your family have all your cookbooks. & grandma waiting for you to open a restaurant in. N. J. God bless you and your family. Love. Larry

I love her she is real Italy to me my grandparents came from Palermo Italy and I can relate to her with her Mother I had a living relationship with my grandmother who I was name after Vincenzina
I've eaten at a couple "Lidia's," and while it's good, my socks weren't knocked off. Plus, take them up on a second serving of their "unlimited" pasta trio and they'll look at you like you just let one "rip."
Lidia's sold the world ..... FOOD IS LOVE! ..... At a crowded table .... when you are ..... a little ..... under the weather ... It's still an average, happy infatuation! lol! ...
America not awaken from how lidia love is with family an in food carry on through family an tradition. Forgot from most familys should be able for kids learn .
+Sandy M. I agree!! You could tell Lidia was having a "moment" and connection with the pasta as a true chef!! Food is in Lidia's heart and you can totally tell it is her passion!! Martha killed that vibe... :\
That's because Martha Teichner . It's not a cook probably doesn't like to cook and orders out. Lydia is a hundred percent right you have to touch your food and feel it I can almost measure and exact amount of pasta just by feeling it. Always enjoyed her show for her simplicity and natural ingredients. Just learned about the book and I'm buying it. My parents were from Matera, and Gravina in Puglia. I as a teenager helped my mother make Raviolis, cavatelli, lasagna and all the traditional holiday desserts. Now my son's took over. Buon appetite. Grazia lydia you made so many people appreciate real Italian food. 🇮🇹🇺🇸 Cin Cin🍸🍸

Martha Teichner ruined the interview when she criticized her for touching the food.
