when you reached your first problem piece, your out-loud mental process really resonated with me. thats how my brain works too. spiraling and making excuses and “maybes” etc. you so much for sharing this, it is so personal and so hard.
This was great. Even though I’m a guy, my eating disorder is valid and these feelings are real. Thank you for sharing your experience. You’re incredibly strong.
What started with me watching you for some pretty epic singing videos has become me being so freaking proud to watch you on your journey. You look incredible. Thank you for sharing your story, and giving hope and advice to all those who are going through similar struggles.
I was anorexic through high school and so I didn't really need to do a closet clean out because most of my clothes that didn't fit were kiddie clothes anyways -- but this was my experience in rebuilding my closet -- After weight redistribution, I felt a lot better and a lot more settled. And I have fluctuated some, but I have never needed past clothes. Buying clothes with grace (elasticine qualities, that aren't super snug where I am uncomfortable with it) has been a recurring theme in my fav clothes. I do enjoy some more fitting stuff and some looser stuff - sometimes I've bought something that ended up being uncomfortable, and it gives me good feedback for what to look for next time. I personally need wide waistbands, and shorts need to be one size up than I "fit" in. (I do a lot of bending and squatting in my job, and that changes the fit! 😜) Here are some things to look forward to in recovery that not many people talk about!: - better immune system - more open space in your mind - positive dialogue with yourself that spills over to positive dialogue with others - healthy hair - encouraging others to have a healthy relationship with food when they mention something - food rules no longer applying Some of these took years, but I am always so glad when I realize that my mental battle broke through and I don't have that same worry I use to have. Be strong. 💪 We are rooting for your health! 💕 Edit: my dog chewed a hole in a pair of discontinued shorts, and I searched for them and found them on ThredUp (and bought them through Walmart Marketplace since I find ThredUp a bit awkward to use). If you search the style or the basics (I searched "Per Se Linen Shorts" and found them) you may be able to replace them. But yes! You'll find other stuff you love!! 💕
You look great Bailey. Thanks for sharing your journey and keeping it real. You've learned how to take care of yourself mentally. That shows tremendous growth. Great job!
This is exactly what I needed. To anyone going through it a year later as well: we're in this together and we're stunning. Clothes were made to fit us nkt the other way around so if something doesn't fit get rid of that negativity. You're beautiful, you're loved, and you're perfect exactly how God made you🩷🩷
It's good. It's healthy to declutter. It helps me mentally and emotionally. Now that I watch you clearing out stuff, I feel like I need to go into my closet and drawers and get rid of a lot of junk. It's best to start over and start fresh. I feel like I want to constantly renew and refresh and evolve. That is like the circle of life. But if I really like the item or it has sentimental value, then I keep it.
💃🏻 You're marvelous, Bailey. I have never had a strong connection to my body size, and I still can't bring myself to throw out clothes when they're a size or two too small; I can only imagine the sheer emotional processing that must have taken place between the cuts here. You're doing well, and you're becoming better all the time. So glad to be on this journey with you.
I just discovered your channel yesterday and from someone who has (mentally still does) struggled with multiple eating disorders from a very early age, your vulnerability and honesty is incredible. Hearing someone say the same exact thoughts I have out loud is enough to make me feel less alone. I’m from the United States and like you was fortunate enough to receive inpatient care. In one of your videos you said the real work starts when you leave treatment. It’s so so true! Unfortunately that’s where I feel a lot of support systems fail the individual suffering with an eating disorder at least in my personal experience. People like you are so motivating even when showing your struggles. I love your videos talking about your eating disorder journey and hope one day to be able to talk about it as well as you do. Your an incredibly strong, talented, and genuine person! I look forward to more videos! 💕 from California☺️
Thanks for the comment! ❤️I feel the exact same way about hearing someone say your exact thoughts out loud... I've had it in therapy or groups or talking with some friends from treatment and it's so refreshing. And I totally agree about support systems after you leave treatment. It's unfortunate that there seems to be a lack of resources for the hardest part and despite what a lot of people may think, you're not just "better" after treatment. Thanks again for the comment and I'm so glad if I may have helped you in any way! 😊❤️
Thanks for another honest look at working through this. I know these videos are going to find people at just the right time in their life and you may never even know how much you have helped them.
Somewhere in the Twentieth Century we went from the practical position of buying clothes to fit us to the culturally imposed position of us trying to fit the clothes. I just found your music today and your channel. You're clearly sensitive, intelligent and talented wear whatever you want and be you because "you" is quite wonderful.
You know the old saying “Don’t sweat the small stuff”. That’s right get rid of it. You don’t ever want to go back there ! The Canada shirt and the white sweat pants looked great on you ! Reward yourself and get some new duds. Thank you for having the courage to share your incredible journey ! You may possibly help someone else along the way. Love your blue dresser by the way. Wishing you and Randy all the best. We love you guys. Dave
@@baileypelkman My favorite color is blue. But that looked like it was fresh from the factory. I did see your kitchen cabinet video, you guys did a great job there also. Love ya kid !!!
I'm very proud of you, Bailey. Thanks for show us this part of your life. You're an inspiration for all people with some eating disorder. Really, you're a good person. You'r simply the best!!❤❤❤
I love to see how you and Randy work together in this process. Its great to have a partner supporting you during your journey. Thank you for sharing your story! I know it will help other people.
Wow, I actually watched an entire 20 minutes plus video of a woman going through her wardrobe. 😀 Not many people I would do that for, but considering the context, in your case it was very enlightening. I never considered before this particular issue of recovering from an eating disorder, but I can see now how it would be an ordeal. And of course education and enlightening people is why you post videos like this. It's great to see you doing well and looking good. And for what it's worth, you're a very pretty lady who always looks nice no matter what she's wearing. I imagine that the items that are borderline too small are more of an issue than the things that are way too small. You should be proud of yourself for how you dealt with this and overall how you're handling your eating issue. And many have said this, but being public as your are with your struggles is helping so many others. You should definitely be proud of yourself for that. Take care, and give Charlie a good belly scratch for me. ❤
Thanks for being so brave and sharing this with us, my daughter has AN and this helps me to understand how I can be supportive of her when the time comes when she is WR.
Thank you so much for this, Bailey. 💃🏻 You're remarkable - and such a tremendous source of inspiration. Your emotional honesty... wow. Love you, girl. xo 💕
That was very intense... I'm sure the video helps someone else who is going through similar situation because that looks difficult. Thanks for sharing, you're looking incredible and take care. 💃🏻
My phrase for acceptance is "eh, it'll do"; I heard it on Forged In Fire from a bladesmith who won the episode he was on. Great job, Bailey! This has been really brave and generous of you
I'm in recovery right now, and almost a month in. About 2 weeks before going into recovery I splurged and spent hundreds on clothes and now 90% of them don't fit. I need to get rid of them but I'm still trying to convince myself I'll be able to fit into them again and I'm upset I wasted so much money for them to not fit anymore. The hardest part for me isn't even watching my body change it's the noticing how differently clothes fit now. This is video is making me feel less bad about it all and I got rid of my first pair of pants today! Lot's more to go, but I'll get there :)
Stress eating can affect many folks in different ways. I know some that can't eat when stressed and others that eat as a reaction to stress. I tended to fit in the later category. I found that as I moved more towards self acceptance, the image issues took care of itself. One day at a time.
Bailey, with your figure as it is now. I would say, you would be the envy of most women. As Randy says, you are the queen. We all miss your singing videos, but any videos will do. Keep going.
Man, you look good Bailey. Hey, it's just stuff in the closet. always tell my wife there's nothing more valuable than space, pure space. Everything else is clutter that you're either tripping over or holding back from someone else less fortunate. So there's a lot of room for improving our life. That is, create space, and help make someone else's day by giving opportunities to them in upgrading . their clothes.
Hey Bailey, First of all, Randy's one A+ dude, and two...I think a lot of people as they grow older have these kind of struggle with throwing away clothes that were once part of your usual pull from the closet. As we get older, we get get a little more squishy...I am anyways. I try to tell myself if I haven't worn it in a month (in season) then I probably don't need it. Also when it comes to pants...if it leaves a mark, its too small. I think clothe sizes in general are all over the place, and can't be trusted. Maybe that helps maybe it doesn't. Keep doing what you're doing, I'm so glad you're feeling better!
Yes definitely reassuring to hear that I’m not alone in the struggle with sizing. Thank you! And yes, it’s definitely normal to grow as we get older. Our bodies will change shape constantly throughout our lives, so no sense getting attached to one particular size. What matters most is that we take care of our bodies, which are simply a vessel that allows us to live!
You look great!!! I haven't been on UA-cam in a few months, so I'm just now catching up on some things, but you look so much healthier than you used to! That's amazing!! I have a friend who used to struggle with the same thing you did, and I know that a lot of people have and had the same condition, and you are such an inspiration. You're doing great! I'm glad that you've done such a good job taking care of yourself!
Hi honey! Thank you for your videos. I recently threw out 6 bags worth! Clothes I have had for years! All sick clothes though. 💔 did you experience what is known as "overshoot" in recovery? I am a year in, in just a week. 😊
I definitely did. It's very common! It's hard to trust your body, but being in recovery for a few years now, my body has proven to me that it knows what it's doing! And because of that (and with time) I've also just accepted that as long as I'm living a balanced healthy lifestyle, my body is going to do what it needs to do and look how it needs to look. Think about it this way - if every single person had the exact same diet, lifestyle, workout routine, everything, we wouldn't all have the same bodies. We would still all look very different. So I've embraced what my body needs to look like in order for me to live a healthy and happy life :) Kudos to you on your recovery and keep doing that hard amazing work!!!!!!
Hey Bailey! You make everything look good though. I'm very proud of your progress and as you said clothes are just clothes. I feel like you are a great person in a smol body and I'm glad to have found your channel. Virtual hugs from Chile and keep rocking it!
OK...so you forgot your id, the both of you. Look on the bright side; it makes for good UA-cam video content. I will remember this a long time because I too am guilty of doing the same thing when I'm in a hurry to get things done. I was gonna say, keep a 20 dollar bill in the glovebox just in case you need quick gas to get home, but heck, you're driving an electric car, so just keep an extra Ray-O-Vac battery in there if you run out of juice.
I have a policy of getting rid of any clothes that make me feel shame, no matter if they technically fit or how much I paid for them. You did amazing!
I just feel like we are witnessing PURE COURAGE.

Just wanted to add, watching that first dilemma piece and the way Randy supported you, was incredible.
I also struggled with an eating disorder for many years and I wanted to say: I AM PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
I was anorexic through high school and so I didn't really need to do a closet clean out because most of my clothes that didn't fit were kiddie clothes anyways -- but this was my experience in rebuilding my closet --
After weight redistribution, I felt a lot better and a lot more settled. 😜)
Here are some things to look forward to in recovery that not many people talk about!:
- better immune system
- more open space in your mind
- positive dialogue with yourself that spills over to positive dialogue with others
- healthy hair
- encouraging others to have a healthy relationship with food when they mention something
- food rules no longer applying
Some of these took years, but I am always so glad when I realize that my mental battle broke through and I don't have that same worry I use to have. Be strong. 💪 We are rooting for your health! 💕
Edit: my dog chewed a hole in a pair of discontinued shorts, and I searched for them and found them on ThredUp (and bought them through Walmart Marketplace since I find ThredUp a bit awkward to use).
Great job!
